What is new with the v2 chip? Should I wait to purchase until then...?

That is really, really cool! Pardon my ignorance, but does the 26650 have advantages over dual 18650s compared to dual 18560s other than just being one battery? Dimensions say it is a four tenths of an inch longer in depth but roughly four tenths of an inch less wide than the dual 18650 SX Boxer.

I could be mistaken, but i don't think there is much of a difference anymore between v1 and v2. Initially yihi was saying that the v2 would be for the newer wires and manual TCR. But they have since decided to update the firmware on v1 to allow this. The only other thing currently shown looks to be the software, ala escribe, but that may(?) also work with v1? Maybe there will be other changes that they have not announced yet?

26650's never really caught on. They are obviously a bit fatter than 18650's and are better suited for mech mods that can take advantage of the super high amperage 50/60+. But they also have higher mAh ones 4200/5200 that have lower amps but still 20/30 which is more than adequate for a regulated mod. Benefit is, as you pointed out, you can have a smaller unit while still having the run time equal to or greater than a dual 18650 if you don't plan on vaping over 75 watts. The single battery will also allow for USB charging as you could with a dual unit if it was wired in parallel.

I wouldn't say that 26650s never caught on. They are fairly popular among high end regulated mods, just not among cheaper mass-produced devices. I'd say that if one wants improved battery life, but needs something pocketable, the 26650 is a good option. If you want max battery capacity, pockets be damned, the dual 18650 is the better option.

So my understanding then is that the 26650 still is 3.7 volts and thus the SX350 would not be able to be run at more than 75 watts despite the capability for that type of amperage although you are getting similar or greater mAH in a smaller package?

Yep, unless Yihi offers a different chip/firmware, the max amperage input to the chip from the battery limits it to 75W. Considering that they did increase the power for the Vaporflask to 100W using dual 18650 batteries in parallel, a 26650 should be able to handle that sort of current draw. Whether YiHi will sell a chip for 100W for use with 26650 though, who knows . . .

Well fwiw. My boxer mod stopped working last night. It has been working fine for s a couple / few months. Then yesterday it wouldn't fire hit all the buttons did what they were supposed to and it still read resistance properly. Then tried to fire it and poof.

Ginger vapor are of course being outstanding about helping me resolve the issue. Certainly nobody should have any hesitation ordering s boxer or dealing with ginger at all.

Anyway I'm gutted. It was my favorite mod by far.

I'd like to apologize to ginger for my unreasonable reaction in here. They've been absolutely top tier from pilar to pos, even back when I ordered they went above and beyond to help meoit. I'm not sure what got into me other than frustration and miscommunication that could have led me to make such an incorrect post..or medication and brain misfunction.

I'm really sorry to have acted so poorly and jumped to..such incorrect conclusions.

Top notch outfit for sure.

Mine is shown in RED between the IPV4S on the left and Apollo Reliant on the right.
    • After opening the USPS box the boxer was in a unique cardboard tube
    • While not updated for the latest FW it actually came with a manual
    • No updates needed, came with latest FW already installed
    • Buttons work flawless as does the device
    • Smaller and lighter than a IPV4S, lighter than a SXminiM
Since the usb port is only used for SW upgrades, I think a nice touch would be to have included a usb protection plug with the device.

The other half and I are camping. I brought the SX-Boxer, Reliant and TC40: 2x USB chargeable devices, 2x TCR adjustable devices and 2x replaceable battery devices and one internal battery device.

I'm happy with my purchase of the Boxer-SX.

It surely does seem to have vanished. I thought you were mistaken, so I searched and I failed to find that thread. I suppose somebody thinks Yihi folks oughta get along with Evolv folks or sump'n.
