IGO-L Arrived today.

34ga Kanthal D
Boiled cotton wick
3-4 wraps
2.5 ohms

The first coil I made was 5.9 ohms...
This was the second. Don't snicker. Looks terrible and it is killing my OCD but with practice...

So, can I be an official member of the rda club? Holy cow, this is fun and awesome. Thanks ECF folks!

I like to vape 2.5-3 ohms, but now I am starting to understand. Higher gauge, higher resistance, less wraps, less surface area. Already going to order some 28. This is a whole new world for me and now I know why drippers love it. When it gunks up or stars declining, change the wick or make a new coil and vape on. I am always open to suggestions. What leads you to ask. What do you suggest, I am all about constructive criticism and learning from others. :vapor:

Honestly I wouldn't recommend 28 gauge for MVP. I know it is all the rage and honestly it's awesome for low ohm builds, but for >1.3 ohm builds, it takes quite a while to heat up. I'd recommend 30 guage as the sweet spot for your set up. Heck order some of both but I can already say which you'll likely end up preferring.

I can't believe I'm saying this but if you like the high ohm builds, maybe even try 32 gauge.

OK, 30 ga. I see what you are saying because the MVP will cutout below a certain resistance. Hmmmm, after I get used to this, a new PV is in order?

I can also feel the difference as far as nic. I am vaping 12mg now and I thought it was week in my cartos but now it is hitting the spot. I think I might go practice wrapping coils now. I want to get them tighter and neater.

Thanks for the advice.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. I did RDA on my MVP happily for months. I did however end up getting a mech mod (always chasing a better vape). Between the two I'd have a hard time telling you which I prefer. The MVP is more practical in size and battery life, but if I have to be honest with myself I'd probably admit I prefer 1 ohm vaping.

Well, then you advice is worth more than :2c: considering your set up and experiance. When I get better at this, I will post more. :D Thanks again. I think I am just looking for an excuse to buy another PV even though I am in love with my MVP. I don't know how many times I have dropped or sat on this thing and it still keeps ticking.

Torch your single strands, about 18" fold in half. Tie a knot in the end with the 2 wires slip a precision screw driver in each end and twist it 150 times or so. Then build your coil as you normally would, just use more wraps to get a higher resistance!

LOL. that was a pic of my setup above. :) I used a drill instead of two screwdrivers. So I guess I just learned some techniques to keep the coils tight so I will practice those next. Also, if you haven't looked into it, there are a ton of videos by Rip Trippers on twisting different wires to make different things. Vape on! :vapor:

I use 32 gauge kanthal in my AGA T2 on my MVP 2 at around 1.3- 1.5 and it's enough vapor for me and I only set it at 7.5 -8.0 watts.
Just experiment with it and you'll find your sweet spot.

Good luck.

Ha - we're vape twins. That's my main setup as well, in every detail!
