I am looking for some help from a savvy vape veteran. I've been vaping now for 2 months and have been enjoying it. I have been completely off cigarettes since (not even 1!!) and want to continue this habit. I have recently started buying juices with 6mg of nic in them as well so I can gradually get off nic all together. I still have lots of 12mg bottles to go through so it will probably be a couple of months before I touch the 6mg ones but I do plan on going with that from here on out.

With all that said, my current setup is very noob-ish. I am using an iTaste VV 3.0 with a Kanger EVOD BCC. I sometimes use the ProTank 2 but I've been enjoying the EVOD a lot more. I have two sets of EVOD's, one ProTank 2 and one battery (VV 3.0). The battery is good enough to last me all day (I try not to vape too much). I go through about 1.5ml of juice a day, sometimes 2ml.

Now that you know my life story, I'd like to get a little more involved with vaping hardware. I am still a big noob at this, so if you asked me to purchase a mech mod, I'd probably buy the mod with a wrong battery and then no figure out where to put the juice. Seriously. Do the mech mods even use regular clearomizers? Can I even put my EVODs on a mech mod? I am confused. I see pictures of peoples mods, and I see "tanks" that look nothing like clearos.

This is why I am asking for help. If you had $100 to spend on a mech mod. What would you get?. I obviously need the mod, the battery/charger and anything else it comes with. If $100 is on the cheap side, I can spend a little more but I am on a budget here. I also prefer to do business with CanVape. So anything on their website would be great. With my current setup, I find that I end up vaping one flavor a day. This is fine for me, an EVOD holds 1.5ml of juice I believe so it lasts me the day. I have about 15 different bottles in my cabinet right now. I would like to switch it up a little more often. Maybe try 2 or 3 flavors in one day. So maybe I would benefit from a tank that holds a little less?. Or with a second tank all together I could probably just switch tanks when I feel like trying a different juice. I don't believe I would enjoy dripping. Don't think I can get used to refilling it everytime I want to vape.

For someone who doesn't really have an ADV, likes to try different juices every day and doesn't need a big battery. What would you recommend for me? Also, any safety features built into the mod/battery is a plus. I don't want to blow my face off.

Thanks!

Greetings An Innokin VV and an EVOD doesn't sound particularly newbish, what's lacking in your current setup that you hope to change, and what to you hope to get out of a mech mod?

I'm guessing that if you're not referring to cartomizers, then you're talking about rebuildable atomizers or dripping setups (RBAs and RDAs), which a lot of people use with mech mods. Can you put up some pix or links? Short answer to your question is that most mods have 510 threading only, the smaller socket that's compatable with full-sized Pro Tanks. Some clearomizers, like the Pro Tank mini, have cone threading which is not compatible with many mech mods (unless you use an adapter).

Unless you're ready to dive into the realm of RBAs, battery safety, and a host of other things that go with mechanicals, you may want to just stick with your current setup. Or possibly a larger regulated mod. While most clearos and tanks will work on a mechanical, IMO it defeats the purpose of using a mech mod to begin with.

Here's my 2 cents:
If you want you're order to arrive within 2 days, then go with Canvape but if budget is more important than timing, I'd stick with an asian distributor like Fasttech. Yes, it will take longer to arrive but you'll get more bang for the buck that way.
As others have mentioned, people tend to use mech mods with rebuildables. However, if you like the look of the mods and still don't feel comfortable rebuilding a coil, I'd get a mod that can accommodate a kick (makes the mod VW) and use it with clearos/cartos.

I think you're $100 budget can get you quite far at a place like Fasttech
- mod clone (between $15 and $30)
I was considering one of those 3
$29.08 Nemesis Mechanical Mod - stainless steel / with telescopic 510 center pin at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
$16.22 Sentinel M16 Telescopic Mechanical Mod - brass at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
$16.08 Pisces Telescopic Mechanical Mod - stainless steel at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

- a kick $8 https://www.fasttech.com/p/1501000

- Charger $15 http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10001638/1119500-nitecore-i2-lithium-li-ion-ni-mh-ni-cd-smart

- I'd get a good value-for-price dripper just to get familiar with building coils $7 $6.46 IGO-W Stainless Steel Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer - silver / 1.6ohm / adjustable resistance / double heating wires at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

- Some silica $4 $3.78 Silica Wick for Rebuildable Atomizers (5M / 16.4ft) at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

If you go with the Pisces or M16, you're only at 50 bucks so you'd have another 50 buck to play with.
You could try ordering batteries from fasttech as well but I'd make a separate order for that as there's been reports that Hong Kong post has been holding shipments with batteries. Or you can get the batteries locally, 2 x 18350 would be the bare minimum, if you can, maybe add a 18500 or 18650 depending on the mod you'll get so it can still accommodate the kick
Then get some Kanthal A1, maybe some 32, 30 and 28 awg that is fairly cheap on ebay or vape store and you're pretty much set to
1) vape right out of the box with your clearo/carto (given that they are 510 threaded)
2) have what you need to give rebuilding a coil a try
and all below your budget ;)

Have fun :vapor:

I do enjoy my current setup. I think the vapor production is good and I like the ease of use. I purchased 10 extra heads/coils to go with the EVOD/ProTank and I usually just dispose of those every 2-3 weeks when the flavor starts to change.

If there is something I would like to change about the setup, it would probably be the clearomizers. I like the clearos, but I also really like the idea Dahlialady pointed out about those cheap disposable clearos. I could really make use of having multiple clearos with different juices inside. This way, I do not have to empty out my tank back into the bottle every time I want to change flavors. I can just replace the clearo and go.

Can I get more recommendations for these? Or is their something better that I can use?

$12.77 CE6 Electronic Cigarettes Round Mouth Atomizer (7-Pack) 7-pack at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I will probably order from FastTech. I will probably end up purchasing a backup battery as well.

You guys talked me out of a mech mod. I will be purchasing from fast tech.. this is what I will be buying (didn't realize their clearos were so cheap!)

$39.54 Authentic iTaste VW V3.0 7-in-1 Variable Voltage Rechargeable 800mAh Electronic Cigarettes Set - vv-3.0 at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Another iTaste VV 3.0 (different color)
4 x iClear 16
2 x Kanger EVODs

Since the EVODS and iClears are so cheap on this site, I will buy extras so I can use one for each juice. How do the iClears stack up? Should I go all iClear? or should I keep going with the EVODs?. I do have 10 extra heads/coils for the EVOD so I can make use of those. Doesn't seem like much of a point in buying the replacement head/coils anymore since they are so damn cheap to replace the whole thing on FastTech.

No problem. I am about to checkout right now!

Decided to buy 2 extra EVODS (in black to match the new batt), I also purchased the 7 pack Dahlialady recommended.

The iTaste VV 3.0 comes with 4 iClear 16s. This should be enough to try out all my juices plus some.

Will FastTech shipping to Canada give problems because their is a battery involved? Also at checkout, which shipping method should I use? I see the Canada Express ePacket states 8-10 days and is only $2 for shipping.

Nevermind, I see that using the E-Packet will give issues with any eliquids and batteries.. I will stick to their registered Air Mail which says built in batteries are fine.

You shouldn't have a problem with the ITASTE vv3 battery. That looks like a sweet deal. I just purchsed an ITASTE SVD. I didn't get the battery because those require batteries Fast Tech just won't ship due to air freight regulations. I'll get the batteries locally at 4 times the price. ARGH! But with the VVbattery, ego twists, etc there doesn't seem to be a problem.

I also like the VV3 you are getting because it has a pass through. You can vape at the computer while it recharges.

Yeah this will be my second iTaste VV 3.0 now. I own a Stainless Steel one right now, and then I ordered the Black one above. The battery wasn't the issue with my setup, it's always been the lack of clearos for my juices. That shouldn't be a problem now as I'll own 4 EVODS, 4 iTaste 16s and 7 of those CE6 clearos. I'll probably use 5 at any given time and load each one up with a different juice. I have a ProTank 2 as well for any juice that might crack the other cartos. I should be satisfied now!.

Thanks for the recommendation of FastTech!

You can't beat a mech mod + RBA/RDA when it comes to flavor and vapor production. I've been through a bunch of different clearomizers and carto tank systems and even the latest and greatest bottom dual coil heads can't compete with even a low quality Trident clone or IGO-W

Greetings spaceman thanks for the post. How convenient do you find it to take your Trident or IGO with you when you're out?

I just got a Kayfun clone, and I like it a lot, but size alone makes it something that I probably won't take out of the house. And if the coil ever went wonky while not at home, there's no way to replace it (I always carry a spare PT replacement head in my little EGO vape case).

Trident is good. Friend has an IGO-W and it performs well. Drippers in general are nice because they only hold liquid in the wick so should have little to no risk of leaking. The Immortalizer is really the way to go. There isn't too much functional design difference between most drippers even two post vs three post. The Immortalizer is somewhat unique. The Origen dripper is getting hyped up but I don't know if it's going to be significantly different from other RDAs other than greater refinement.

Go cheap when trying out new gear, imo. If all you're used to is a regulated VV device, you might not like a mech mod.

Also, RBAs have a big learning curve. I've been vaping for years and still don't use them. I just can't get them to a point where they're enjoyable. I just find a clearo I like and stick with it.

The kayfun is rather tall, which is yet another benefit of RDAs. No tank to add height. Just a coil and wick in there. Regarding replacing a coil on the go, I would just carry a spare atomizer in a jacket pocket or glove compartment. If you use thicker gauge wire you reduce the risk of the coil "burning out".
