A friend recently got the Sidesho with the newer PCC which has the LED display. Somehow in first screwing the auto battery into the charging slot and pushing down he did SOMETHING. The battery is now not charging at all really.

When looking at the bottom of the battery there is now a small piece of brass rod almost flush to the inner base of the battery (the section that had the former hole with some numbers stamped onto it) "plugging" said hole.

It looks as if possibly some part of the charger that went up into that hole broke off? Not quite sure since the PCC IS still successfully charging other batteries with no issue.

Any thoughts?

(FYI: He's not looking at this as a warranty issue since he fully admits he felt some pressure first and it was undoubtedly his fault)

Perhapse the PCC had something in it when it was shipped. Then when the first battery was inserted, it got stuck in the first battery.

Have you tried backing it out with an ice pick or an old phillips screw driver ground to a sharp point?

You might also try an "Easy Out" extractor.

Srew Extractor | Bolt | Stud Extractor | Bolt Removal

This would involve drilling a small hole in the what ever is stuck in the battery and then backing it out the threads with the easy out.

If what ever is inside the batery is loose, once in a great while you can super glue a piece of would dowel rod to the object and then back it out slowly. Works about 1 out of 20 times though.

Perhaps but I tend to doubt it was something random in the PCC as it PERFECTLY fits snugly into the hole in the bottom of the battery which I presume leads into the interior for activation of the automatic switch. Also given the size, about a millimeter or two, I doubt anything but the dowel method would work but perhaps worth a shot.
