Amen, brother. I'm waiting for my first starter kit but I'm already celebrating finally getting out of the "captive tax-payer" pool. I'm so tired of financing someone else's "brilliant" idea while that someone else denegrates me to my face.

Because the windchill factor was -17 at 2 am while I was standing outside at work smoking.

i live in upstate ny and its about -15 out durring the day.
This is my primary reason for wanting to try vaping. I'm getting tired of standing outside in this cold Michigan winter hoping the boss doesn't see me sneaking two short cig breaks instead of one frozen 15 minute break. And if I happen to dial down to 0mg nic or drop the habit altogether, then I guess that's just gravy, right?

Personally, I identify myself as a smoker: one of the last remaining groups here in American who are still fighting for an American citizen's guaranteed right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

I had to quit again. I had quit smoking cold turkey Feb. 2 2008. Made it until the end of March 09.:p Started to smoke again and knew it would be harder to quit this time. Saw a segment on e-cigs on the Doctors show. Ordered a SE Gold in and then found this forum. After purchasing the correct equipment, thanks to everyones advice here, I was able to quit again.:w00t: Can't even remember the last analog I smoked (or tried to smoke I should say). Since I had only smoked a few (maybe 6?) packs before I was stocked up and comfortable with vaping, my doctor said to forget about it and just keep Feb 2 2008 as my quit date. Two years tomorrow!! Yaaa Hoooo!! And I got to check nonsmoker this year on our company insurance!!!:D

Har! That certainly factored into it! A friend had an e-cigar when we were on vacation, and I was curious about it. So I did some research when we got home, found the ECF, did a bunch of reading, and wound up ordering a Vapor King from Vapor4Life. On the 4th day I had it, I didn't light up a cig, and haven't since. I never really intended to quit, it just kinda happened.

I've been smoking for over 30 years and attempted to quit several times. It was torture. Nothing ever worked. I found e-cigs mentioned somewhere on another forum in early January and Googled it. Found this forum, decided to give it a try, and immediately became overwhelmed. Decided on a 510. I still haven't worked out how much nicotine I need. Anyway, I cut my analog habit about 60-to-70%. I call that a success.

just wanted to get everyones reasons why they bought theyre very first e cig.
was it because you wanted to quit smoking?
was it just an impulse buy?
or perhaps one of your friends let you try one, and went from there.

i, personally, thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread, and had to have it. after doing 37.5 non-stop hours of research i decided to get a joye 510 from cignot.com
that was about a month ago, and now im obsessed.
i still smoke 2-4 analogs a day, but its a big cut back from a pack and a half a day.
sorry i like to ramble on.

anyway, lets here it!

Two things for me.

1. I wanted to quit analogs

2. They're a gadget... And I love gadgets more than anything lmao.

I bought one because I DIDN'T want to quit smoking. But I don't want to die from it even more. I quit for five years and the urge never left. I LOVE smoking, so this is seemingly the perfect solution.

I tell people who ask me if they're healthier that I think so, but I probably have enough oil in my lungs now to fry a turkey.

Smoked since I was 15. The wife and I had our first baby in 2005, so naturally we wanted to stop smoking. To the patch I went (she quit cold turkey durring her pregnancy). WOW... that worked great. I quit for 7 months. Then started again. And so did the wife. Two years later, I wanted to try again. Got the Zyban. Didnt want to smoke, so it worked in that respect. But I also felt like a robot. Off the Zyban, and back to cigarettes. Fast forward to February of 09, and after our second baby... I wanted to stop again, so I was actually researching "smoking alternatives" like snuss and dip trying to calculate the harm reduction factors vs. how bad those options really are. Then a curious word showed up on my computer screen... "E-Cigs"... hmmmm...whats that all about??? I ended up on YouTube watching a dude named "Leaford" (props to you my friend!) blowing clouds of vapor from this thing. Well I showed the wife after learning all I could and how much safer they MUST be than cigarettes. What did she say to me? "We're not getting those stupid things!!" Hahahahaha... here we BOTH are, almost a year later... and neither of us have smoked since the first kits arrived. Now she says, "Im soooo glad you found these!!". I completely enjoy reminding her of her first reaction! :D
