The Silver 50w Mini that I ordered (w/LiPo's) is scheduled to ship today. Maybe. I took the puzzle tips out of my cart on account of the long lead time. Still in my wishlist though. Weird. Just felt like I should commiserate.

Edit: Looks like I'll be waiting another week on that Mini SKU:1952702 .

Hi again.

We are probably not speaking of the same FT mod here... I just checked (as I did yesterday) and it still says "Shipping in 10 business days". The SKU I ordered was: 1723501 which is the version with the "better" finish and has, in fact, 2 x 800mAh lipos in it and not 2 x 600mAh. Not that it matters much as I'm going to ram a 18650 in it but nevertheless... :)

Tony

No, it was the same one for $48.32. They just changed it yesterday to 10 day wait. (Yes, I was stalking it)

Looks quite nice :)

I didn't bother with the 50W version as the plan is to stick a dna 40 in it :)

Regards
Tony

Same here. I'm already looking at DNA 40 deals.

I got my tracking # for my VS rDNA 40 this morning :D

I have no such plans at the moment and I avoided the 18490 FastTechFake Hana Mini because I've got a FakeZNA that just burns through even these newest AW 1200mAh batteries, so I thought I'd give the LiPo's a shot. Though I am of course apprehensively skeptical of their potential reliability and performance, with them being FastTech tech and considering how much of a crapshoot most of us know that all can be.

Honestly, really -- if I'm honest and I'm honestly trying to be, so that should count for something -- I probably should have just saved all the earnings I've up to this point *wasted* on a slew of far less them awesome regulated boxes and picked up the following three units instead. In no particular order: 1) Billet Box 2) Raptor Box and 3) VS rDNA 40.

Oh but I'm not doing this to save money. I'm doing it for the fun of modding and make something exactly how I like it.

I will however try the stock mod for a few days to see if I even like box mods. After that, the only thing that I'll keep is the casing. I'm planning to replace the buttons, board, 510 connector and battery... Basically every moving or electronic part.

The Hana clones have been around long enough that most of the bugs are ironed out. There's still a chance to get a DOA but it's far less common now. I liked the shape of the FT mini version over the FC one. I didn't like the logo but I'd rather have comfort over annoying logo. Besides, I can always use a wrap or re-finish it. Harder to mill softer corners.

As Tony said, this is more about modding than saving money. I just upgraded the 510 on my MVP2 to a VT 510 just because I had a few extra VT 510's. I found out I like box mods over tubes after trying out the MVP2 and Istick.

I'm planning on using it as is for a while too.

I just found out that my first Hana clone is here but the USPS is frikkin dumb. They left a note so I called them. I might be able to pick it up this afternoon or tomorrow .

Just got the first clone today. This is the one from Focalecig made by KSD. USPS is a pain in the ..... I had to go pick it up because the mailman was too lazy to wait for me to answer the door.

Initial thoughts are to mod this sooner than later. The box itself isn't too bad but its built to a very low price point. I've already had the fire button stick but flicking it to the side unstuck it. Otherwise, the buttons feel nice. Not too stiff. I can say that the "wait to fire from sleep" is going to get annoying. The box isn't as rounded as the FT version so it feels more boxy if that makes sense. All the functions work fine. The ohms read .1 high. It looks like the ground wire is soldered to the 510 and not screwed to the case.

The buttons are all crooked.

Wires are bent at sharp angles and I had to clean up the glue a bit, picking out all the stringy stuff.

Well? Is it done yet? :)

About myself... the latest update is that there arn't any updates... for the last 5 days, the tracking info states: "Information Received (This is not an acknowledgment of the physical receipt of the stated Registered Article)" which is weird... fasttech says it shipped on the 20th but no tracking update at all... :|

I guess I will get the mod next year :(

I was going to wait until I got my VS rDNA which was supposed to be today but USPS sucks. Hopefully tomorrow.

I was playing with the buttons I got yesterday and trying to figure out how to wire the LED. Looks like a few others ran into the same problem and most just didn't wire the LED. The ones that did, needed resistors and it blew after less than a week. I'll probably not wire the LED.

I also read that these switches (the one with the LED) were on a tube mod before and the biggest complaint was that it was hard to activate. The physical surface of the two buttons is also different. The one w/o the led is a bit bigger and makes pressing the button a bit easier. I tested with my dmm again and found that I could activate both w/o any issue. I also thought about gettting the convex version where the button sits about 1-2mm high and is flush when pressed but that would make it hard to carry the mod in my pocket.

So I'm up in the air about what to do with the buttons. The stock buttons don't seem too bad for me right now.

I also talked with another member that scored 7 boxes from elev8vape for $5 ea. and I'm buying 2 from him. I think my Mini won't come until after xmas. It won't ship until the 5th and it has a battery so it might be delayed.

Waiting for vape mail sucks. Especially when it doesn't get delivered on the date its supposed to .

I went through all those issues with the buttons just like you. That's when I came across that button I mentioned and a member here on ECF told me about the 0.3mm travel. Seems he likes it very much.

However, based on your remark about the bezel size, I will wait until I have the mod in my hands and until I experiment with a 16mm dia disk shaped carton board.

The stock button style isn't bad at all. If you really want peace of mind and use those, get the original (KJ or something like that) which are of better quality and might last forever. At least that's my plan B :)

Update:

26-11-2014 Despatched to overseas (Country code: PT)

6 days to put it in the mail? This thing will never arrive before the end of the year :(

C&K buttons. VariTube has them for $1.75.

Yeah, I was thinking of getting a bunch of them too.

That's pretty cheap. The source where I want to get mines (together with a bunch of other stuff) is selling them at almost $5 each :(

VariTube is the place for the buttons. You should just buy from them. You can get VT 510's and buttons.
