Brand new vaper, first day experiences

I have been vaping for 11 days now after smoking for 35 years. I found this forum back in September and spent a considerable amount of time researching all things related to vaping. I purchased a 510 around the middle of September and started using it a little bit every day while continuing my analog habit (light smoker, average about 6 per day). I had a few packs of smokes to get through and promised myself that I would not buy anymore once they were finished. Then, my father ended up in the hospital with congestive heart failure and it was a very stressful time. I remember thinking, "probably not a good time to quit" and then I remembered how many times I would think, "not a good time to quit because of this or that" etc. There was always an excuse to continue smoking!! So, this time I gathered up my willpower and my PV and said "I am determined to become a non-smoker". My first day of no analogs, I was at the hospital for 7 hours while my dad was having a defibrillator implanted. I had a few puffs of my 510 in the bathroom and all was fine. My father has had a few health issues over the last 10 years and they are all basically related to smoking. He started smoking at the age of 15 or so and he is now 79. He finally gave them up for good last year, but the damage has been done. I decided I didn't want to end up like him. I have no desire whatsoever to smoke an analog ever again. The hardest part of quitting for me was always the mental habit. I love the fact that I can still satisfy that part of it without harming my body with the carcinogens and tar in tobacco. I am so excited with vaping that I have been telling anyone I know who still smokes about it. I even got my pack & a half a day brother into it. He is pretty stoked about it all too and is passing it on to more people. It really is amazing how much smoking affects your body, even a light smoker such as myself. I have noticed big differences in everything since I stopped. My skin looks healthier, I don't have that white coating on my tongue in the morning anymore, my nose isn't blocked up in the morning, my taste buds are almost back to normal and my sense of smell. I am so happy to have found this and will continue to be a happy vaper!!!

Ok so it's been almost 12 months and I am a happy vaper indeed.

I have made many converts among my friends, and am also enjoying the improved PV's available (extended size Ego batteries, rapid chargers, LR atty's etc). This better hardware means all my friends who have joined me in vaping in recent times (and leaving cigs behind) never needed to cart around a handful of stock 510 batteries and a power strip filled with 510 chargers.

I went through a DIY juice phase, ordered lots of supplies from the flavor merchants discussed in this forum and tried some interesting stuff, but mostly vape e-liquid.cn "turbo smog" cut with PG as I still mostly prefer tobacco flavors.

I pretty much vape anywhere without even thinking about asking now, most bar and restaurant staff are familiar with the devices, though I am more discrete in some settings. The PV is a great conversation piece. I will be enjoying this hobby for the rest of my days and look forward to new models and juice flavors in the future.
