Cool beans!

Been vaping for 2 months now and been wanting a Mod
since 4 weeks ago...still out of stock!...grrrrr

But alas, they're coming in next week...whew! I can breath, I can breath!

Meanwhile I've been tempted to get one of several that I like so far...
GLV-2, Prodigy3, Precise, ScrewDriver MKII, Mako, and a few others.

I decided to get the Megalodon as my first Mod.

Also getting the Mako as a 2nd Mod because I can get a couple more Mods
out of it with the extra sleeves. Been talking to Tim at MojuRepublic to see
if I can get the Mako prototype sleeves which are a shiny polished aluminum
that look real nice topped with polished brass end-caps. Look much nicer
than the stock sleeves that are selling right now.

Ok you vets out there. Are these high quality buys that will last upteen years,
or am I kidding myself? I've looked and keep looking for more Mods and maybe
I've missed some I should consider. I do admit I've ruled out a few, but only
when it looked like a fire-hydrant, a vibrator, a sawed-off flashlight tube, a
nut & bolt set, an electric ...., or uncle Vinney's Plumbware. :D

And anyone know where I can get a Protoge 5v Passthrough?

I'm also dying to know what are the best Atties for 3.7v, 5.0v, and 6.0v.
Been looking at Boge LowRes Cartomizers, IkenVape HV Atties, and
looking for some really good Standard Atties and Low-res Atties to
use as well (so far, haven't like SmokTech LR Atties).

And I very much appreciate high-quality stuff. I'm a commercial
photographer and I use a Hasselblad: a rock solid studio camera
(IMAX format), all mechanical, best lens in the world (Carl Ziess).

I don't need the most expensive Mods...but durable, oh yeah.

I started with KR808D-1, still recommend them for friends wanting a cig form factor and the convenience of prefilled; some graduate to filling their own, others stay prefilled and are happy.

I used Riva 510 for a couple months, just due to the very low price point. With Boge 2 ohm cartos it got me to 808 warmth, decent run time. The dirty little secret of the 510s is that, at least for the half dozen batteries I used, having to pry the center post up was an expected aspect of them all; I used good cartos, but could count on them pushing the battery post down, need to pry them up for recharging (or when I switched cartos).

Switched to an Infinity mod in late February, life's been good since. I paid around $130, including 3 pairs of batteries and the charger. I had one RMA round early on, fixed fast. All 3 pairs of batteries are still giving me full-day use. Variable voltage, consistent, it's been dropped a bunch of times with no problem.

I do periodic checks on my vaping cost, excluding hobby stuff (active in PIF). Best I can tell the Infinity is actually the cheapest PV, over a five month span, since there have been zero HW replacement costs. With the 808s and Rivas I did have to periodically buy new batteries, that's all there was to it -- stuff would die periodically; the vendors I've dealt with were all super about honoring warranties, but I ended up needing more/new over time.

For someone absolutely new I still think the $40 - $50 zone riva or 808 is a great entry. On the other hand, after a handful of months, when you've started to realize the savings compared to smoking, a mod is super to try if you wonder what else is around.

Another possibility, at least to taste higher voltage vaping, is to try a straight pass through (one with no inline battery). A simple, unregulated, PT, plus 2A USB power supply or cig lighter adapter, runs $20 - $25. I had one of them from early on, in my car and at work, so knew there was something I would likely choose to go for over time.

You love a Hasselblad, you would love a REO. All mechanical, bullet proof, juice on board, no muss, no fuss, beautifully finished and perfectly designed. Don't have to drip or use a tank. The tube mods are more like view cameras...great pieces of work, larger format, but you have to deal with sheet film.

Sad to say , but a lot of us , have started , with the cheapo's . Only to regret not buying a mod , right away . None of us knew , until we had charged , one too many batteries , and been disappointed with vapor production , and throat hit . Again , cost was a big factor to me . Finally , I bit the bullet , and just went for it . Now I can't seem to stop . I buy every new mod , I run across . I like and use all of them , although ,I do have my favorites . What one person needs with more than a dozen mods , I don't know . I don't consider myself a collector , but I can't bear to part with , very many of them . I'm telling you now . It's a sickness .

Thanks mlinky! :2cool:

So ya know 'bout view cameras eh? Cool...that was a helpful comparison. Thanks!

Looked up the Reo and watched some reviews on it...nice! That ReoMini looks like a
charm too. Love the construction on the metal ReoGrand & ReoMini by ReosMods.com
...and those awesome color schemes.

I'm definitely adding the 3.7v ReoMini w/a LR Atty to my Gotta Have That Mod List,
...it's just too darn cute & compact to pass up. :thumb:

That's how I kinda felt recently. Not specifically about cigarettes -- I've been rid of those for months -- but about getting the most out of my vaping experience with regard to mods. I was going to get a NoEgo -- both of them -- but I kept thinking to myself, once day I'm still going to want to get a HV or VV mod, so I decided just to go right ahead and get a Provari. Still probably a couple of weeks until it gets here but it'll probably last be a good long time and satisfy my need for hardware. So I can concentrate on juice.

Lots and lots of juice.

Whatever works for you is the best option. I've only been vaping a couple of months but I can't see any reason for me to change from my 808 batteries. It's all trial and error, I now know manual batteries give a better th but burn my cartos up a lot quicker than auto batteries. I now know V2Cig cartos last longer, take more juice and don't burn up as quick as V4L cartos. Once you know what works for you, you're on your way. If what works for you is a $200 mod, then that's great value, if an 808 works for you, that's great value too.

No personal experience; it has good reviews. It is molded and uses proprietary atomizers. It is not a REO, but it is cheaper. A Canon compared to the Hasselblad.

I used to do quite a bit of film work. Love large format, too. I'm missing a Steve Sherman Steve Sherman - New England Large Format Photography Collective opening with the artist right now. :)

This industry seems to come out with new products faster than I can order them!

Buy the mod that fits what you think you want. Enjoy it.

Then shop some more and find out what else you want.

There is so much going on with feed systems -- top & bottom -- and VV and resisters and better batteries ---- and there is a new atty or carto now and again -- whatever you buy today will most likely work (not to say that repairs aren't ever needed), but it won't have as many bells and whistles as next years model. And those bells and whistles sure become appealing!

You will love the Provari, it is worth the wait and the cost. They are rock solid and give a consistent vape every single time to whatever you set them at. Too hot? Dial it down. Too cool? Dial it up. Lack of flavour? Dial around until you find the best flavour. I'm saving for my second one :thumb:

the cheaper ones are for newbies who want to try the vaping experience without having to spend a buttload....and from there on theres all different price levels to accomodate everybodys budget.
but I stick with the saying "buy the most expensive and well built product that your budget can afford".....that way you never regret not buying something that has more options and lasts longer right off the bat.

When I was using my KR808D-1, I was so happy it got me off the cigs. But the battery did not last all day. The cartomizers needed filling and were messy. It was just taking to much of my time. I started looking for different alternatives.

I wanted a PV that I could take to work and not worry about having enough cartomizers and juice to last me all day. I wanted to be able to be confident that my batteries would not run out several times a day.

I looked at the VV tube mods and saw that my juice problem would not be solved. Why would I want to have some huge battery and a cart to keep filling or be dripping on an atty? Sure they are really sharp, precision made and big, but unless they have a juice bottle hanging off the side, they would not work for me.

I saw different tank systems, but they seemed to have problems of their own. Whatever battery you used, it would not last. To use the same charger you were stuck with another purchase of the same battery.

The REO Grand or Mini seemed the perfect choice. I looked at the other box mods that are out there also. But I was sold on the Grands and Minis because they were mechanical, sturdy, and got good reviews all around. They also seemed to be well crafted with top of the line materials. The Grand and Mini are made of aircraft grade aluminum.

My vaping needs have been met, with simplicity and quality.
I bought my first a Grand in the classifieds.
Now 5 months later I have just purchased my 12th REO.

Yes, they are that good!!

If I stopped wasting money on juice I could buy a nice mod.

Man o Man that statement rings true with me, everytime I get saved up to get the mod I want a juice comes up thats been out of stock for awhile and there I go taken the money saved and spend on Juice, So back to saving again and again and again...... Maybe one day

So very strange that there is no love for the Nicostick around here. Seriously parts for building them are under 5 dollars and I have never had one die on me yet (Even though I built myself 3 spares). Build box, throw on some of those mega dual coil cartomizers and vape away. Batteries are available at dealextreme.com for dirt cheap, though take forever to ship.

Welcome to MadVapes LLC sells all the parts you need to build one.

Nothing quite as satisfying as vaping from a box you built yourself :D

That's exactly why I decided to go for it. I could have gotten the Darwin -- and I do really like some of its features -- but it looked a little weird to me, like vaping on an old school mini radio with antenna. :) Plus, I loved the Provari's one-battery solution. But I figured this would allow me to dial in the best experience I can possibly get out any juice and carto that I'm using, which is really what it's all about. No more eGo batteries that are only really best for the first dozen or two puffs before they begin fading. Just straight up good vapin' 'til the moment I need to change batteries. And since I ordered to AW batts with my Provari to go with the two flamejacket Trustfires I already have as backups, I'll have plenty of power to last.

Can't wait 'til it gets here; they're almost at my order number in shipping.
