I have steadily lowered the nic concentration in my juice over the last several months. My last bottle was 12mg and I could still taste the faint flavour of nicotine. Now I'm down to 9mg and I can't detect any nicotine.

Thought one, I could just quit.

Thought two, I could hover at 12mg for a while.

Thing is, I never really liked flavouring that much, aside from tobacco flavour. But after cutting the nic juice with PG, there's very little flavour left. At 9mg, I'm basically vapeing PG.

So, if there is to be any purpose in this thread besides my rambling, perhaps those of you who vape 9mg (or less) fluid, could talk about any difficulties that arose when moving to low nic fluid.:)

I'm seriously thinking about quitting. I think I can do it, but I hesitate, like a first jump from the high dive. One thing I've noticed is that every time I bump down the nic content, I go through a 2-3 day withdraw/adjustment period, and then the juice is fine again. But like I said, the 9mg doesn't have any noticable nicotine so there's not much to hold on to.

I'm seriously considering ordering some 12mg tobacco flavour to cut down, just to have a little flavour. Thing is, I'm still sitting on about 200 ml of 48mg tobacco juice in an open bottle. I would hesitate to try and sell 'used' juice.

Can you not buy a 'doubler' of tobacco flavor and cut your high nic juice with it?
Doubler would be the 0 nic version of the high nic juice you have - most - but not all - ejuice suppliers can do a 0 (zero) nic version and its usually offered in the same drop down menu you use for the +nic juice. That way you would get LOWER nic but no taste loss.
All the suppliers I have used personally (Ms Ts Bakery, Tasty vapor and DIYFlavorshack) offer this option, and many people who ont use nic at all anymore use it to just vape the nice flavors. Of course I don't know which supplier you get your tobacco flavors from, but its worth finding out if they do a no nic version of your fave flavors.

The trouble I've noticed in cutting down is loss of throat hit. I just can't give that up.

Flavor, on the other hand, is easy to maintain. Get a TastyVapor doubler (0mg, same strength flavor), $15 for 120ml and use it to cut down.

Or buy some FlavourArt tobacco flavorings from HappyVaper.com (they sell the small sample sizes unlike FlavourArt.it itself) and add to your mostly-PG cut mixes.

Good luck with reducing the nic. It's my goal too. But make it as easy for yourself as possible -- no vaping flavorless PG. ;)

Well for now I'm moving back to 12mg. I think I have been pushing myself a little too fast. I've been jumping down in 3mg increments, but from 12 to 9 is a 25% reduction.

And Tasty Vapor sells tobacco flavoured doubler! Hopefully that and a little more patience will help me past the 9mg barrier. I guess 9mg does have noticable vapor if I vape long enough, but I'm not a fan of long vape times. I'd rather hit the PV a few times and put it down.

On the plus side, I vaped some 18mg juice I had sitting around last night, and that stuff really nocked my socks off:lol: which is funny because I though 18mg was weak sauce when I was comming off tobacco... had to use 36. So at least I have been conditioning myself for less nicotine.

Thanks for the advice guys/girls, I think a large part of my success is due to the support here.:)

The 9mg still has a bit of throat hit, though I associate it more with the PG. I have some 12mg PG-free juice (VG based) that has almost no throat hit unless I let the atomizer get dry.

I think the problem was that I didn't give myself time to adjust to the 12mg. I was switching down every week. After spending a little more time with the 12mg, I've been able to move to the 9mg.

I've also noticed that my use has become more sporadic. I'll go for longer periods without vapeing, and will sometimes only take a few vapes because I'm "not getting much anyway". Whether the effectiveness of nicotine delivery in vapour is compromised in low concentrations, I'm not sure, though looking back on my prior usage it does seem to be the case (4 hits of 24mg is much more satisfying for the nic craving than 8 hits of 12mg)

Either way, after using the 9mg a bit I'm pretty sure I can taste the nicotine (which is different than getting a throat hit), so I'm not psyching myself into believing 9mg delivers NO nicotine... it's just weak, which it should be.

Anyway, after getting over this hump I don't think moving to 6 and 3mg will be a major problem, though I'm backing off to switching down every 2 weeks instead of every week. This will put me at zero in about 1.5 months.

Not counting my eggs yet, but it's a little bit exciting.

Little update on my trip to zero. I'm currently vapeing 6mg juice!

I'm not sure if the jump from 12mg to 9mg was difficult because of a psychological reason, or if my nicotine levels were just dipping below my bodys comfort zone. At any rate, spending an extra week with 12mg then moving to 9mg smoothed things out.

Going from 9mg to 6mg was much easier, for some reason I do not know.

It's odd too, I've been vaping a lot less in the morning and through the day, but I've started to vape more in the late evening, maybe to make up for it or to boost my levels for the nights sleep. But overall I'm vapeing less... 5ml over the last 3 days.

Next up is 3mg, and I will be at zero within 3 weeks. And I haven't had a tobacco cigarette since Dec 31! This will be my first smoke free year since I was 15!!! That was 22 years ago.

E-cigs Rock!

a doctor told me that when i reach 8mg i would not feel that need to get that next hit. havent got there yet, i am at 12mg atm. even if i do get to 0mg i am NOT going to quit Vaping anytime soon. i enjoy the experience way too much.

i am learning to substitute the throat hit with what you get from exhaling thru your nose (nose hit?!?!?) with gobs of vaper. the more the better.
