My take on it is that vape gear is an investment. Should be looked at as a cost analysis of years and not a monthly cost. But first one must find their vape path, before investing to heavily.

Once I found the ecf, I had already gone from cig-a-likes, to ego style with a protank. Thought I had discovered something. But then had some issues with the pt, upon searching for solution, stumbled across the ecf.

Then I learned what was vape possible. Went regulated mod, then an rba, re-buildable atomizers, then DIY juice, and once my builds were good enough to vape at 15 watts, wanted more, so Mech world is where I went, then the dna30 was released, got the futura30, so now have a collection of many mods, regulated and mechanical, a bunch of tank system rba's and a couple drippers too. Have been a vaper now for 1 year.

I've been known to spend 2 bills on just a tank system, and more than once. Will consider spending up to 3 bills on a mod, if it will enhance my collection, is quality and will provide years of vape service.

What I haven't done is spend $3500 on smokes this last year, nor quite that much on gear, yet. But by time I do, will still be in the black, because what I haven't spent on smokes continues to increase. Everything I own expect it will last me the rest of my life, plus adding years to my life.

Way I look at it, am no longer dying as fast as I once was, so have more time to enjoy my vape, might as well enjoy Great Vape!!

TGIF

Vape long and Prosper!!

This thread is a good read, seems the vapors experience is on par with what Einstein said about history "History doesn't repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme".

I started out at one of my local B&M vape shops, got their best starter kit (vision spinner 1300mah, kangertech PT2, and 2 10ml bottles of terrible juice) for 90 dollars, at the time I thought to myself, ok, I have the best set up out there, hope this works... I laugh at myself everytime I visit that memory, and I've yet to go back to that shop since I discovered everything I got there could have been had for about 40 dollars. That worked for about all of 2-3 days.

For whatever reason about a month ago I picked my set-up back up for another go. As it goes with a new car, you start to pay attention and observe others around you doing the same (driving the same car to finish that metaphor off). I saw someone with this crazy contraption blow out something I thought I'd need an umbrella for. I went up to him and started to ask questions, my mind was blown, and a new hobby was born.

I've since started a little collection of gear, based mostly off research, and some trial and error. I upgraded the vision spinner to a vaporshark dna 30 (best buy yet, LOVE this mod). Thought I was upgrading the Protank 2 by getting an aerotank mega, found it was more or less the same thing, but not really a loss as I can fill it and pocket it without worrying about leaks and have a different flavor to switch to. Then I truly upgraded my juice delivery by getting a kayfun and starting in on rebuildables. I love it. Have a Tugboat RDA on the way to try dripping, and likely going to get a kraken as I hear they are similar to a kayfun but can produce more vapor. Have an accumulation of juices steeping and waiting to go.

I reckon what I'm trying to say is, certainly for me, and seemingly for others, this becomes so much more than a method of quitting smoking. This is a new hobby for me, its like grown-up lego's. The combinations of mods, atomizers, juices, power, coils, etc are endless. If I can benefit in health, as well as have fun, its like killing two birds with one stone, a win win, and as was said earlier the money saved from not buying a pack or more a day is always compiling, even if I go over my old smoking budget I don't get guilty, I know it'll catch up, and my health and happiness are worth more than money.

I tend to spend far less vaping than I did smoking, and that's buying enough stuff to make it fun. I'm glad I found fairly inexpensive batteries and tanks that work well enough to keep me in the game, and also that I am doing pretty well with the DIY. Gosh, that alone saves me SO much money, even buying like a looney! The money I save making my own juice will support my future ventures into cooler gear!

It's not helping my budget at all that you people are forever gushing about the new shiny thing in your life! Bad influences, the lot of you!:mail:

I started out on an ego. Now two months later... I have 5 mech mods, 2 VW mods, 5 rda's, 1 rta, 5 18650 batteries, 4 18350 batteries, all the coil and wicking material i'll ever need, and JUST put in a 180 order for all my diy supplies.

yeah... it builds up fast :D I justify it by convincing myself that once i'm well set up my monthly costs will be tiny. Don't be too hard on yourself. You will slow down after a while. You will always have to put down a good bit of money to get started, but you save money because once you buy all the equipment all you need to worry about is wick, coil, (and pg, nic, vg if you diy)

I started down the same path in January ... searching & throwing $$ around, it was easy to justify given the monthly cost of cigarettes.
Then I bought a Russian 91% & a regulated DNA device. That was what I had been looking for to satisfactorily replace the cigs.
Most will end up with more of an advanced set up eventually.
All thats needed once you have the device, wire & cotton is replacement juices.
There's lots of savings to be had by skipping the intermediate level(s) & just cut to the chase.
... maybe not as much fun though.

So...I have three weeks in now of no smoking and been vaping on my halo triton. I first got the starter kit with Malibu and Tribecca at 12ml. Loved them, and not smoking, so I ordered a VV from halo, a new tank, backup coils, and a variety sampler the next week. Then the next week I ordered the gourmet sampler pack a 30ml of tribecca and midnight apple, two new tanks, and voodoo 7ml. So Ive spent about $240 roughly. I seem to always spend about 80 bucks to get the free shipping, and I love using the 10% off code.

I smoked about 5 packs/week X $6/pack = $30/week = $120/month

So Im guessing these three purchases should last longer than two months, but Im afraid Im gonna wanna buy more goodies...I just would like some advice from people who think if I should slow down from their experience or just go with the flow and try some new products when Ive done research and have waited at least another week or two.

I dont really mind spending about the same amount I used to (analytically) and in a super healthier way, but I don't want to get so much I start wasting money when I should be enjoying what I already have. Thoughts?

Is NicoTicket any good in the triton tanks? Or other juice for that matter? I want a vanilla juice really bad (probably my favorite desert flavor) , and I saw Custards last stand, which seems like a good one to try. I love the halo juice, but I am considering other gourmet flavors halo doesnt offer..

(didnt feel like starting a new thread)
You'll really only know if you try Nicoticket and/or other e-liquids. Branch out and find your favorite! :)

I think you're absolutely right - places like this make one want to spend more!! On the other hand, though, had I not found ECF, I'd probably still be smoking and coughing and gasping for breath....

I started keeping a spreadsheet of all of my vape purchases, and yeah I've bought too much. In a month and a half I've spent about 4x more than I saved not buying cigarettes, so my breaking even point is nearing the end of the year if I don't spend another dime on vaping. This has just JUST been able to keep me from making my next purchase, its a shame I didn't smoke more cigarettes, I could justify my spending better

I've found myself in a similar situation. I LOVE custard and creams and (although some people dislike the company and their prices) I love five pawns as well as suicide bunny and am struggling to find the favors/companies people swear are identical in flavor.

Either way, I think they make great/delicious product and I dont mind paying the price(for now). I also these are not ADVs for me so they last me quite a while.

I Was Doing The EXACT same thing. Then I decided to start making my own Ejuice and I'm so glad I made that decision. It's so much easier to make than you think and you will save so much money. My husband and I figured it out and it costs something like 40.cents a bottle to make as opposed to 7 to 12 dollars to buy. It's been working out fabulous. The best part is if you get a craving you can just mix up whatever your craving and no waiting. Complex mixes take practice but it's really fun. Best part is start up cost is under 100. Dollars for your pg, vg, nicotine, flavorings, empty bottles, measuring syringes, and droppers. I think mine ran about 85 for everything. And it's good! What was most Suprising to me was how good it wad! I can make it exactly the way I like it.and you can too. It might be something you want to consider.it will save you so much money. They have small sample flavors for about a dollar and larger ones for around three. I start with the small bottles to see if I like the flavor and if I do I order the larger bottles. They have hundreds and hundreds of flavors to choose from! You would not regret making your own. In fact I don't miss the store bought juices for a minute! If your interested you should take a look at the do it yourself (DIY) forum. They have great information on it there! Hope this helps . It might be something to consider. Best wishes

Worth emphasizing; if you want to buy more hardware, it helps to slash your eliquid budget by doing some DIY.
Even if all you do is buy higher strength PG-only liquid and add your own VG, you basically slash the eliquid budget in half.

Over the next few years as the cigarette industry declines and the vape industry picks, up, prices are going to drop I expect, and those silly 10ml bottles will get replaced by 100ml bottles.
