Great info everyone!

So as a new vaper, what is your recommendation for me? I'd prefer to avoid a box vape, I just don't think it's my style. I like the circular feel. I do plan on using my Twist when going mobile... but at the same time if I get something that is a better vape, I might want to go mobile. I'm honestly just getting the lay of the land on everything and this is all coming down to my preference, I just don't know enough. To make things worse, good vape shops in my area are seemingly hard to come by. But I am willing to learn! Me and OperationMove are having a conversation right now about it, and he can help me piece things together, but I have to find what suits me and what I want first.

I like what we've come up with, but the Vamo seems to be the questionable piece. Whatever I get should be digital.

But also keep in mind, I'm not ready to dump 150-200 bucks into a mod. Does that mean there aren't mods I should consider? I sure hope not. There has to be down happy medium. Yeah, the mod I may pick up might not be perfect or a Provari, but I'm not expecting it to be.

Every person wanting to make the switch / get into ecigs I always suggest a SID . fairly cheap for a fully featured power modulated mod. and you can use the batteries on the majority of new devices you get later. (mostly im suggesting this to people that have an ego and haven't gone beyond that yet, this allows you to use all the ego specific atty's while allowing you to move up into 510 atty's)

I have both the itaste VV 3.0 and a Vamo v5 Stainless steel. I've been using the vamo exclusively and let my wife use the itaste vv. I actually like the vape of the vamo better as it seems to fire the coil up to temp quicker. I have been rebuilding protank coils and using them at 9-13w or so depending on the flavor. It also seems that the Vamo is significantly more powerful with stacked 18350's rather than a single 18650.

My plan is to get a kick and a nemesis clone to replace the vamo, It bugs me that as the voltage on a mod decreases the power output does as well, however dripping with a smoktech scar produces crazy amounts of vapor.

I can also tell the difference between my mvp2 and my sigelei zmax.seems like the taste of the vape is just that much more better on the mvp. Even using the same rda.

There is a difference. It's the electronics. The MVP uses PWD (pulse wave modulation) to keep the voltage steady and near accurate) much like the Provari. I do not think the Zmax does.

the zmax boards do PWM, just not as cleanly / smooth as the other devices. on the same line the DNA20 devices hit harder / smoother than any other PWM device i've tried.

Box vapes may be giving me the kind of performance I want, if I'm picking up what you guys are putting down, due to how it regulates the power. Am I correct? I could get a better vape out of a box vape rather than a Vamo?

No, it's nothing to do with the shape, it's related to the chip that regulates the power.

In my experience if you are coming from a twist it won't make any difference to you. Imagine you had never seen a car and only ever ridden a moped then getting a standard ford, you would be just as happy as if you got a BMW.

I have a top end regulated Semovar and a 33hz VTR box mod. The Semovar is slightly smoother than the VTR but the difference is not a massive thing, both clearly outperform a twist.

Hah! thanks!!

I bought an RSST and the mesh off of your first post, that's a great price.

Regarding the 33.3hz, yes you can slightly hear it but I prefer the vape from the vamo vs the itaste VV. Also, 11 watts max and 3a max output on the MVP might limit you with the RSST.

I would be wary of buying the chromed brass Vamo- fingerprint magnet, scratches very easily and finish can wear off. A friend bought the Chrome and babied it big time- within 2 weeks it looked horrible cuz of the scratches. SS all the way. Everything else looks good. My 10+ month old SS Vamo looks great.

I'll second this. Pony up the extra $4 and get it in stainless. I'm 2 months into my Vamo V.5 stainless and it's still perfect with exception to the small dent it had when I bought it.

I sent this in a PM but checked the rules and figured i'd post it here as well in case it helps others -

I bought the stainless steel because of the problems I read about other finishes. Another negative is with 510 connections like the protank 2 I've found devices aren't sitting fully flush. I did get a beauty ring that connects onto the ego threads and supports other 510 devices, but still a little stupid. The 510 threads are supposed to strip pretty easily so a lot of people have recommended an "airflow adjuster" to keep you from continually using the vamo's threads. I'm not sure if the flush sitting is just a problem with my specific vamo v5.

I did a ton of research for vamo vs svd vs zmax v5 vs others and the vamo was the cheapest with the most features(OLED, 5a max output, not single button adjustment). I was going to buy from fasttech but my last order which included a 2nd itaste VV is still stuck at hongkong post and I ordered on November 12th. The SS Vamo v5 was like $32 from FT. The cheapest i could find in the US was from varitube. I am not affiliated with them at all just thought I'd pass on the deal.

I may or may not have found a coupon...

I bought the i4 charger off Amazon.com for $17.10. It's pretty dang nice for the $.

I bought Panasonic NCR18650PF and (would also buy) AW 700mah 18350 flat topfrom rtdvapor.com - a lot of people recommend them as being the only place to buy batteries and be completely confident that they are genuine. The button tops I purchased don't fit very well and make the + button not depress very well. The panasonic PF was a mix of high output and a really good mah rating. For my new mod I just bought two of the AW 1600mah's for their 24amp output and reduced risk of blowing up :)

BoBloBlaw, I could agree with you more. Just bought the V5 VAMO from Varitube about 5 minutes ago from Varitube. I'm hoping they accept the 10% off coupon I found here on ECF, haven't heard back yet. If so, I'll get it for about $45, which is a darn good price.

I just love the VAMO, but am also interested in trying other apparatus. Would love to try a Provari and one or two others.

Yep. That rattlesnaking. That's what I don't like. I'm looking for a DNA 20 device

I would get a Sigelei 20W if you're only looking for a 20W device. Much less expensive than any DNA20 you might find (most of which will be used at this point), and just as good.

A Sigelei 20W has dc-dc power regulation. Smooth as silk.
