A big thanks to TropicalBob for posting about snus. I like snus about as much as e-cigs, and switching off between them is working much better at keeping analogs away then e-cigs alone.

I second ninja's sentiment. I've only had one can of the Camel frost. Had it since last Thursday and still have a few pouches left. Had the same experience on my first pouch but since then not had the hiccups.
Been researching the swedish brands and will be placing an order soon. I still use the ecig more but that's only because i have more liquid than snus.

The combination of ecig and snus is a real winner in my book.

Someone asked (from Slovakia I believe?) earlier about how to get Camel Snus outside of the US. It wasn't possible. Now it is, from BuySnus:
But the description is even more interesting to me for what it says about the current domestic US product:
Camel snus has finally been released in Sweden! It is a real version of Swedish snus and not exactly the same as products that are for sale in US. The US Camel snus has got many reviews of being a very sweet “candy-like” snus with no tobacco flavor. Many users also say that the taste does not last very long and it is a bit synthetic. We hope that this new Swedish Camel snus will be a perfect solution for you who like the US Camel snus but want a real Swedish snus. The Swedish Camel snus comes in both original portion and white portion.

I got the same notice and intend to order both varieties -- for the tins, if nothing else. I've been saving tins and, lo and behold, I now have collectibles that have ceased production! Note that these tins are very different from the oblong ones sold in the U.S. I also have all the "test" versions of Camel and Marlboro tins.

Now the American versions of Camel Snus have appeared on Northerner's website available for shipment from their US warehouse. So, people in Europe who want to try the sweet tasting US product can get it from Northerner via their US warehouse.

Meantime, it turns out the new Camel branded Swedish Snus has nothing at all to do with RJ Reynolds American, the company making the US product. The Swedish made Camel brand is wholly owned by Japan Tobacco, of all things. RJ Reynolds, makers of American Camels, sold all its international operations and trademarks to the Japanese company.

So let's see now, you can get the Japanese company's Scandanavian snus named Camel from the online vendors in Sweden, or you can get the American snus named Camel shipped from the American warehouse of a Swedish vendor. Got that? I didn't think so.

Wow. I just spent the better part of yesterday and today reading this complete subforum...
Do I get a prize?

:)

Actually, I'm glad I finally got some time to check out this whole subforum.

Years ago I took up tobacco "chewing" when I was banned from smoking in my office/shop. Dipping Skoal was about the only alternative at the time.

Actually, at first, I had no problem with it. My manager was a Copenhagen user himself, and we were both discreet: no spitting in public, using pop-cans kept out of site, clean and neat as possible. And it did help me to cut down quite a bit on my cigarette consumption.

But after about a year and a half of of constant use I started to notice a noticeable "abscess" or pocket, forming in the back of my cheek where I put my dip. Very raw, very sore and very scary. Went to see a doctor, had one of the finest .... chewings I've ever received from anyone, let alone a doctor, dumped the Skoal, and went back to cigarettes.

About 2 months ago I latched on to E-cigs, but like Tropical Bob, and others here, I wasn't totally satisfied with them either. It just isn't the be-all, end-all for me that it is for many. So the quest for the Grail continued...

I'd actually heard of swedish snus before this, but immediately catagorized it as just another "brand" of smokeless dip tobacco. Wow, was I wrong. This is a different ball game altogether!

Checked out this thread, the swedish reports, etc, and by the time I had finished less than half this thread, had run down to the local store, grabbed a can of Camel Frost, came back - tried it, liked it, and put in an order to the Northerner for 10 different portion type brands!

To be truthful, I say I liked the Camel Frost, but it was more an "OK". I'm not a big fan of spearmint, which seems to be the main flavor. But it was more the way that the nicotine hit my system.

I swear I would have had to put 10 times that amount of Skoal (loose OR Bandits) in my lip to get that kind of contentment!
Not a "buzz" - just a quiet satisfaction.

I can hardly wait to try out the others. They'll arrive in 2 shipments. Some of the Generals are here in the states, the rest coming from Sweden. (I had them send it regular shipping because of the stories I've read of UPS wanting to play with import taxing game.)

Anyway, I've officially jumped on the band wagon! All Hail the Swedes!

But I refuse to eat lutefisk. (I'll stick to crappie, thank you...)

And NO Abba either.

:D

Grrrr... I'm getting impatient waiting for my order from the Northerner.

The bloom is off the rose, so to speak with my American Camel "snus". I've gone through about a half a can each of the Frost and the Mellow, and it just ain't cutting it for me.
Too, too, sweet, not enough nic to last... I need some salt in my diet!

:)

My first impression of Camel might have been clouded by my hope of "another weapon in the arsenal". But now I've got the feeling that until some real Swedish snus shows up at the mailbox, I'm still a snus virgin.
Sure, Joe Camel put his hand on my knee in the dark, but he never sent flowers, and he won't return my calls...

:p
