I vape pre-made and DIY juices. I also vape unflavored sometimes (all regular "freebase" nic) I have never noticed a "peppery" taste". I quit smoking thanks to vaping (for many months) but have slipped back into smoking (and vaping) I have gone through some odd things with taste. Also, one time I had this nasty cold (but just a cold) and could not taste anything for weeks.
Not exactly on topic, but always takes sips of water while vaping.
BTW, are you sure it's 3 mg juice and not 3 % (that would be 30 mg)?

Ive always vaped juices with 3mg Nic and have never been bothered by the taste of it. Now, a couple of weeks ago i quit smoking cigarettes and picked up my vapes again and orderes some new juices as well.

the problem is I get a strong and "peppery" taste of the nicotine and it feel like im vaping like 9mg juices. It really bothers me since I dont get the most flavour out of my juices.

Has someone experienced the same thing? what is going on? i bought 4 differens e-juices and there regular nic in 2 of them and salt nic-shots (for shortfills) in the other 2. they all taste the same in regards to that awful taste.

lets face it, im addicted to nicotine. i will eventually start vaping 0mg but if i do that right now, im afraid i will go back to the cancer-sticks :(

Some nicotine is more peppery tasting and when that's the case it usually also gives you more throat hit. I like that nic because I vape low nic juices and I like TH, so I look for it. Many people stay away from it preferring the cleaner tasting nicotines.

IMO, you've either got juice made using this type of nic, or you've got juice that has a higher amount of nic than you thought as @vaper1960 mentioned. There could also be the possibility that some flavorings in your juice could lean toward the peppery side, but you are an experienced vaper so I don't think this is the case here from what you describe.

Best of luck with it :thumb:

@MrMike84, what kit or mod and tank are you using?

I've got a weird line of thought here but bear with me.

I'm thinking that you may be able to taste the metal that the coils are made from.

Personally I just don't like Kanthal, it tastes kind of weird and off to me. But loads of folks can use it and they don't have the same issue at all, go figure.

Hi, Mr.Mike. Our taste buds are funny. I like clean-tasting nicotine and since I often vape unflavored (or vary lightly flavored) eliquids, I'm very sensitive to any changes in flavor. I've only been able to taste peppery flavor in slightly oxidized nicotine base. It's not bad, just means that the eliquid was exposed to light-oxygen-heat for a prolonged time.

at the moment Im using a Vandy Vape pulse 24mm, dual coil build. I´ve tried both kanthal ans SS wire. Have also been very careful to not overheat the SS. I make my coils spaced so i dont have to do strumming or using ceramic tweesers and so on. No hotspots, no burning cotton. I appreciate your line of thoughts and I understand how some tastes may come from the metal. If you´ve overheated SS so it starts to oxidice it tastes very bad for example.

I bought 4 different types of juices. All of them are shortfills;

"Bazooka thunder- sour straws mango tango" 100ml filled with 2 x Nic-base shots 10ml (18mg/ml) so that end up at 120ml total and 3mg/ml Nic
"Fizzy Kola" Exact same nic shots and quantity of juice
"Killer Kustard" by vapetasia 50ml filled with a Nic SALT shot thats 20mg so that juice ends up at 60ml total with a 3.3mg salt nic/ml
"Doozy sweet treat bubbly" exact same as the one above.

As you can see, its fruit, custard, candy, sour/fizzy ... they are all the same. It has to be that my tastebuds has been destroyed by smoking all these years. Thanks for your reply! :)

Thanks! I´ve had the flu and cold just recently, and quit smoking. Sorry to hear that you went back to cigarettas. But as long as you keep trying i guess its better than not giving a F ;)

Its not % its mg/ml for sure :)

Understand, but DIY isn't for everyone. In fact, the only reason I got into it was because i live in a country controlled by tyrants. Otherwise I'd just keep buying cheap juice from Heartland vapes as I have been for several years.

It's like rolling cigarettes, most smokers just aren't interested. I did for many years, though lol

I cant belive the idiotic rules and regulations you vapers in the US have to put up with. Hope they will get their facts straight and listen to you guys. You´re right, I dont have the time or interest to DIY yet. Maybe I´ll start trying in the future, but not right now. I´m one of those guys that by a pack of smokes instead of rolling my own, even tho I know I would save money. used to do it but Time is precious ;)

I disagree. DIY is pretty simple. Knowing the nicotine, pg, vg and flavoring is a benefit. Hate to see the op starting rolling themselves. So if the op wants to DIY that is his or her’s choice. Hate to see going back to smoking over a simple fix. We can help.[/QUOTE]

I will definately give DIY a go, just not right now. I`ve looked into it and i know the basics. Its not rocket sciense so i get your point. I will try my best to not start smoking again. As of right now, I havent even felt the urge to have one and I´ve felt like this for several days now. Tobacco feels far away in my mind if you understand how i mean?

Sorry for all the posts and replies :p i have to learn how to quote everyone in the same post, not separately. I´ll learn! Promise!

And since I´m from Sweden, there will be type-o´s and missunderstandings back and forth. Just keep that in mind... English in not my native language.

Is this the first time you have been completely off combustible tobacco and only getting nicotine from your vape? Decades ago, I tried to quit smoking (before vapes existed) and went through a period where EVERYTHING I ate or drank tasted burnt or like ashtray. At the time I assumed it was either from my lungs clearing themselves of the smoking debris or my brain playing tricks on me so that I would give it the cigarettes it was craving. If/when I broke down and had a smoke, the bad flavors went away for a while until the brain weasels started acting up again.

When I finally quit smoking with vapes, I was using a higher nic level, fruity flavors and dual using. I accidentally quit smoking when I realized I preferred the flavor of my vape over the cigarettes and was vaping more than smoking.

What flavors of juice are you using, and do you have an option to go with a higher nic level in them? I was using 18mg at the time, but I don't know if that is still available to you where you live now. If you are using short-fills, are you sure you are getting everything mixed together well? Have you tried vaping the 0mg juice to see if it has the same flavor issues that you are noticing after you mixed the nic shots into the flavor? I have tried a couple of tobacco flavored juices that did have a hint of cigarette/nicotine to them, and didn't like them much. For me, the fruits were the secret to my success.

Thank you my friend! :)
this is what i´ve been hoping to hear from someone that quit smoking themselves and has experienced changes in taste! I´m not alone! Different foods tastes strange to me as well. I´ve lost a bit of appetite since quit smoking due to the fact that i dont like the taste of it as much as i did before.

I mix, shake, steep and keep shaking my bottles every day. I bet some of you could vape my juices and wonder why I´m whining about them. Since they´re just fine. The more i think, read and discuss this matter, the more confident i get that it has to do with me quit smoking. Tastebuds and smell has to be restored and reset in some way after all those years of tar and carcerogens abusing them. I truly think this is temporary and will correct itself. I´ll try to vape some nicotine free juice to see if its the same. unfortunately, I have non at the moment.thanks for your relply!

Good luck with your journey. I saw your list of flavors, and agree that you should not be tasting smoking flavor with them. If you are dealing with brain weasels, remember that the tobacco folks designed the cigarettes to keep us using them, and your body may be wanting to get those other things in the smoke besides the nicotine. Those weasels can be pretty powerful critters, but if you know to watch out for them, you can handle them over time.

3mg seems pretty low--I'm still using 6mg after all these years. You might need to try going a little higher if you aren't getting any extra nic from a smoke. If you do start mixing higher, you can always cut the juice down by mixing in some VG or PG unflavored. I've still got some old 18 mg store juice around, and diluting it really doesn't hurt the flavor now that my taste buds are back.

There are also WTA (Whole Tobacco Alkaloid) juices out there that have some of the other chemicals in them that a real tobacco leaf would have. I haven't tried them, but some folks in here have had better success when they used WTA instead of the regular nic bases.

He brings me Snus when he visits. I’ve been snusing for years with no problems. I snus when I’m out where I can’t vape. Being in Europe you can probably order Inawera diy supplies which is very easy and so tasty. Keep us posted if you need help mixing. Good luck to you.

Aha okey!? Does he like it here?

Never heard of any american using snus, but it was fun to hear :)

Someone recommended me to up the nicotine if it wasn´t enough, but the thing is I use snus as well. Not that much but its enough. To explain the concept of snus is somewhat tricky to people from other countries :)
Snus is definately better for your health even though its no health-product.

I will ask if i need any help. Thank you!

I mentioned bumping up the nic, but if you are snusing, I think you can stay with the 3mg. I'm leaning more towards the brain weasels being your problem, and just needing some time to conquer the wee beasties.

I actually started snusing before he moved there. I had to quit smoking because I had chronic coughing and breathing problems. Camel snus had me quit smoking. Then it was discontinued, and I researched snus. I found a company here in the states. I ordered plenty for a couple of years. The the PACT Act hit. It killed the snus industry here. Then I switched to vaping. I then found General Snus selling here in convenience stores. So, I vape and snus. My favorite snus is Siberia white dry. I love that 43mg Lol. Its feels like smoking a cigar and I could keep that pouch in for three hours.
The FDA did post that snus is safer than smoking. But I haven’t seen any movement to open the industry back up. It’s such a shame, because I believe it’s extremely safe.

MrMike, your English is great, typo's (o's) are the norm for everyone. I had a lot of changes between the 3 week and 3 month range after I quit smoking. Be careful with the food tastes however. For me a point in time came where everything tasted good. 20 to 30 lbs. good !!!! Changes in tastes for e-liquid also changed. Now DIY is my way. Good Luck

Pg makes my mouth dry and I feel that peppery taste a lot....the first weeks of vaping it was MUCH worst but in my case still is a bit...so vape only 65vg or more..
I tried increase my pg many times cause of is better in my opinion cause I don't care for clouds but can't ...
Also I still get wierd peppery taste after eating something like a cake or chocolate and some foods also....but that was my case with cigarettes like I couldn't smoke after I had a milk or some types of cheese...
