I forgot about that one.
At the time I was glad to be using smaller 18350 in a safer Altoids mod.
Now I'm using the more powerful 18650 and 18350 in more dangerous tube mods.
Maybe I'll bias toward 18350 use.
Could even switch back to Altoids mod once excitement of polished tube mods wears off.

Personally, I think the vaping community should be trying to convince people to always use lipo charging bags. They are cheap and add a fair amount of protection against batteries exploding/venting while on the charger. And the vast majority of the time, when a battery "explodes" it's either on the charger, or it's the very, very first time it was put under load after coming off the charger. (ie, the first time you hit the power button. Which is why some say to hit the button, that first time off the charger, while holding it at arms length.)

But these kinds of things are very, very rare anyway, and I suspect that a lot of the companies don't want to sell lipo charging bags because when you start saying "And you need to buy some safety equipment" you scare the uninformed.

When people tell me "I heard about a battery that exploded" I tell them "Yes, I'm aware. But that can happen to any battery. Your cell phone battery, the one in your laptop, the one in your car. Google for 'Prius battery fire' and you can find an example of a major fire. Any battery can explode, and if you follow basic safety procedure, it's not enough risk to concern yourself".

Probably the biggest change I've made is that I used to use a mod that had stacked batteries, and I'll no longer buy anything that stacks batteries, as it seems to add a fair amount of risk and there are better options.

Gonna have to disagree with you on this one. Those lipo charging bags are for RC lipos where the charger has leads that connect to the battery. Those bags are not meant to house the charger. Chargers generate heat, it's inevitable unless you can create a charger that's %100 efficient. Now if you're using a charger that does have leads then i stand corrected as it's being used as intended, but I've yet to come by anyone who is.

I read your original post, but have not filtered thought the 13 pages since! I have wanted to chime in with my $0.02...

Aren't you glad that there are many, many options for us? If mechs aren't for you, there are VV/VW APVs.. if that's not your style, there are eGo style.. even down to the tiny little 650mah versions... the world is your oyster, and there is a device that is your pearl.

Vape on!

Yes indeed! Kanger Evod seems to be my pearl since day one!

I keep charging batts and loose bats in metal tool box and sleep easy.
I think the holy grail is ammo box.
I'm unimpressed with Li-Po charge bags.

I store all of my lipo's in ammo cans. Make sure you remove the seal from the lid. You want the ammo can to contain it but not be pressurized.

Decent Ego battery chargers have leads. My 5 all have 6" leads, plenty to use a Bag is I felt the need.
Removable Batteries should be IMR - cost difference is not a critical issue and safety is much higher. Just my :2c:

Not directed at you, really. What you wrote just brought up an old thought.

I find it ironic being preached to about mechs being unsafe by people who swear by eGo batteries with their unknown chemistry/discharge rating cells in sealed tubes; and the chargers that go with them. I have yet to see an eGo battery clearly state what chemistry cell they use, or an eGo charger that clearly states it uses proper li-ion charging algorithms. "Safety" is not really a measure of how well things work when they work, but how they fail when they fail.

... then again. Had this discussion before. I'm picturing half the forum facepalming and going "Oh no, not again" :)
