I tried to cut down a bit, especially since I went up from around 30 to around 40 a day after quitting an AD. I had not managed to cut down with gums, snus, snuff, or tobacco pipes. I never even tried to quit.

Can't recall when I heard first about PVs, but I remember investigating, months, maybe a year ago, and found them to be just too expensive and complicated. Then, around three months ago, I had another look at them. Ordered, and very quickly found myself not even wanting analogs any more.

Found out a month later that I need to supplement with snus. One or two pouches a day keep me happy, though. Those and a lot of liquid ;)

I wanted to quit for health reasons, but even as much of a reason was the taxes on the cigs that did not benefit me.

Add to that the fact that after all the insane taxes -- none of which benefited me by the way -- I was not even allowed to smoke here in socialist NY.

Screw that.

I ended up with the Joye 510. It works well and I have not had a regular cig since Nov 13 2009.

Added bonus -- NY state and the Obama regieme of Tax and Spend don't get those taxes anymore.

I Wanted to quit smoking and had tried gum, patches, even stuff from the Dr and still could not quit and with the analog started getting headaches and feeling bad and someone told me that it's where they started putting the fire control crap in the analogs if you look at the side of a pack of analogs and you see the letters FSC on there then it has it in there so i ordered my first e-cig and i have been smoke free since December 17 2009 and have not wanted a analog since my first vape so any one that has ever tried to quit and can't just let me say Try It you will be Amazed I sure was!!!! Happy vaping to all.............

I wanted to quit for a while and had tried a few times. I got up to about two weeks once before total relaspe. Then a cart at the mall I work at opened up for 'Smoking Everywhere'. That was the first time I had heard of electronic cigarettes.

I started with one of those and then moved on, but I should note I've since relapsed again and I have no gear right now. (long story) I'm actually back on the forum killing time waiting for my DSE901 and liquid to come in from Totally wicked.

i had quit !! i did chantix and did well ~ my dr was so happy I quit finally because I am in the beginning stages of empasmesma (sic) that she said she would prescribe chantix for the rest of my life, But as you all know there's a devil in smoking and I would still lite up. My d'in law introduced me to ecigs and I've finally found a way to quit forever cause i missed the action of smoking.

My buddy came over with a Gamucci ( I know GAG) and i thought to myself... there has to be one that works better, if so this is a great idea...
Google gave me THIS forum right off the bat, i ordered my first 510 kit and never looked back:)

Now I've got six complete 510's with two more and a PT on the way, an adapter and some KR's and a 901 atty comin too..
And I'm working on some pretty rad mods.. not the normal carry around mods, oddball novelty type stuff, first prototype "the smoking gun" being built tonight!

a couple weeks ago on a friday i woke up an hour b4 i had my alarm set (i woke up at 4 am) coughing and coughing and coughing, it was so bad i was gasping for breath and couldnt even get enough to cough more, i stayed home from work for a few days trying to "get over it" tuesday night i was coughing blood, went to the doc wednesday, they were testing for cancer, im only 21, i was cared ....less, then i remembered about a year ago me and my best friend went to our favorite pool hall, i had just come back from a year in wyoming and he was in town from school, every time we go to this bar i smoke a chocolate philly blunt and about 2 packs of smokes and he gets a kick out of seeing me with a "stogie" im about to light up and the waitress RUNS over to me and says i cant smoke here, but they were selling ecigs for $14/pack (as compared to my analogs at $5.75/pack.... i threw a fit i thought this ecig crap was just another commie way of trying to force me into quitting and stormed out of my fav bar... i asked the doctor if she had heard about the ecigs and she said she had another patient who had told her about them and said they were great, after i got my next paycheck i skipped my car insurance to buy my starter kit and a few other goodies, and im glad i did, i havent had more than 1 hit at a time on an analog in the last 4 days and those are just out of habit and to test out exactly how bad they taste now lol im still amazed at how much my taste buds changed after so little time, though i do kinda miss the way they used to taste... i wish they could come up with a "tastes like it used to" flavor lol i do still like the smell of charcoaled tobacco though, but i hate the smoke smell, im weird i guess

An email I got from a tobacco shop was advertising PVs which sparked my interest. I did some searching on them and found this site and spent several hours reading the wealth of info on here. I decided to try the 510 and maybe cut down or at least stop smoking in the house. I haven't had an analog since I got it a week ago although I do still have occasional cravings. Now I'm $120 into it, working on a mod, have nic juice and flavors ordered and an extra 510 kit. I even sold my beer making equip to help pay for this new hobby!

I kept seeing an add for one at a truck stop my carpool met at. At first I didn't even pay attention to it, then I laughed to myself about "an electronic cigarette", then I got curious and bought one, then I got mad that the claims weren't even close to the reality (carts didn't last a pack each.)
I finally went online and found this site and have been here ever since!:D

"Quitting is easy"
And it is. It's the staying quit. I've been hooked to nicotine for 18 years. I've quit so many many times. Twice for over a year (preggo with each of my girls). But staying quit sucked. I missed the social aspect. My whole extended family smokes. My dad smoked. Smoking was a big social+love+ good thing. I HATED the smell. I hated the sheezing and coughing. Every time I quit I knew I'd eventually go back because I liked that hand to mouth, and I always gained weight.
I heard about e-cigs a while back. Knew right then I wanted on. At my grandmothers funeral my dad had one. It was one of the more expensive ones, tasted like tobacco, but still! So I did some resurch. I was a heartbeat away from buying a blu when I found this forum. Instead I got 1e kit of a 510 and a Kr8. I love the Kr8 a bit more then the 510- but both have kept me sane.
1 month without a single analog, and instead of being a grumpy .... who's gaining weight and missing her ciggies. I'm happy. The juice flavors make me giggle. My teenage daughter isn't giving me grief over cancer (she's been trying to get me to quit for YEARS) and I smell good.

yeah :) e-cigs are a winner for me. I don't think I'll quit vaping. I like it too much!

Quit cold turkey in dec 08, had surgery in aug 09 but before I ran myself to the hospital because of the unbearable pain for 5 hours I smoked 3 stogs back to back while going there. I was in the hospital for 4 days and all I could think of was the incredible pain I was in and smoking a cigarette. When I got out I said to myself "I cant go back to smoking". Did my research on all possible options pills: HELL NO, patches: they slip off and aren't as effectinve percentage wise, gum : dont want to be chewing all day and like the patch arent as effective, snus:I dont want to put a teabag in my mouth filled with flavored chewing tobacco and salivate all day and this powdered nicotine stuff(I forgot the name): theres no way in hell im snorting something!! and all of these options cant and dont replicate the experience of actual smoking. Then I found PV's:BINGO did a month of research and jumped into it and ever since then I have been enjoying it and havent smoke a stog ever since and became a hardcore vapor telling everyone I know about it!!! I have been doing further research trying to find the whole story about them since the fall and Im confident about PV's and hope they become mainstream, I mean come on you cant say Vaping french toast in the mornings WHILE EATING FRENCH TOAST isnt the the best thing since sliced bread LOL. I got a mod and some adapters, my favorite juices and pick whatever atomizers I want from the best models out there and call it a day, best way to get into vaping hands down!

I saw a kiosk for smoking everywhere at the mall. Went home and did some research online and ordered a 901 kit and a passthrough. After those failed I went back to analogues for awhile but then saw a price drop on the pv I was initially interested in but was too expensive. Now I'm back on the vap thanks to all the useful info on this forum =D.

My cigarettes tasted more and more disgusting with all the changes they were making, and on principal I did not want to give any more tax money to a system that did not spend it appropriately no matter which "flavor" was in power.

I did not want to give up smoking, but the increasingly unsatisfying taste plus the tax thing was getting to me, so I was on the look out for alternatives

I read about the ecigs, and they seemed like a good idea, at least for part of the time. Then I realized one day that I had not smoked for a few days, and I also realized that given the straight choice of vaping or smoking I preferred to vape, so that was it.

Not a huge event, no drum rolls, not even a "Ta-dah". :|
