Hello
I just recently lost my battery for my 6 month old iPico iStick that I got recommended in a shop while on vacation. I bought a new battery from a site that I've previously ordered ejuices from and a lot of my friends said it's a good site as well so I thought ''Hey what could go wrong?''. When I plugged it in with my vape it said ''Device too hot'' so I thought I must've broken my current iPico as the battery was brand new so I bought another iPico from the same site. The battery didn't work on it either and showed up as ''Device too hot'' so I contacted them regarding the battery and they promised to send another.

I currently have two new batteries (given to me by a friend who ordered too many), two iPico vapes and neither of the batteries seem to work in the iPicos. Both of them show up as ''Device too hot'' and I've used a trusty charger and a new one, both connected to my laptop while trying to charge them. All of the batteries should've been compatible with them according to the store.

Not sure what to do, they're sending a new iPico and battery so I can return the ones who doesn't seem to work but I'm not sure what the problem is. When I put the empty shell without an atomizer or battery in, it shows up with the max settings and wattage. When I put in the new batteries, it says there's batteries in it that are fully charged but won't light up because there's no atomizer. When I put on the atomizer, the battery is empty, the screen flashes and when it try to fire it up it says ''Device is too hot'' and if I change the wattage, it hoes back to what it was before the screen begun to flicker.

What should I do?

Hi VapeHype. Welcome to the ECF.

I'm not sure what is going on with that "Device Too Hot" message you are getting? But it sounds like the Error Message is possibly not related to Temperature.

Do you have a B&M Vape Shop near you that you could take your Pico/Batteries to and have them look at it?

I can't really tell what's going on from your description. I don't know if you have a defective unit or if you're just not familiar with how to operate your device.

If you are getting the "Device Too Hot" error, that suggests that the chip or processor is being over-worked. If the new PICO is saying this without even using it, that suggests to me that the chip is defective and should be replaced by the manufacturer.

I'm also not sure if you are using the proper batteries in the PICO. You failed to mention a brand name or model number. Try to identify the batteries that you have by the graph below.

You also didn't mention what atomizer you are using? What tank, coils, ohms are you using. What power mode are you using the PICO in (TC or Power/watts)?

Going up to the shop I was at during the vacation in a week and I don't think the problem is the temperature either. I've thrown out a lot of money on this and I feel stupid afterwards because nothing seems to work. Also, thank you.

I haven't even used the black one and I used the white one without any problems for 6 months until I changed the battery and I'm fairly certain that I know how it operates. My friend said that the battery might've fried both of the chips but I'm not sure. I've tried one Sony VTC4 IMR 18650 High Drain Flat top (2100mAh, 30A) and two LG HG2 INR18650 High Drain Flat Top (3000mah, 20A).
The white one got defective after changing the battery if it's that that's the problem.

...

Going to a Shop is a Good Call. Because they can try Different Batteries in it. And if a Bunch of Different Batteries make an e-Cigarette do the Same thing, then it is a Good Indicator that the e-Cigarette is Defective.

And Don't Feel Stupid about this. You did the Logical and Normal things we would have done to get things working again.

I'm sure things will Work Out. But I know what a PITA it can be Getting there.

:)

When you say the "black one" and "white one" I'm assuming you mean the PICO's.

Something is definitely strange here and you need someone who has had experience with the PICO to inspect it for malfunction.
My friend suggest that I send it back because the black new pico had all new parts and it's still being wrong and now the one that was good before is wrong now too.

yeah, but I've already blown over 150 usd this month on trying to make this work while I could've bought a really nice thing when I went to the vape shop and it's the first time in 6 months that I've been able to physically go to one, bleh.

I don't know How Much you spent each month on Cigarettes? But when I switched, I was spending about $165 per Month.

I told Myself that even if I had to spend the Same Amount ever month on e-Cigarettes, that it was Worth it. Because Smoking was really taking a Toll on my Health/Life.

Not say'n that Spending $150 and not having a Working Mod is Cool. It Isn't. In fact, it's kinda a Drag. LOL.

But I think you will get things Resolved. And in the End you won't be Out that Entire $150.

Dear VapeHype,
In the future please use discrete charger as eleaf suggests.
Have you tried to update the firmware?
I've used the 2 different chargers who came with each one. I've never used a charger that's not an eleaf one. I haven't tried to update the firmware as I just got it in the mail.
umm obvious question... but are you sure you're not putting the batteries in backwards?
I'm sure I'm not putting them in backwards.

Perhaps some photos of your devices/batteries/chargers/topper(s)/error message(s) might help bridge the "jargon" barrier.

Cheers

External chargers are preferable. Something like the Xtar vc2 or vc4 (with a 2+ amp wall adapter).
