I considered doing a video, but even though my PC and phone takes great pics, getting focus on the tiny parts proved to difficult for me.
What specifically are you unsure of?

Noob question, I have read this whole thread and am getting ready order the supplies needed to try and make the coil however I would like to make sure I have been able to wrap my head around this process and if my idea might work.
First off, sorry if this is long but better to ask first for a better chance of succeeding.
I know I don't have the best gear but I didn't want to fork out a bunch of cash if vaping wasn't for me. (turns out it is)
Using a 1100mAh eGo starter kit. Replaced the ce4 tank with 2ml and a 3ml evod tanks and vaping on 18mg Aloha eJuice.
Love the way my 2ml tank pulls but the 3ml requires a harder pull. This is due to the length and/or air vents being to small If I had to guess. I have tried swapping the bases between the two with no changes which is why I hope using a vertical coil will help.
Making the coil is not a problem so I'll start off with the easy question. If I understand the process and based off of what I am using, making a coil out of 30g Kanthal with 12/13 turns and a 1/16 ID should give me about a 2.2ohm setup. Yes/No?
The wicking is where I'm having thoughts and wondering if any one knows if it has been tried and not listed. I see mention of using hemp string and cotton yarn/balls/qtips all with mixed results. Even seen someone using a Kleenex wrap with cotton balls. Seeing what others have done got me thinking of using a gauze wrap and cooking string.
Using the string would be like that of the hemp but the gauze would be wrapped around the coil under and held in by the top leg. I know some of you are going "It will be a PITA installing the gauze" after the test burn but I'm working out a jig to make the coils with correct legs angels and doing the burn before installing it into the head so the gauze can be done after the burn and before the install.
I hope this made sense. If not I will try and make a sketch on my next day off.
Zen, DILLA CHANGED MY LIFE!! lol had to say it
Anyways, I've been building regular micros for my PT1/2 for a few months now. Tried the vertical a month or so ago but couldn't get it to give me a better vape than my horizantals, I don't think I figured out how to wick it properly either. So Zen, I used 30g on a 1/16' bit also - how many wraps did you do and what was your final resistance??
And are these coils meant for higher-power?? Because I usually vape my horizantal micros around 6.5-8watts, me eVic won't go above 11w/5volts.. I'd like to give it another try
OP...just so you know, this coil is famous...I was at the Jacksonville Walmart on Normandy Drive last week, and found a cluster of three guys having a vaping "staff meeting" near the pharmacy..they were talking about this vertical micro coil![]()
That's awesome! Ecf is at the cusp of the vaping world.
Literally within days, I saw a lot of people come to ecf, see it and take it to other venues as their own and make videos and stuff with-out giving credit to ecf or the people they got it from. It was obvious they got it here on ecf. That irritates me a little but hey that's how the vaping world is. now people around the world are enjoying these vertical coils. It's amazing how it exploded.
Hey Bsd I've got the hemp working for me. I've found I have to use a little more density and moved to just a light fill around the coil in the oddy and getting good results. There really is a lot of hemp here. Thanks bud.
