breathing trouble

Hoping someone can help. I have had my ecig now for about 3 weeks. For the first week I was so pleased, couldn't believe all the reviews I read were so correct. Then I had trouble trying to breath, didn't feel as though I could get enough air into my lungs. Like a few others on some other posts I too started getting chest pain. Very much like the worst sort of reflux you can imagine. So I took all the right medications etc for that, no eating acidic foods etc etc. Waited for a few days until the pain had gone and breathing was back to normal before trying again to see if it might be the ecig. Started using it again today very moderately, but all the symptoms are back again. Not saying they are good or bad things, maybe it is an allergy to one of the ingredients. Wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.

What is your ejuice pg/vg ratio? Also - what is the flavor. Most likely a change of higher pg or higher vg or a flavor reaction. FOr me I had a similar experience- turns out PG and I are not so friendly LOL. Changed to 70-100% VG and problem solved.

I will add though - I did not find my problem quite this severe and the description is a little concerning. Whenever I hear someone say chest pains - I think check with your doc to be safe :)

Good luck!

Hi and welcome to ECF. I always recommend new vapers visit their Dr. and tell them about their vaping program.
As for the chest pain a good idea to visit your Dr. Some have reported chest issues with VG based juices. Could also be a sensitivity to PG or the flavors. Try to not inhale into the lungs and inhale/ exhale vapor through nasal area and see if things improve- vapor particles are too large to be absorbed via the lungs- most absorption takes place in the mouth and nasal areas.

question

what nic level are you at ?

and are you finding yourself using the ecig a lot .

remember that vapor from an ecig is heavier then smoke is and can create heaviness in the lungs , if you get to much
I had this same issue not the breathing part , but the chest pains etc , what was happening was I was getting to much
I raised my nic level hence not having to over use the ecig , hence the pain when away , not sure if that will work for you but it did work for me , perhaps you may want to look into it .if the issues persisit then I would recommend seeing your doctor about the issue .

Thanks everyone for your quick responses. Not sure if I am able to mention brand names on here, if I can please let me know. I don't really think at this stage it is a doctor issue, seem to be able to keep it under control at the moment. Just seems strange it happens when I start using ecig again. I am using cartriges from well known company and the strength is 1.8 and 2.4. Using both as I am new at this and wanted to try both strengths to see what was rigt for me. Not using a y fancy flavours, just tobacco. Makes me think may be allergy type of thing as no breathing problems before, apart from the usual shortness of breath when smoking those nasty cancer sticks. But having said that, even with this trouble with ecig, my breathing when walking etc is much better than with cigarettes.

You're welcome. Yes it's ok to mention brand names and/ or Vendors. If ECF doesn't approve of the Vendor the link will be automatically blocked without penalty or blame to you.

Thanks for that. The one iam using is greensmoke. Red ca rtridges and absolute tobacco. It just might be something in them that doesn't agree with me. Like I said in my original post, iwas and still am very happy with it, apart from this breathing issue and if I can bet that sorted I will be even happier. You never know maybe people that have been having similar issues could be using the same brand, and it might help them as well.

Now that you mention sysmptoms including reflu They point PG. Actually breath issue should be for chain vaping especially you feel your breath when you walk become better after cigarettes. I am bad for PG too I get most high nics with dekang They are 80%VG/20%PG. I dilute with VG and when I got down Nic level to desired level PG should become minimal too. I still have cough coming from throat which I asume the result of however low PG.
As everyone else I notice every change in my body during my whole vaping experience. (a good 8 months) But I decide any theory should be accepted after repeated same results.
When I diluted 18mg/ml liquids it is worse because I presume the PG level is more than 24mg/ml. with 18mg/ml liquids I experienced reflu but I use medicine and they are not visible.
Last week I experienced flu. I had a running nose and I was tired as though I had run all day long. Eventually it came down to my lungs and I felt a pain but funny enough after drinking lots of water and vapouring it vanished. I thought I should only have mouth drag and expect the nic is taken from my mouth but I get the vape in my lungs too.
Try to use 100%VG liquids and look at the result than. if no change ask your doctor if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Juice. By the way dont forget to drink lots of water too. And dont forget you will have less harming liquids and worse liquids are far better than smoking.
Happy vapings
