The Russians are coming! I have no idea what you're talking about, but I'm all ears.

here's the russian, br! ;)

and here's the setup with vertical coil placed right over the air hole and packed with hemp :D

Probably the most efficient coil/wick in these is the vertical coil. 30 or 28g wrapped around a 1.5/2mm drill bit. The filler can be cotton or hemp, even silica. I am making extension posts for mine to raise one post and eliminate the long leg run, even though it is so wet it is not a problem.

it's working well but i have had no luck finding something to extend the negative post. atm making sure to place some hemp in that slot between post and coil to prevent a mishap ;)

Glad you're back to carto making BR. Tib's russian looks like it has almost as many bits as some of your cartos. Katya's boge carto is more my speed - though i'm liking the aspire too.

Right... :D

Beyond my pay grade.

I'm with you, CES. I like my Boges and my Aspire too. Which one did you get? I have the glass eGo-threaded one and I'm impressed, even though I don't much care for dual-coil atties. This one is really nice.

Hey, so 13 hours later, and I'm back.......

I'm using the ego threaded glass Aspire also, but am trying to decide which I like better now, the mini nova or the ETs.

I *think* I'm getting a bit more flavor out of the mini nova, but I've yet to make a final judgment.

I only got one (the glass eGo-threaded) version because I was sure I wouldn't like it--I never liked those dual coils. However, this one surprised me. It is not like those other DCCs with one coil on top, the other on the bottom. This is a new design, and if you look carefully, it really resembles a cartomizer inside--it has a layer of filler, which, I believe, is responsible for the improved wicking and overall performance. So it seems we have come a full circle and we're back where we started.

In the video below, Andrew takes apart that coil assembly (at 8 min or so) and shows clearly the "cartomizer" design.

Now if they could only make that dual bottom coil clearomizer with a single coil atty...

I have the DBC, ego-threaded glass aspire ETs Katya. No doubt the carto-like properties are why i like it . I usually am not found of bottom coils, but this one has enough warmth and works well on a stock ego battery :)

the ones i have look like this- but they take the same coil as the one shown at 8min in the video.

I agree. They vape more like a good carto tank than a clearomizer. I like how responsive they are--no need for those long slow drags--they are much more cig-alike in this respect. I'm finding that I can take shorter drags because of BDC's faster and more voluminous vapor production.

So far so good.

No wonder why Andrew thinks the Aspires produce a fantastic vapor and throat hit. The coils have a 1.5 ohm resistance and he is heating them with 4 volts. That's more than 10 watts! That could mean he may be consuming more nicotine than a real cigarette. I'm afraid that people who try to do the same thing will turn themselves into nicotine junkies. That's not my idea of a good cigarette substitute.

I experimented with a dual coil cartomizer back in the early days and found that it could easily do about the same thing. It was such a ridiculous amount that I only used it for test purposes. Mine was a top coil version, but that don't really make much difference as long as the coils stay wet.

Hi BR, don't forget that we're dealing with a 1.8 Ω dual coil design--two 3.6Ω coils here--configured in parallel, so his wattage is really 4.4 watts per coil. I vape mine on 3.8-4.4v and it's really nice, despite the low wattage. I think that the increased vapor production makes up for the low watts. :)

And I'm not a high wattage girl. I like 6 watts with single coils.

This one looks almost like some of the atomizer heads that I have seen. Is that what this is? If so, I don't see a real need for a hemp wick. But then, I don't really know what this thing is all about and may be missing out on a good thing. However, this type of construction always requires it to be a large device, which is too big for a little guy like me.

I didn't forget. You have it backwards, hon. Two 3.6Ω coils in parallel make a 1.8 Ω load. They would have to be connected in series to be half that. These things ain't magic. You can't get more vapor with less power. Also, I think that Andrew said in his video that they have a 1.8Ω resistance.

Me, I'm just a 3 or 3.5 watt guy, heheh.
