A m2 screw is 2mm on the outside and 1.6 between threads give or take. Sizes are so small, it will will be easier just to try the screw. The aluminum is so soft he probably could use a self tapping screw and get away with it :)

I'd love to try the screws for size but, here in Virginia I haven't found any place that sells screws that small. Any ideas on where to find them would be appreciated. I need longer self tapping screws to hold the end on a custom box ordered from FT.

I know these guys have every metric screw known to man.

I ordered once from them 8 years ago because they were selling conversion kits for rc helis (Philips -> torx).

Living in Europe, getting metric screws is easy but the smaller size (1.6mm, 2mm) can't be found on every corner.

Another option is eBay.

Hi Everyone just marking all my old threads so I can find them again easily :)
Ordered 2 FT enclosures for my SX350 chips :) The hammond box's there in now just aren't cutting it
Will post pics when there moved over to FT enclosures :)

Keep us updated and please post pics of the build. I am thinking of building one also. I haven't used the sx350 yet so hope it's as good or better than the cloupor DNA30 I currently am using.

I got my SX350 Chips installed in the FT enclosure :) I had these chips a long time now they were in Hammond boxes, that I got pre painted so I was unable to sand out the tilt with out refinishing them :(
Needles to say the tilt really bugged me .
These enclosures are real nice same as the DNA one's Now they come with spring loaded 510's. I had the FD v3's so I just used them.
The spring load setup is the same on the FT enclosure 510's as the FD V3's, so now I have spare springs and plastic inserts,Bonus :)
There kinda of mess for my liking full of hot glue but they work well.
The SX350 chip altho not my favourite is real easy to work with the wires are soldered on for the most part and these mods go together real easy.
If you have little experience modding but want to build your own mod this is the one:)

Steamer, how are the fire buttons treating you on these newer kits? I bought into the same SX kit really early on and the original fire button developed a bounce.
I have five of these newer enclosures and have been holding off on the builds to try and find any bad reports before I go through with the builds. I'm doing Varitube style 510s with copper center pins and mag held battery covers I think as well.

The window is not an issue. As for the buttons does the chip have terminals, or I should monkey around with existing connections?

The fire switch is off-board. The up/down switches are soldered to PCB. They would require snipping and soldering.

I'm wondering if the USB port, soldered on PCB, would line up with the opening on the enclosure and position the screen close to the existing screen opening. This would require simply opening the cutout for the screen.

The drawings supplied on the Varitube website don't offer all the dimensions needed to determine the suitability.

This was not designed as a "modder's board". It seems to have been laid out for Yihi's SX Mini. I guess others are supposed to design an enclosure around the board. Maybe a Hammond-type enclosure would be a better choice for the SXmini J?

other than the fire button which would have to be extended from the original connection points.

Yes and epoxied to the main board.

I haven't built any Hammond boxes so I couldn't tell you.

The fire button isn't so great. They have a SS frame and a cheap button under it.
I had to epoxy it in there, no bounce yet but I will probably change them out sooner or later.
I like the look of the flat button. Just got to find some thing that looks the same but works better.

Hey guys

Remember that first black mini hana project I did and the guy I asked to tap the hole ruined the finish?

Well, despite having built a grey one, I always felt it was pitty throw away that black box.

Since I now feel the need to have a beater mod for the summer, I decided to try to make something out of it:

This is still 600 grit wet sanded only and I will still use some 800 and 1200 wet grit on it but I was already able to remove those ugly dents.

Unfortunately I have no access to an anodizing shop for a clear coat and I really don't want to paint it. I was thinking in using some eukanuba wax to prevent oxidation but I'm open to suggestions :)

Do you have any place that can powder coat near you? You could have a clear powder coat put on it or maybe a ceracoat clear if they make it.
