Actually it does if you are feeling better. You were not getting enough nic. Problem can also be you may be addicted to the 'other' chemicals in cigarettes called Whole Tobacco Alkaloids (WTA) which ecigs do not have in normal ejuice. However, there are online companies that do sell a WTA solution that can be used a few drops at a time in your own ejuice. That is what I am suspecting now. If you think it could be that, let us know and we can direct you to some online shops where WTA can be purchased. It has helped lots of people successfully get rid of the smokes once and for all. Sometimes just nic isn't the whole problem.Thank you all for taking the time to respond.
Dave and Diver - the guy at the vape shop who sold me the Smok V8 said I could do either MTL or ML depending on how much I open the vent. I started coughing when I inhaled to my mouth with the vent almost closed, so I switched to MTL with the vent open more and that seems to work better.
Not sure if what he told me is correct though...
ETA: Because I was getting a little worried, I switched back to the cigs. yesterday morning and have been feeling a little better. This still doesn't really help me figure out what the problem was since there are different factors involved. I will definitely take the advice of you guys with trying different things as I won't give up on the vaping.

There are so many different chemicals that big tobacco is allowed to put into cigarettes, upon combustion some merge and can become different drugs. Many smokers are self medicating and don't even realize it. I have known several people that have had to have the WTA in order to get a handle on quitting smoking. I am not asking anything personal but if you suffer from depression, anxiety, etc. this may well help you.I think you're right. It's hard to believe that just a few puffs from 3mg/ml of a 5ml tank would give me too much nicotine. This may not be correct, but I've read that there are A LOT more puffs/ml than I'm taking (all depending).
If a 5ml tank lasts me about 3 days, then that's around 5 cigs. a day- which is what I've been smoking, albeit usually half of one at a time.
Ugh, I don't know if this even makes sense.
? How did you come up with this logic?Welcome aboard.
And being delivered direct lung means it no longer arrives through the tongue (and probably throat) cells.
I think most people just use an ecig and vape it like they do a cigarette. Call it mtl or dl, I personally would not know cause I just vape like I smoked. This is why I can't stand labels. People's technic is as varied as there are people....so.....When I started, I left the mod out of my line of sight and just took a draw or two when my body told me to. Also, a direct to lung (DL) draw is different than a mouth to lung (MTL) draw. I actually don't do either for some reason. I fill my mouth and exhale out my nose. It is just how I started and now I can't imagine any other way. SO, 3mg can be a hard hit or a small hit, nicotine-wise.
Just a thought...
Nicotine is delivered differently through vaping (versus tobacco smoke) so there is a time of adjustment that takes place. Maybe not for all, but definitely for some. And being delivered direct lung means it no longer arrives through the tongue (and probably throat) cells.
? How did you come up with this logic?
Nicotine is absorbed differently from smoking and vaping. With smoking, the nicotine is absorbed primarily in the lungs, and quickly is transported to the brain by way of the blood stream . Very rapid efficient pathway because the lungs absorb better than the mouth or throat. In MTL the nic supply hangs around the tongue on the way in, correct? Then it launches against the throat on the way in correct?
And with DTL it flows past the tongue and throat much faster, right?
That's how I arrived at the logic. Nicotine I've been told, absorbs through the surface of our body, be it nose, throat, tongue, gums, or lungs. At least that is my understanding of how nicotine eventually reaches the brain.
I was not trying to start anything, but needed to know how you arrived at your conclusion as it is not entirely true with DL and vaping in particular as @Baditude has pointed out in his postings. I would always liken the difference in the delivery method to drinking whiskey and beer.In MTL the nic supply hangs around the tongue on the way in, correct? Then it launches against the throat on the way in correct?

Not trying to seem quarrelsome. Just trying to explain where my original statement came from.
I'm the guy who would choose the VW bus over a Jag.Smoking is a Jag and vaping is a VW bus. LOL

You are probably talking about the nic salts and the JUUL. As far as I know the freebase nic has not been changed,Baditude, I either read or heard that nic makers are manipulating molecules for better absorbtion in the lungs or someting along those lines where before their molecules in our favorite sauces were larger than in tobacco. Or perhaps I misunderstood.
But it seems as though I remember it being said that all things equal, the nic absorption is now starting to be as easy as from tobacco. ie, when in the past it was a lot less nic absorbed from a tank of juice versus same amount of nic inhaled from tobacco but now that is changing to becoming closer to equal amounts absorbed through vaping or tobacco. Or something along those lines.
Perhaps I'm wrong but that is what my brain took from what I read (or heard I forget).
I'm not calling you wrong, nor is anyone else. Were's having a simple debate about nicotine absorbtion via smoke and vapor nicotine delivery devices.Perhaps I'm wrong but that is what my brain took from what I read (or heard I forget).

I don't like labels either, but distinguishing between mtl or dtl is important when trying to aid. I don't know what percentage vapes mtl compared to dtl, but It does seem most new vapors vape dtl which imo is definitely not the way most smoked cigs....I'm not saying that everyone smokes mtl, but me personally, have never seen anyone smoke a cig like the new type dtl vape method. On the other hand, that other tobacco is smoked dtl, but never seen anyone smoke cigs that wayI think most people just use an ecig and vape it like they do a cigarette.
