So,
I couldn't seem to find any local VG at a drugstore/pharmacy, or wasn't looking hard enough, yaada yaada yaada; But..

When I try to input a formula with a greater than 38% PG I get a popup stating I need more VG. (Already have VG as the carrier base)

What am I doing wrong, this makes no sense. What if you want all PG, or more than 38% PG?

Which calculator? I use eJuiceMeUp and usually make a 70 PG/30 VG blend. I use an all PG base for my nicotine. If I get an error, it's because I screwed something up. In it you need to specify PG/VG ratios in both the nic base and the final blend fields. Sounds to me that your target nic concentration can't be diluted enough with PG if you have too high a VG in the nic base to start with.

It would help if you could grab a screen capture and post it so we could see your input data.

36mg/ml 100% VG...yep, you're capped at 38/62 PG/VG if you want to make 22mg/ml.

Not much you can do other than what purelyscientific has said...

Tough luck, you can't have it. Unless you lower your nic or increase your flavoring %.

In order to get rid of the error you have to lower your nic or increase your flavoring %.

The calculator refuses to accept a 70/30 mix at any flavor percentage if the target nicotine is over 10mg.

Something's definitely wrong here. It is not impossible or uncommon to create what I am trying to create. How do you guys get around this? Is there another calculator that reflects reality, perhaps?

Yea...your 100% VG nic base is going to limit you in making mixes with a significant PG component, as has already been said. If your typical blends are usually 70 PG/30 VG and you want to avoid tossing what you already have, I'd suggest buying some more nic @ 36 mg/ml in a 100% PG base. Then mix equal amounts of the two nic bases (1 part @ 36 mg/ml in VG and 1 part @ 36 mg/ml PG) and create a 36 mg/ml nic in a 50 PG/50 VG base. If need be, you could also increase the ratio to see what works best for you.

It is not a problem with the calculator. The problem is that your nicotine base is 100% VG. You need to dilute your 36 mg/ml nic down to 22 mg/ml and you are running out of room.

Just for fun, change your top line in the input for 'Nicotine Strength e-Juice' to 50% PG and 50% VG and see if it still gives you an error message.

You should have bought 100% PG nicotine.

Awww Feces!!...

I really belabored over that choice, too. In my noob state I figured that this base would simplify things re: giving me the versatility of making a formula with less of a need for VG; thinking that that would simplify matters. It seems that it has done exactly the opposite.

I suppose I can whip some up at a 38/62..arrgh. Guess that gives me an excuse to buy more stuff LOL

BTW, Purely Scientific, I laughed so hard a couple of days ago re: your "virginal Thigh Sweat" I just couldn't not borrow it for a hypothetical juice example. Gawd, it still makes me laugh!!!! Classic!!!!!!!!!

Hahah That's my woman for you! (laugh)

The ratio/nic base isn't a big deal. Just change your ratio to higher Vg and add more flavor to compensate.(Higher VG% dulls flavor)

Thank you man! :)

See, this is why the forum is so awesome, I wouldn't have known about the flavor dulling factor.

What would be a recommended % of Maraschino Cherry?

Anybody?

My recipe is 60/40 PG/VG 21mg with 4% marachino cherry and 4% ethyl maltol...
But...I recommend you start off with 2%. I found anything over 4% with this flavor makes my tongue tingle.

I also have a variant of that recipe with honey, blackberry, cherry blossom, and lemon flavor. It's still a work in progress.

And another variant with 9% Lemon, 4% cherry, 2% sour, and 4% TFA/WL sweetener.

All my recipes are for 20-24mg 60/40
