If anyone is interested, I've finally received my updated cradle from shapeways.com, and it fits like a glove :)

Now I finally get to join in on the fun you all have been having, wish me luck :)

That cradle looks great!

Trying it on my next build. I just got two broken Cana's. (Cani?)

I'm going to gut them for the box and start over with them.

anumber1, Thanks! I can't promise it'll work on your Canas, but if the interior dimension will accommodate the following measurements, then you'll be good to go. MM: 20.76 w x 35.96 d x 11.46 h :)

Great! Thanks for the measurements.

When I get my broken cani I will check the measurements.

Thanks!

lot17ss, thanks for the suggestion!

I looked at it again, and I totally agree. I'll be switching it for sure :)

Let me know when you swap it around. I like your design a little better that the one Bap and mamu have. Looks like it would be easier to replace the board should anything happen.

Ok, I started the build on my DIY Hana box and here are some notes:

20ga wire used for battery and 510 connections
22ga wire used for button
Evolv dna 30
FDV V3 with 22mm locking base. (issues here, but resolved by FDV)
USB chip also from Evolv (Still debating whether I even want to put it in this unit or not).

Throw aways: All wires, buttons, 510 provided with the kit. I did not want a hana/chana/bana clone! Just wanted the box as a base to build my first mod with little work.

While you can't really see it in this pic, when I drilled out the holes for the buttons I drilled straight through the center divider to give me room to swing the buttons into place once I wired/shrink tubed them.

With battery inserted I was able to test some of the DNA functions which work I'm glad to say.

Drilled and tapped top for FDV V3 510 using M10x1.5 only to find out after the fact the the 510 I received from FDV was part of a defective run and the threading was wrong. I contacted Dennis at FDV and he is sending me a good one that matches the threading (m10x1.5). Note he informed me that all future threading on the 510 with be M10x1.0

I'll post more pics when I'm ready to mount the LCD and receive my replacement 510 from FDV.

Just a note: while I could have bought a fully built clone I like to tinker and work with my hands so this was more about the project and building something than it was about getting a Hana/Nana/Cana clone.

Using the cradle did the display center and line up with the box cutout? Doesn't look like there's much room for adjustment side to side using it so just wondering if it centered. I was just going to glue mine in but this looks like less of a challenge, that is if I can wait for it. :)

TIP: use 3m indoor/outdoor double sided tape and place a cut between the back of the screen and the heatsink on the DNA chip. This will add padding between the screen and chip as well as allow you to reposition easily if needed.

Nomoreash, you're right, but I've left some space around the display to make slight top to bottom adjustments :)
