Wow. I just spent the better part of yesterday and today reading this complete subforum...
Do I get a prize?
Actually, I'm glad I finally got some time to check out this whole subforum.
Years ago I took up tobacco "chewing" when I was banned from smoking in my office/shop. Dipping Skoal was about the only alternative at the time.
Actually, at first, I had no problem with it. My manager was a Copenhagen user himself, and we were both discreet: no spitting in public, using pop-cans kept out of site, clean and neat as possible. And it did help me to cut down quite a bit on my cigarette consumption.
But after about a year and a half of of constant use I started to notice a noticeable "abscess" or pocket, forming in the back of my cheek where I put my dip. Very raw, very sore and very scary. Went to see a doctor, had one of the finest .... chewings I've ever received from anyone, let alone a doctor, dumped the Skoal, and went back to cigarettes.
About 2 months ago I latched on to E-cigs, but like Tropical Bob, and others here, I wasn't totally satisfied with them either. It just isn't the be-all, end-all for me that it is for many. So the quest for the Grail continued...
I'd actually heard of swedish snus before this, but immediately catagorized it as just another "brand" of smokeless dip tobacco. Wow, was I wrong. This is a different ball game altogether!
Checked out this thread, the swedish reports, etc, and by the time I had finished less than half this thread, had run down to the local store, grabbed a can of Camel Frost, came back - tried it, liked it, and put in an order to the Northerner for 10 different portion type brands!
To be truthful, I say I liked the Camel Frost, but it was more an "OK". I'm not a big fan of spearmint, which seems to be the main flavor. But it was more the way that the nicotine hit my system.
I swear I would have had to put 10 times that amount of Skoal (loose OR Bandits) in my lip to get that kind of contentment!
Not a "buzz" - just a quiet satisfaction.
I can hardly wait to try out the others. They'll arrive in 2 shipments. Some of the Generals are here in the states, the rest coming from Sweden. (I had them send it regular shipping because of the stories I've read of UPS wanting to play with import taxing game.)
Anyway, I've officially jumped on the band wagon! All Hail the Swedes!
But I refuse to eat lutefisk. (I'll stick to crappie, thank you...)
And
NO Abba either.
