Burnt taste and hassle ruining my vaping experience.

If I've read one post on someone having issues with clearomizers, I've read 100+. I've used atomizers, cartomizers and clearomizers. Of the three, clearomizers are the worst and biggest hassle by far. Someone mentioned about burning a cartomizer, and I really don't understand that unless the user just doesn't know how to use them.

Atomizers definitely provide the best flavor and throat hit. But they require much more work, dripping or cleaning or rebuilding, depending on what type you are using. A tank cartomizer, properly preped before use, will last anywhere from 6 - 10 days with no issues and no maintenance and no leaking. And they don't have the "airy" draw or the maintenance demands of a clearo.

Liberty Flights has both Viva Nova and EVOD in stock, as well. I have been looking at both of these, as well as the CE4/CE5.

The CE4/5 offers higher ohm heads, which is a big deal to me (I hate LR!), but I haven't found metal tank options. (I almost exclusively vape Tasty Vapor's Kretek, and clove & cinnamon are strong in there. I don't want cracked tanks, and I will break glass likely within days. lol)

Viva Nova goes up to 2.4 ohms, and I see up to 2.2 for EVOD. I much prefer closer to 3.0 ohms, but then I would have to do the plastic/acrylic tank (CE5).

UGH, why do we have to sacrifice this for that?!

I am inclined to first try the Viva Nova for the metal tank option, and just slightly higher resistance than the EVOD.

Anyone who hates LR like I do and has tried these... would you recommend the 2.2 EVOD and/or the 2.4 Viva Nova? Or will they adversely affect flavor like LR "traditional" attys do?

I have experience with only one clearo to date. I don't remember the resistance now, and am not finding the model I got... I like it when the mouth piece doesn't spit liquid into my mouth; it doesn't seal well where seated. (Vision 510 Clearomizer 0.8 ml is all my receipt says. It was a cheapie, just to try out a basic clearo and get a feel for it.) It has not cracked on me, and I have had my Kretek liquid in there since April.

(I have been a dripper for 3 yrs., but my bridgeless attys at a SR are getting very hard to find. Hence my quest for a good clearo, preferably with replaceable heads for financial reasons; I found one disposable clearo posted in another thread for about $2.50 each, but I can only find it with LR! I use the Vision clearo intermittantly, but it has had the Kretek in there all this time, no damage yet.)

I don't care that one tank will hold more liquid than the other... what I care about is pure flavor, no burnt taste from LR (I currently have the "basic" 650 eGo batteries, and cannot afford to replace/upgrade ATM; will try variable when finances allow), heads that are not dificult to change with my arthritic hands, and as few leak issues as possible. I am disabled on a fixed SS income, so price is indeed a factor.

Any suggestions based on my needs would be greatly appreciated... I want to get off of tobacco 100% (still have a few cigs a day), but simply cannot if my vape isn't yummy AND reliable.

You can get 2.8 Ohm coil heads for Vivi Novas. Usually, they are packed with a 1.8, 2.4 and a 2.8 head in the box, but I've seen some that came with three 2.4s instead. 2.8s are definitely available as replacements.

I usually use 2.4 to 2.8 Ohms with 3.7 volts or 1.8 to 2.2 with 3.2 volts. Around 5 to 5.5 Watts.

I'm a fan of the metal tank Vivi Nova. I vape a lot of tank busters, like root beer, cola and citrus. I was able to get away with mild citrus in a polycarb tank, but root beer destroyed it overnight.

it's probably the easiest.

Frankly, I am having a love hate relationship with clearos.

I think the hate is winning out today for the burnt taste. sigh.

I went through this same thing with my first kit, it also came with T3's. People who know much more than me are giving you great advice, I just don't want you to give up! I switched to a Vivi Nova and love it. I also have clearomizers, which I find to be hassle free, but I get more vapor from the Nova for sure.

I burned an Extreme Vapors™ carto because I didn't prime it correctly. I will now go to extreme measures to make sure it is soaked before I apply power to it for the first time.

I like the Vision Vivi Nova. You can get an aluminum tank and you can buy the heads at their website in a 5 pk for around $8. They come in anywhere from 1.8 ohms to 4.0 ohms. Hold on and I'll post a link.

The fact is that you can have problems on every single device out there and for any number of reasons. Number one rule is backups, then backups of backups. The T3 is notorious for leaking issues. The T3s solved some of the problems. There are easier devices, but you can mess those up too. First, we don't want you to have to learn chemistry, physics and mathematics to get into vaping, off the analogs, or so frustrated that you give up. You do need some knowledge. Phil Busardo's excellent New Year's Day video for beginner's is a good primer:

It's all a process and a learning curve. I don't really notice problems with my gear, because I watched all the videos and learned all the fixes, and I can fix them without a lot of thought. Clearos are going to flood and gurgle from time to time depending on vape technique, juice, coil condition, etc. All have easy fixes. But when you're new, you don't know about them, so that's why the Vets recommend cartos, and other gear. But if you fire your battery on an empty carto, it's dead about two seconds later, as I learned by doing so, and never to be resurrected. What did I need? More information, knowledge and experience. I read a lot here, but got a lot from device specific videos, as well. Generally, I'll watch the videos before I buy anything, and most of them point out the weak points, and their potential reasons and fixes, so you know about it in advance. Forewarned and so forth.

A whole lot about vaping is subjective, and you just have to find out what works for you and what doesn't, what you prefer, or don't, by trying the gear out. And since we need backups, this is very natural. Don't get four of the same clearos. Ideally, get four different ones. Example, I liked the vivi nova until the protank came out. Turns out I prefer bottom coils. But that's subjective. Many others prefer top coils. Just subjective personal preference and no right or wrong. Ok, this is way too long...sorry.
