Building a "hana" style mod with the fasttech enclosure: looking for tips, tricks, and suggestions

I just saw questions about wow Guage fire the dna switches, I just thought I'd add that on one of my DNA40s I used the wires out of telephone cable, worked great, cones with 6 or 8 different colors. Here's part of my wiring job..:

I used the ribbon cable from an old floppy drive out of a computer hulk I have laying around. Worked fine. It's only a logic function and doesn't carry any significant voltage. I think it was 28ga.

DNA30 all put together...well I have to glue in the charger but everything else is done. Having the wires underneath the dna makes it a bit cleaner, but boy is that a PITA to get the wires the right length!

I share your pain. My DNA 40 mod is in a different fasttech case and the up and down switches have to run down around the battery pack and back up the length of the battery to the board. I screwed the length up and now have to splice in an extension. Oh, what fun!!

Stainless would be great. Maybe a RC hobby shop. The closest to me is about 20 miles away and I was hoping that maybe Radio Shack might??

Why don't put some magnets in and have a tool less removable cover? Just a thought...

I think they are stainless steel (not magnetic) not aluminium (way too soft). Diameter is 1.9mm so I guess it's a metric M2 screw?

I've replaced mine with 3mm diameter magnets in the lid and the case, couldn't be happier.

However, some of the alts think that magnets are a much better direction to go

Just curious, what's the difference. I have a SX350 board in my homebuilt mod. It might as well be a 20 watt mod because I rarely, if at all, run it any higher. I feel that if the board fits where I want to use it it's good.

Why would I spend $60+ for a 60w chipset when all I need/want is an inexpensive, reliable 20w board? It's all about matching the appropriate engine to the chassis. A Chevy small-block in a '70 Super Beetle is not only inappropriate but dangerous...

I saw one with 327 in it when I was a kid. Every time he would rev it up the torque would almost flip it onto it's side.

The 30w works good. For some reason at a high ohm load 1.5 or above it seems to not be able to boost regulate the required voltage at high watts. I built one a month ago and a friend now has it and I see it in action every couple days. Its a good mod, if you expect to much out of it in means of high watts you may be disappointed. He is using a dripper with a single 30 guage twisted coil for a all day vape. I have not said anything to him about it he is happier than a pig in .... to have it after his mod was stolen, and at this point im not going to burst his bubble

The 20w may be different but I would assume its the same caliber. Either way its a good regulated vape, at least I think it is.

The cell I installed in it is a Efest 3100 mah 20a, The battery may have to much sag to pull 25 or 30 watts with that ohm load? But it does not give any warning that the cell is bad so I lean more to the board cant hang that high. 15 to 20 watts its does what its suppose to do.

It's probably limited by the boost circuit voltage i.e. If the max voltage is 6V then with a 1.5 ohm coil you can't get over 24w no matter what. A 1 ohm coil at 6V would give 36W so the boost circuit only needs to provide 5.47V to achieve 30W.

The original dna doesn't have the 6V limitation (they go up to 8 something I think) but we are talking about the clone boards right? They might be limited.

Even the $120+ evicS is limited to 6V and same goes to the sigelei zMax so it's not too far fetched, the clone chips having the same limitations which would explain why your friend's mod won't reach 30w on a 1.5 ohm build. Make him try a 1 ohm build and discretely check if it hits 30 watts

I have a DNA30 type clone box, and it goes over 7V on the display and measured output.

Yah I was thinking its 7.8, I can get it fire at 6.7 with a 1.5 ohm load so its a bit off. You said your wanting the mini hana case in a dyi kit? I seen some last couple days I will see if I can find them.

I do know this my sx350 puts out, and when its done with that it puts out more. Super nice board the sx350 is, I have not done the 60w upgrade yet but will this week, I dont need it thats for sure but nice to have I guess.

Well if it goes above 6V then I have no idea why its not hitting 30W... whats the max current rating for the chip? 1.5 Ohm coil at 6.71V will produce a load of 4.47A at 30W... either the batt or the chip isn't handling that.

If you find some mini's, let me know I know about the Fasttech ones but they are only 68mm, can't fit a 18650 there. I have another mini in the mail which is 72mm that should do the trick but would like to have more options
