So I've had my buzz for almost a year now. Both sets of batteries (all 4 of them) are showing concave ends and some deeper pits where the spring from the buzz rides against them when it's screwed in.

Is this something to worry about? It's started getting worse over the past month or two. Battery performance hasn't been effected - they all come off the charger at almost exactly the same voltage and discharge evenly still. Should I be thinking about replacing them soon?

On a similar note, I REALLY --REALLY-- wish the bottom cap on the buzz was better.

I love my buzz to death, but the bottom cap feels and looks absolutely awful. I'm a little aggravated that the spring is sharp enough to actually put divots in the battery after extended use. The threaded delrin insert drives me NUTS sometimes as it's always been a little off center. The threads always feel completely unsure of themselves and I'm pretty sure they're gunna strip out sometime in the near future. The roll pin and nut/bolt isn't sufficient to hold the delrin flat against the endcap either and it ends up mushrooming out as it threads in so it ends up all lopsided and wonky.

Now, I do understand completely the added safety bonus of having it setup like that. They can separate in the case of a battery failure, the softer delrin is less likely to chew out the aluminum threads in the body too. I'd gladly trade some all metal threads and a solid endcap for slightly larger vents or something similar though. When I saw the new bottom caps get released I thought it was a brilliant interim design.. but I think it's about time to go back to the drawing board.

Anywho! /rantoff. I'm not trying to trash notcigs products at all, but as a very mechanically inclined person having to deal with this daily I just felt the need to throw that out there. I'm still not going to stop using my buzz, but I also wouldn't be upset with a better endcap design either :)

well written post, I noticed some slight deformation to the bottom of my batteries also, I never let it bother me, and assume that alot of it is actually from my charger which has ALOT more tension on my batteries than the BP does.

As far as the bottom cap, mine fits right on center, and I like that it also acts as an on/off switch.

If your spring is acrualy scratching grooves into the battery, take a tiny pair of needle nose pliars, and bend the very tip (the only part that should be doing any scratching) and bend it inwords so it does not contact the battery.

Exodus, thank you for your honesty! I personally hate the delrin end caps, and use the all brass ones on my BPs. The delrin was not added for a safety feature, it was added because some people were having problems with the all metal end caps not functioning properly as the on/off switch. Mine work fine for the on/off function. You can still order the all metal caps from the website.

The vent holes in the bottom of the tube area are quite sufficient to expel gas in the event of a thermal batt problem. Ark has a great suggestion about taking a needle nose and bending the spring.

Batteries aren't all that expensive and since they've lasted almost a year I would say that they're at the end of a lifespan anyway. (They say what - like 200 charge cycles or so). Time for some fresh 'uns.

Changed my bottom cap to an all metal one also. I just didn't care for the delrin one and have never used it as an on/off switch.
