Hello all, I recently tried the 21st Century Smoke disposable from my local convenience store, and I enjoyed it. I've been planning on buying my first real rechargeable one pretty soon.

Currently I am divided between the Volcano from Volcanocigs, and the 510 that everyone here talks about. ( I found one at nhaler.com, but if anyone knows a better site, let me know) I have several questions. First off, which one would you recommend for your first? Second, would I just be better off buying the atty, the cartridges (or blanks and juice), battery and charger separately, or is there a real benefit to getting the starter kits? I did the math, and buying separately seems to be cheaper, but I wondered if there was any benefit.

Thanks!

First of all, it's going to probably be more economical buying the complete kit because you ARE going to want 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, a charger, and 5 carts... you can get that for $35 here:
Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye 510
Or here:
https://www.cignot.com/product_p/kit-510-nbx.htm

But if you smoke(d) more than 1/2 a pack a day, I recommend something with a bigger battery like this on for $40:
Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye eGo

The other really popular choice is this one, but I haven't tried it yet. It's great for people who want easy, no fuss, no muss. It's $65:
Vapor4Life- Electronic Cigarette: Vapor King Ultimate XL Starter Kit

Either way, you should start by watching these video's to help you decide what to get. It really depends on a lot of different factors; how much you smoke, how patient you are with learning technique, how easy do you want it to be, etc. etc. etc...

Would I really be better off with two batteries then? I am very casual when it comes to nicotine, as I would just have it for a few work sessions in which I needed to focus, or when I was relaxing with some buddies, it was never a regular part of my day. (in fact, I would vape on my disposable once every few days, trying to not make it a habit) And from my understanding, from what I read, it seems like the 510 gives off more vapor, and the manual are better for control over your session. Should I just forget about the Volcano Cig then?

I do love my ego, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. If you care about the way it looks- it doesn't remotely resemble a cigarette. You can't hold it like a cigarette. That matters to some people.

I'm glad I got mine, and couldn't be happier. But for some people it's a little off-putting.

The V4L or any kr808 I guess sort of resembles a cigarette.

If you are a casual smoker you don't need the eGo. Like I said, it really depends on how you are going to use it. The standard 510 battery will last 2-3 hours of use.

I'm a heavy smoker, so for me that's preposterous. But for you it would probably be just fine. It takes an hour or two (something like that) to recharge. For me, I'd be freaking out and pacing -- for you that might be o.k.

If you are just as happy with one battery a charger and some cartomizers (I recommend them in your case) then it might be cheaper to just piece that kit together. I wouldn't know because most of the people I talk to on the forum wouldn't make it on just one battery.

Let me look around for prices... back in a second....

So I looked around for a minute or two. The thing is, you can get one joye510 battery for about $12-$15 and a 510 charger for about $12-$15 plus 5 pre-filled cartomizers for $8 -- so if you piece it together yourself, the best price you'll get is about $30 (plus shipping).

For not much more, you can get two batteries (a spare is always a good idea) plus a charger, two atomizers and 5 carts.

Here's about how it's breaking down:

battery: $13
Charger: $12
Cartomizers $8

or instead of cartomizers you'd get with a kit:

atomizer $9
cartridges $3

I started vaping a little over a week ago. I went with the 510 which everyone seemed to be recommending. After the first 5 days I realized I needed something bigger and better. I also realized quickly that I didn't care what it looked like (I'd puff on a screw driver if it was better). Then I found the Ego-T (OVALE Industry Europe), I ordered it on Thursday, I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival.

Volcano's line are 510's (other than the mini-cig)...they are great products.

So, you are saying that with the exception of the mini-volcano, they are pretty much 510s? Including this one?
V-Kit Sampler
Are they manual 510s? From what I read, manuals seem to be better in terms of control and getting more vapor. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

I see. Well, looks like only the Magma is manual. Unfortunately, they don't have a USB charger in stock at the time of writing, just a passthrough one and a wall charger (which by the looks of it, might require the USB charger, correct me if I'm wrong.)

Right now I'm spilt between the Magma one and the Cignot one that Rosa showed me. Decisions decisions.

I just had a brainstorm:

I don't know if something like this would interest you:
Joye eGo Passthru

You plug it into your computer, it charges and you can use it at the same time and when you are ready to go you just unplug it and take it with you, all charged up. You could get this and some pre-filled cartomizers and be good to go for $30.

Not bad, thanks. Noob question, 1000 mAH, does that mean a stronger battery, charges faster? I don't know too much about how electrical stuff like that works.

mah work like this:

You can pretty much say that your battery will last one hour for every 100 mah before you need to recharge it:

so the standard 510: 180mah= nearly 2 hours
the standard eGo: 650 mah=6 1/2 hours
the eGo mega: 1000 mah= 10 hours

As for the flavor it produces, fully charged batts seem to provide the best flavor IMO(from my experience), so you can see that a larger mah battery would produce better flavor for a longer period of time. But mostly, it just has to do with how often you will have to be recharging the battery.
