I think it's up to us individuals to voluntarily cough it up on our taxes.

That is not like California to give up a dime. Years ago I bought my cigarettes on line and shipped to CA. The supplier got busted and had to give up all their sales records. CA hit me up for the taxes on each and every carton I bought for two years- it was a chunk of cash.
Voluntarily may be the wrong word. You're required to pay the tax, but it is not automatically collected. There are penalties if you do not pay the tax. I have no clue how they plan to enforce this.

And so it Begins...

"So what does this mean to you as a California resident?

As of April 1st 2017 all vapor related businesses, including Tasty Vapor, will be required to assess a 27.3% excise tax on all liquids containing nicotine for all California residents purchasing within California. 0 mg liquids, equipment and accessories are exempt. This tax will not affect customers outside of California. As a result of this new law, Tasty Vapor will have to increase prices by 27.3% on nicotine liquids to reflect this excise tax.

As of July 1st 2017 the excise tax on tobacco products, including liquids containing nicotine, will increase even more. At this time the final percentage has not been determined. "

Funny. I thought this Tax was supposed to be on the Wholesale Price? And not on the Full Retail Price.

So did I. :nah:

0 mg liquids, equipment and accessories are exempt.

However, this is good news--if their interpretation of the law is correct. That means that we can buy 0 mg ejoose and just add our own nic! WOOT!

Yeah... I just think of all of those who are Smoking Cigarettes right now and how they Won't have the Opportunities that we had.

It's Kinda Sad. But I expected No Less for California. Sorry to say.

Yes. No change. Just regular price + shipping.

That's Interesting. Because it seems like there would be No Way that Nicotine Base wouldn't be Taxed.

A Retailer could Eat the Tax on their end to maintain a Competitive Price in a market. But I'm not sure How Many would want to do this?

For those of us that have stocked up on nic, sounds like it doesn't mean that much. I know that doesn't help those not involved with ecf, and aren't aware on what has been going on tho.

I was almost there with the nic! I still need 1-2 liters more and live in CA. But I'd think even non-ecf members at the very least, know about the tax increase. Although, I doubt they know about the need to stock up

Exactly right. If you have your nic, you're golden. Even if you haven't, you can still stock up. I have 1L of 100 mg/mg packed for long storage in my freezer (some argon purged, some regular Armor, all in small amber glass bottles), plus some more nic that I'm using currently. If my math is correct, that is enough to make 10L of 10 mg/ml eliquid--should last a long time. :) I may, depending on what happens with taxes on nic base, get some more before July 1. With or without any extra taxes, it's still a bargain.

Everything else remains unchanged for the time being--unless our government decides to do something stupid again.

That's all?
should last a long time.
A liter of base will last me 3 years, maybe a bit more. You should figure out how long it will last you.

Compared to smoking, DIY base would still be a bargain even with much higher taxes than anyone has proposed anywhere. But for me, it's very satisfying to know that I'll never have to pay a penny in such taxes, because I've got enough in the freezer to last the rest of my life, and I finished buying before last October 1, when PA's tax went into effect.

Does this sound about right ?
If the seller is in California and the buyer is not, then the tax is on the seller.
If both are in California the tax is on the seller.
If the seller is not in California and the buyer is in California then the tax is on the buyer.

No tax on the first one. The transaction takes place where the purchaser is located.
