Can anyone tell if you've been smoking an e-cigarette indoors

Good idea the problem is my mother is very highly allergic to things with perfume so not allowed air fresheners or anything like that
In California, it is 24 hour notice as well but California law also lists permissible reasons that a landlord can enter an occupied unit. Emergency, Tenet has abandoned unit, to show prospective renters if tenet is moving out, provide access to contractors for agreed upon work, conduct inspection prior to end of tenancy, with a court order, or if tenet installs water bed to inspect installation. Written notice is required to be given during regular business hours and entry can only be during regular business hours 8 am to 5 pm weekdays. Emergency situations are exempt from requirement.
Don't think they can inspect for vaping in CA.
Sorry for going off Topic but I'm sure some of you have quit smoking I wondered what your advice would be on driving up the Rich List tick element of it such as I have a cigarette every night and every morning to relax
Yeah I’ve heard it’s pretty awful that way over there. Most property isn’t even sold it’s all 99 year leases. There’s actually a term: freehold for when you actually own your property. Reason #1 never t to move to the UK. The landed gentry never actually went away.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the possibility of an overly sensitive smoke detector. Many hotels and airplanes have smoke detectors that can pick up on ecig vapor. I suspect that if you're frequently setting off the smoke detector the landlord would have a good case against you. Disabling the smoke detector may not only be an eviction level violation, but could be illegal and would definitely leave you open to lawsuits if there ever was an actual fire while it was disabled.
In the OP's state, landlords do not have to give advance notice for entry. The tenant can refuse entry if there's a valid reason (illness, leaving the premises, etc.), but there's no rule that there has to be advance notice.
That's true. Like they'll keep your deposit anyway because we can't afford to fight them. I've been on both sides. Either way, vaping is not really an issue unless they catch you.
I rent, I clean the walls around my main vape area every 2 months, clean all my walls in fall and spring. One of the first things I do when moving into a place is do the scratch test with my fingernail on the paint and if it's cheap I'll grab a couple cases of beer, some friends and repaint before moving in, I absolutely hate cheap paint it can look horrible after just a few months of regular wear and tear. Most landlords love me, generally I like to find a cheap place that looks like crap, invest 1-2k into it and fix it up and enjoy cheap rent for a couple years and when I move out the place is always better than when I moved in, I usually paint a few months before moving out, have it move in ready as well to protect my deposit.
But that's just me I've seen many absolutely horrible tenants.
Of note, in the US federally subsidized low cost housing is now moving to ban all smoking in the buildings. they specifically are still allowing e cigarettes to be used.
It may seem insane the decorating or changing anything of the interior including positive changes can be seen as a violation of your contract and could even have you evicted in the uk
Everyone’s definition of nice is different though. It can make it smell quite a bit. Drastically less than cigarettes though.
getting approval is key, always ask my landlord if the color i've chosen is alright, usually a neutral color, many places around here won't allow dark colors..
Actually, the majority of properties are full freehold. Only flats (apartments?) are majority leasehold. Anyway, we certainly do have issues with landlords - I always returned deposits when I rented my house apart from (you guessed it) deliberate smoking indoors. Vaping will be targeted, people still talk of 'nicotine stains' rather than 'smoke stains' but hey, we can't change the mind set of the general public. Ignorance is bliss, or a big stick to beat people with.
Flats = condominium if you buy it, apartment if you rent it.

Your getting very good comments. My two cents, you are probably getting a reduced student housing rate. If caught, you could be asked to vacate. Vaping outside the property may be your only option. Will you get caught if you vape inside? Almost guaranteed.
