The secret to breaking even is finding a mod that you like, juices you love, and some repeatable form of atomization. Once you do that you stop ordering everything in a search to find the one you like. It's expensive until it becomes mundanely satisfying.

I spend about $35 a month on 150ml of assorted Dekang juices in the 50ml size and I run through 2 or 3 boxes of cartos a month at $7 each. I think that will be reduced after I bought a Vivi Nova this month. All I'll need is wick/coil assemblies ($3 each). One of those lasts a week or two and is really easy to change.

I was a pack a day smoker almost 3 years ago. Even now, a carton of Pall Mall ultra lights costs under $40 in Georgia.

You should order some extra head from the stardust which have the better silicon tip and you have say 4 tanks in rotation different juices, if a coil blows you change the head and in your own time rebuild the coil itself in the blown head when the one you're running blows switch again, I calculated my repair cost to be around .20 cents per month in wire and wick, and the roll you buy could easily outlast your vivi before you crack it with juice or a drop.

Has anyone out there figured their break-even date? (Including everything, even that $5 juice sample..) And more importantly, has anyone hit it in under a year? Mine seems to be receding at a rate of about 10 days every week.. stupid new toys.. :vapor:

November 8, 2012. Which is actually in the past! With a start date of September 6th, I didn't do too badly.

That includes tons of DIY stuff, three basic mods, several batteries, chargers, and so on.

I buy too much crap. I think my break even date is somewhere mid 2019

^^^This. My break-even date seems to be receding further into the distant future every week. Actually, though, once the things I ordered last night show up in the mail, I should be good for a LONG time. (Right! That's what I say EVERY week, right before I read about the next best thing and have to order it! )

eGo batts and Boge carts for a year and a half. Did the math and it worked out to less than a buck a day. 80 cents I think it was. Figured I saved well over 2000 so I decided to dip my toe into the variable volt pool. Got a Vision Spinner last week and like it alot. So much so that I ordered an MVP. Main reason I switched to ecigs was the cost of the analogs. They were out of control.

Tell me about it. Around here, buying by the carton, most cigarettes were $8.50 per pack when I quit (they've gone up since). You could get some brands cheaper, like Newport or the generics, but they mostly tasted terrible.

As a 2 1/2 pack per day smoker (let's not go there), it was costing me over $160 per week. I'd have to spend an unbelievable amount on vaping equipment to match that--it's a Provari a week, roughly!

I may have achieved it despite all the money i have spent on devices/chargers/batteries/juices/supplies/bottles/syringes/RBAs/mesh/kanthal/wool and so on!

I'll not go all weird and ask you to put a price on deep breaths and a returned sense of smell - but at $400 a month for ciggies - i reckon we broke even after 4 months noooo problem!

If you want bald financial terms ok! What i no longer pay for cigarettes means my wife's health insurance is now free + a bit every month! Not bad for something we both like!

Playing a bit of a guessing game because my order hasn't came yet...

My first order from SI wasn't even $90, I smoked a carton of Winston's a week that cost $45 each. I used between 1ml to 1.5ml or, 2 - 3 Blu cartos a day, when I had my Blu. That was with liquid that had less nicotine in it. I have 60ml of 24mg liquid in the order, so even if I vape 2ml a day of the stronger liquid, Will only spend half of what I normally do in cigs a month and break even in two weeks.

That said I will probably get some T3s from SI so it will be pushed up to about 3 weeks, but after that it will be liquid and replacement equipment only. Im doing this to save money and some of what is left of my health. I will only be spending about 1/4 of what I did on regular cigs each month.

I should breakeven in a couple of months if I don't get tempted in the meantime... Technically, it wont be under the year mark because I tried ecigs over a year ago and gave up- my bad! I'm still using most of my hardware from that time as I still have my 650Mah batteries and an atomiser from my Ego-T and I'm using one of the batteries from my 510-T kit and some of the juices that came with my initial couple of orders. It's a bit of a case of 'Trigger's Broom' (Only Fools and Horses, if you don't know it, look it up ;-) ). 'I've used the same broom for 25 years...it's only had 10 new heads and 5 new handles in that time!' or in my case, 'I've used the same two PVs in the last 15 months, I've only bought 4 new batteries (510Penstyle, I wanted automatic), one new atomiser, 5 packets of cartomisers and three driptips!'

If I discounted my purchases from last year I might have broken even already but I'll get back to you on that! It's also more difficult for me to break even because I used to smoke roll-ups and that was a LOT cheaper than pre-rolled cigarettes! I shall report back when I've calculated this!x

My date is in early March. Don't have my spreadsheet here to check. But I am saving about $4/day at present. Bought some crappy juices I didn't use and a had to replace a bum charger, few impulse buys that didn't pan out.

Right now I have a Vamo, 4 RBAs (with excessive amounts of wire and mesh), a Legacy with a kick, some egos and a spinner, a bunch of fresh batteries and enough juice to get me well past breakeven date.

I have to say, the first month I thought saving money was going to be easy. By the end of month 2 I wasn't sure I would ever be able to break even. :)

OK, I've done some maths. Assuming everything I've bought since I got back into vaping in November 2012, bringing forward the cost of one 650 Ego-T battery and two 510 penstyle batteries (as if I'd bought them this year, not last), also bringing forward the cost of three bottles of juice... factoring in the savings of two and a half months of non-smoking, I'm £30 or a week and a half away from breaking even. WHOOPEEEEE!

Do remember that I rolled my own cigarettes and I'm only using a 510 Penstyle though...even if I have had 7 batteries in that time (lost one, one seemed a bit funny so I threw it out)... Oh this is a good feeling!x
