this actually might be the reason as well. When I was going through my shortness of breath Anxiety was the first thing i thought about. I was just opening up my business and making sure everything is ready to go for grand opening. but now I'm doubting it was anxiety because now im really stressing out more than I was trying to start up my business. so Not really sure it can be a mix of anxiety and juice. I also had to get my mind off of breathing in and exhaling by keeping myself busy like reading or watching tv

I'm not a doctor, so please take my advice with a grain of salt. But to me, having suffered through panic attacks in the past, it sounds like your issue may be anxiety. It stays with you and comes out with a full blown panic attack even when something completely separate from it comes up. You've already had yourself checked for potential physical problems and passed with flying colors. I would go back to your doctor and explain and maybe he/she can give you some medication for it. Starting a business is very stressful, and trying to make a living from it even more stressful. The fact that you can calm down by reading or doing some other activity is a tell tale sign for anxiety.

Take care of yourself and keep us posted.

I will have to visit my doctor. I'm a very responsible individual when it comes to everything but my health. I always let it pass by me thinking im superman. I will definitely pay the doctor a visit. Thank you

it lasted me a month and it was on and off. it really came back only when I was thinking of breathing. I was vaping juice with high pg it was more than 40% for sure (sorry i dont really remember) but I know that I started vaping 100% vg and I havent had a problem since. I also have juice with very minimal PG no more than 20% and I havent had any symptoms.

I also had to take my mind off of inhaling and exhaling. its very tough to do so when your brain is telling you that you need to take a deep breath and when you cant you start to panic and thats what makes it even worse and anxiety starts to build up!but when you finally are able to actually get in a deep breath you feel like a million bucks! my advice is to just get your mind off of it and start trying to vape 100% vg and see if this helps you because it definitely helped me out if you cant get 100% vg I suggest going minimal as possible on the PG ratio.

I too thought they were Panic Attacks at first. I am sure that Panic made it's way in for sure. I have had Panic Attacks in the past, however not in many years.

The reason that I really ask all this is that I did start with PG or a PG/VG Blend and have been vaping only 100% 18mg VG from Virgin Vapr for over a week. In that time it stopped the episode that I had before like this and thus I thought that PG was the culprit. However this last Friday and somewhat ongoing since I have had this issue.

It is kind of there all the time. Many times I dont notice the tightness in my chest and just as you said; When I think about breathing that is when it is the hardest.

I just really love not smoking the analogs and I really want to give this a true try and kick the cancer sticks. So Just hoping this goes away soon, and if not then that would be the end of the vaping for me.

Thanks again.

Sure sounds like panic attacks to me. I suffered through them for 6 months a couple years ago. The best thing to do when you're having one is to focus on your breathing and to take nice slow full breaths. Mid panic attack breathing will become very choppy and kick your fight or flight reaction into top gear which makes the symptoms worse from the rush of oxygen. Once I realized and truly believed a panic attack was nothing and they couldn't actually hurt me they went away. It's the fear of having that same feeling come over you again that causes them to reoccur.

I forgot to mention also that I dropped my nic level down I too started at 18 cut down to 12 then 6( in a matter of a month or 2) and smoke 100% vg and I have never had another one of these attacks. so then I started to try pg and vg mixtures and found that I am just fine vaping pg mixtures but no more than 40% pg. so now that I think of it I think it was the high nic. so dont give up you just have to experiment like I did and in the meantime if you do suffer from another one of these attacks just try to calm yourself and do what I did watch tv read a book come on these forums once you forget about it your brain of course will do the breathing for you instead of you trying to take in deep breaths which cause you to panic.

I agree that you should reduce your nicotine level. I went with conventional wisdom and vaped 18mg at first, and it really kicked my hiney! I'm below 10mg and working my way to 6mg, because if I get carried away, I still feel my heart race.

Try vaping straight VG, no flavoring. You can get VG at the drug store. Then, mix a bit of your flavored with it, like 1 part flavored 18mg to 2 parts plain VG. It'll water down the flavor, but this isn't a commitment--you need to gather some data. If that doesn't cause any problems, try 1/2 & 1/2, which would make it 9mg.

Bear in mind, nicotine overdose may affect you differently from others. Take it seriously, though. Stay low on the nic until you find your happy place.

It might also be the flavorings. As much as I adore it, cinnamon makes me cough, so I had to lay off of it. I'd say give plain VG a go first, then experiment.

AzrielProne, I just read your OP again and don't see some info. It may be on the thread but I'm just going to say:

You say you have been analog free for 3 weeks. You don't say though how long you've been vaping nor how heavily you smoked during that time. I'm no doctor but have had to research and learn due to my own situation. I have allergic bronchitis and started having problems the last days of April. I got scared it was vaping as I was enjoying being mucous-free and breathing deeply for 6-to-8 months vaping while only smoking 3 or 4 smokes a day. I know you've said you don't have any mucous and that's really not necessary to have the same symptoms I do. Anything that obstructs the bronchial tubes whether that be mucous build up in them or constriction of them which happens in asthma and panic attacks will cause heavy chest, shortness of breath, even painful chest and depending on how long it goes on, depeletion of enough oxygen will cause various other symptoms depending on how much oxygen the body is being deprived of. In my case, numbness of finger tips (and it changes... not always the same ones) or the whole finger. It can cause weakness in the legs and/or arms and lack of energy too... just feeling yucky. If it gets really bad, its ER time. My oxygen saturation level when I got there was 60 and above 95 is normal. So... just saying... you could be suffering from diminished oxygen.

I went to the Mayo Clinic and learned that as we withdrawn from smoking, the bronchial begin to shrink/narrow... sounds bad.. right? Well, its not because the bronchials have been stretched from tar build up smoking and once they're cleaned out, the start to return to normal size. I don't know if you were only lightly smoking and had already started into that process when you quit entirely. But, if your bronchials are narrowing and then you panic because of this new "tightness", then, yes, you might get a panic attack and they spasm like in asthma and you have a hard time breathing. Many asthmatics, my son included, have emotional triggers. Stress or emotional upset will cause an asthma attack in them.

Oddly enough, when I have lots of mucous build up... obstructing the bronchials... or an asthma flare up narrowing/restricting them, there is not enough space in my tubes to vape. Vaping as I normally do, the vapor is a lot more voluminous than smoke. In my case, it makes me cough so I get a warning not to continue vaping then. Anyway, you might want to think about these things. If you describe your symptoms to the doctor, it may trigger him to think about bronchial spasms. And you might want to mention how it comes and goes which will also make him think about spasms and just prescribed an albuterol inhaler to dialate your bronchials then. Asthmatics and those suffering from bronchial allergies use them all the time... no big deal. I do anyway. Hope that helps a little.

Edit: Gooooolly... sorry.... did not mean to write a book. I have trouble getting thoughts together typing and it comes out rambling.

I have seen a doctor (As mentioned in the original post). I have had Lung Capacity Tested, Chest X-Rays and an Eco-Cardiogram. All results are Tip-Top and Totally normal and healthy. In fact my doctor has said that I am in better shape then I should be for having smoked analogs for 17 years. I have only been vaping for 3+ Weeks.

So seeing as though I have a Clean Bill of Health.....any Ideas dear veterans????

Practicing medicine without a licence is a felony, I believe.

Please see ECF InfoZone, our Health Forum and New Members information forum for common symptoms associated with quitting smoking/switching to vaping. Nobody here can diagnose or treat any symptoms.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

I've seen replies from people saying that you might not be getting enough oxygen. I'm not a doctor, but I'm a 911 operator who has heard the shortness of breath and tingling extremes many times. I'm not sure how vaping could be related, and I've seen people suggest you're not getting enough oxygen. In my personal experience, those symptoms occur when someone is getting too much oxygen. For example, you chain vape and take deep breaths for each inhale right after the next. The same symptoms would occur if one was having a panic attack and breathing heavily. Also, when you quit smoking, oxygen is getting into your blood stream much easier than it was before. It'll be much easier for you to hyperventilate. Definitely see your doctor, and I'm not diagnosing by any means, but pay attention to how you're vaping when the symptoms occur. Space out your vapes. I wish you luck...

.DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS COULD BE?

culd very welll be flavorings.

YOu may want to vape plain VG and then plain PG and see if the symptoms return.

I found out that anything w/coconut flavoring makes my stomach hurt and I also get reflux, and some juices have that in them even if it's not in the name or not even coconutty flavor.

I would also reduce the nicotine, it's a vaso constrictor and may be problem for you even though you smoked, also see your doctor for a complete workup up on your arterial system. We can't diagnose you here.

I also thought "anxiety" attacks as well.

I would talk it over w/doctor and also vape w/out flavors and lower nic til that happens and see if any changes

I was a steady to heavy smoker since at 13, being 30 now that is a total of 17 years of 1 pack or more a day. So I would say that a shrinking of bronchial tissue is in order for sure then.

Are you allergic to anything? Perhaps you are allergic/sensitive to some flavoring agents. Have you been vaping the same juice from Virgin Vapor, or switching flavors? Some if their flavorings are dissolved in ethyl alcohol, some are not; the amount of alcohol should be negligible, but it's something to consider. If you didn't shake the bottles, the ingredients may not have been evenly distributed, which could explain why you were ok for a week, then had a reaction (assuming you're using the same bottle). Also, it could have taken a week for whatever is causing the reaction to build up enough for you to have symptoms.
There are two different lines of juices they carry (Virgin Vapor line and Absolute Virgin line). You can see the F.A.Q. on the site to see what the differences are. You could always try another brand; as unlikely as it is, maybe you're sensitive to something in/on the equipment being used to mix or pack the liquid.
I am not a doctor, and you should work with one (get a second opinion?, see an allergist, etc.) until you figure this out. If the symptoms become more frequent or severe, you should discontinue use of whatever you think is causing the reaction, and get to a doctor ASAP.
