[h=5]URGENT! We just received word that the city of Vero Beach, Florida will be introducing an ordinance to BAN the sale of flavored tobacco products (including e-cigarettes and smokeless tobacco) within the city.

Please e-mail comments in opposition as soon as possible to cityclrk@covb.org. Address your comments to the Vero Beach City Council and let them know that you're an adult and flavors have helped you stay smoke-free!

Ordinance -- Vero Beach FL Ordinance to Ban Flavored E-Cigarettes

There is a meeting tomorrow morning (August 20) at 9:30 A.M. I manged to reach out to at least one e-cigarette user who should be in attendance. I also spoke to two members of the City Council and left messages for two others alerting them that the ordinances would ban flavored e-cigarettes.

The ordinance may come up for a vote at their September 3rd meeting.

Great news -- the Vero Beach, FL ordinance banning sales of flavored tobacco products was tabled at today's meeting!

Special thanks to CASAA member and vaper Jeffrey Eaton, who showed up and spoke in opposition to the e-cigarette flavor ban. From the looks of it, the Council has abandoned its idea of banning the sale of any flavored tobacco product.

CASAA will continue to monitor the situation on the ground. Thanks to all those who sent in testimony!

Wow, I missed the whole thing.

Every day I start in Legislation News...
Then I move on to Media and General News...
Then I move on to the General E-Smoking Discussion...
And then if I have time left I check out the New Members Forum...

I rarely make it to the New Members Forum though, which is okay since I'm a dripping dinosaur with little to add these days.

This one came and went before I even knew about.
Now that's how I like them.
:D

I was contacted yesterday by CASAA about a flavor ban in Vero Beach, FL. I had been asked as a member of CASAA to contribute my thoughts on the ban. Although this small speech was my first experience in front of the board, I did my best to relay an important message. I admit I was a bit nervous, but I simply hope my message was clear and helped the vaping community take a step forward.

Thank you

Jeffrey Eaton

just a suggestion...in the future, I suggest U post more than 1 day before a meeting , if U want letters and support from other people...anyways good to hear CASAA heard about it and was able to voice their opposition....
URGENT! We just received word...
I'm pretty sure that's what they usually do, under normal circumstances.

Jeffrey Eaton, you rock! Thank you for doing what you did!

Placebo Effect: Nice photo! The caption should be "One kewl dude, vaping"

I sent them an email at 12:15 this morning (Tuesday) which was about 10 minutes (the time it took me to compose the email) after I read the call to action. They probably hadn't seen it before the meeting, but I hope they will read it eventually. An exerpt:

...A common reaction to quitting smoking and starting to use e-cigarettes is that one tends to develop a hearty dislike of the taste of tobacco. The e-cigarettes I consume contain such non-tobacco flavors as watermelon and cola.

And please do not fall into the trap of believing that flavored tobacco encourages children to smoke. Or that electronic cigarettes may tempt children to start smoking tobacco. Both these theories are without merit and are not based on fact, though they are actively promoted by those whose livelihoods depend on anti-smoking funding. I hope you will research these issues objectively.

For those who watched the video, This just goes to show how STUMPED and UNEDUCATED people are that make laws in regard to our e-cigs. The education has to continue. Big kudos to Jeffery Eaton and the level headed person on that council who spoke against this nonsense. Taking the options away from adults. POLICE YOUR OWN CHILDREN!!!! This ANTZ guy I was actually yelling at through my computer screen. Another person who wants nicotine abstinence. I also guarantee the Flavored tobacco products turning up in schools are flavored cigars. This is discussed in another thread. They are being used for "other purposes". I really am starting to think they are bringing a lot of unjust flack to the e-cig industry.

Jeffery!! Great job, and thanks so much for speaking up. Your message came through just fine!

That guy right after Jeffery? Grrr. He's omitting one very very important fact. The kids who asked him about the eCigs, were probably asking about them for their parents or other other loved ones who they want to see smoke free. I, for one, can't even begin to count the kids that have renewed hope that maybe THIS will be the product that will FINALLY get their parents to quit smoking. They are all ears, full of questions, even asking for advice on how to convince them. That's the hardest part for them, is getting their parents to listen because their parents are tired of failing and have given up even Trying to quit. That THR guy needs to get his paycheck out of the equation and get a reality check.

I am 40 years old, and one of my greatest wishes has always been that my mom quit smoking. A little hypocritical on my part, being I started smoking at 14. So Finally, we did it together.

As for the kids asking questions about e-cigs, some of them may already be smoking regular cigs themselves, and may be looking for a safer alternative. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. As I said earlier, police your own kids and let parents make decisions as to whats right and wrong. Just a thought being I was smoking so young.

This guy in the video was suggesting these smoking alternatives be sold in adult only stores, while leaving the most deadly product on the shelves of convenience stores. Makes absolutely no sense. We have to attend EVERY ONE of these meetings to stave off these ANTZ. I guarantee if and when this silliness comes up in jersey, count me in!!!!!!!
