It didn't take long for you to make me feel better.

What makes a person a veteran?

Awww... Anything to make you feel good, Br. You know that!

One has to be a member for one year and have at least 75 posts. Can't wait for your date! Remember to visit the Pre-Vet thread that Whiskey started in the General Discussion forum. We'll have a party and silly avatars in your honor. Better start planning now. What would you like? Airplanes? Crazy mods? Tumbleweed?

Thanks Katya
Yer on it.. I saved the link and printed the response. Keeping a file.

Is green a good color for you?

Files are good. Green is a good color--springtime, renewal. Thank you.

One baby step at a time. 8-o

One step at a time is all we can hope for. :)

OK, back on topic!

Aren't those just giant Kangers? You mean you're soaking the center air tube with juice? That will usually gunk up a carto faster than anything. More info please.

Those are, I suspect, giant Boge kr808s. Here's Switched's review of IKV cartomizers; I find his review of the giant kr8 spot on. I tested them some time ago and reached the same conclusions. However, Isaac constantly tweaks and improves his cartomizers so they are always worth trying. The nice thing is, you can order just one or two of them, so it's not a big commitment.

My biggest problem with all those XL, giant, jumbo cartos is that when they fail, especially when freshly refilled, you lose a lot of good juice. And they do fail. OK, call me a cheapskate.

And ya, I drop some down the center hole these days, per some people's advice - nothing's gunking up so far and it actually is helping the scorch. I know it's controversial, but whatever works. I've experimented with a zillion carto fill methods in the past year and am always experimenting still, it's an evolving art-form, ya?

Aubergine, dripping into the center hole is recommended for the cartomizers with a horizontal coil only, like the SLB, 4081, the Bloog and Nhaler's jumbo kr8. Dripping into the center hole of a traditional, vertical-coil cartos is, on paper, at least, counterproductive, as it doesn't really prime the coil but it restricts the airflow through the carto.

I found that filling with a syringe for the first time, at least, gives best results. Br and Salt recommended it here in this thread some time ago and they were right. Makes a big difference. After the initial fill, it's OK to top off from the bottle, because the filler is already properly saturated.

If you look carefully at the anatomy of a traditional kr8 cartomizer, you'll see that dripping into that hole cannot possibly do you any good. And overfilled carto is just as bad as an underfilled one. The proper airflow in necessary to provide oxygen to the coil and then to cool the coil and keep it from overheating. You don't want to drown the heating element anymore than you want to starve it.

But then again, this is theory. If it works for you, just keep on doing it. One can't argue with success.

I have ordered some jumbos from Ikenvape, and a pack of clearomizers, but I don't have them yet.

So really what are my best options? The Vapors Etc 3.3 mentioned above in Neo's post? Or is time to branch out & try 510 cartos with an adapter?

Well, read the review of the IKV kr8 cartos linked above and give it a try. You can't go wrong with HR Boge kr808 cartos from Vapors Etc and the standard Boge kr8 from LiteCig and Liberty Flights. Neo knows her kr8s and I would follow her recommendations blindly.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks Katya!!! I will follow Neo's advice with Boge kr808's & I'm looking forward to trying my IKV's.

Here's a picture of Switched's autopsy of the IKV Mega carto; he was one of the beta testers.

Try all the kr8 cartos that Neo recommended and if you don't like any of them, come back and we'll talk about other options. If you like the ciglike feeling of the small batteries and that satisfies your urge for the real thing, stay with them. Whatever works.

And if you really want to try a 510 carto or tankomizer, just get an adapter and play with it. No need to invest in a whole new setup if you're satisfied with your present one.

Happy vaping!

Yeah.
It's not that i can't invest heavier into this venture, I just don't want to. I hear of the CE2's and of links to $10.oo each for a carto, and I cringe.
I'm spoiled, and obtained most of my supplies for very cheap or even free, working a few hours over the holidays at a mall kiosk selling KR808D-1's for a company called 21centurysmoking.com . I still even get free carto's, and returned batteries (which really, generally are fine).

Katya, I do thank you for the links and advice. I've worked the industry but have been secluded into a specific product line, so these mods/adapters/etc are a little new, but heard of.

Great thread.

I am not sure where you found $10 for one E2 cartomizer. All the vendors like Liberty Flights (20% off), Gotvapes.com etc. sell them for $8 to $12 for a FIVE pack. Plus shipping in most cases.

I have been using npro 2N1 cartomizers and the only incedent I have had of burning carto material is one of the 2 cartos I blew out using my new 7.2v mod. now granted I keep mine wet (to the point I have carefully broken the carto mouthpiece cap so I can easily drip into them.I use the carto condoms to cover the open hole.)I cannot stand the burning fluid taste. however the cartos I have accidentally broken in the process of taking the cap off I dissected to get an idea of how they work ,how long they last, and the optimum filling method. and my conclusion is these devices are meant to break down however the wear and tear can be reduced to a minimum with proper care of the cartos. I have decided after seeing this thread that some of these may not be constructed w as good of materials as others therefor they may break down much quicker. I have however also come to the opinion and am fond of saying most will not go to the extremes I will to keep my equipment in functional condition. I cannot currently go out and buy replacements If they burn / break and I cannot stand the burning material taste...(Damn how did I start smoking in the first place rofl)these are the dissected carts I just blew out on 7.2 one is obviously burnt badly the other only has a tiny spot where the coil was.I am using a Dark fluid Butter rum very strong flavoring content.

Ok Katya.
Now your scaring me going all multiple personality on me.
Bird/M+M/Biker Boop. (Sybilesque?)

I contacted good prophets today and got a good e-mail response from "the Man", and he walked me through the connection needed. Very Helpful. He's out of stock for ~2 weeks but he's got my business when they come in for being prompt and helpful. Lots more I wanted to order up as well.
Thanks again.

I'm a pig/aardvark/earthpig ...ok, that's 3 a well.

Welcome, Madman! Thank for sharing your experience with us. However, your dissected carto looks almost pristine compared to what we've seen here in the past. Especially considering you had it on 7.2v....

Ok Katya.

Sorry, Piggy, it's all part of our pre-veteran follies. It will be over soon and Tweety will be back.

Rob is a good man.

thank you, tweety - and how did you narrow down the time?

i'm inclined to believe you since you are the one in charge of all the facts and data in this thread!!!!

we shall ask and tweety will answer!
thank you, katya!

Can't take credit for this one. CES figured it all out. She's mighty clever.

Now, Tib, take a nice, relaxing bath, pour yourself a glass of champagne and get ready to turn. I'll be watching with you. I've never seen it happen. Have you?

To Tib who will become a vet today and to Katya who will become one tomorrow, Fine job accomplished.:toast:

Thank you, Zelda.

We older women are a lot more fun than mere girls are BR.:p

What older women?
