Can I attach a coil to "opposite" + and - posts?

I have a fasttech Helios clone with 4 posts in the standard line-up, ie negative, positive, pos, neg in a row. Can I attach a coil from one negative, skip the paired positive and attach to the farther positive, to fit a longer coil? I hope this is clear. If posts left to right are 1,2,3,4. Can I run coils from 1 to 3 instead of 1 to 2 and 3 to 4?

Absolutely, in fact this is exactly how most people accurately "center" their coils, I use to love the helios...and then the plume veil...and now I am kinda digging on the orchid v4 (not as much clouds but same build deck in a tank is awesome!!!) new mutation x v2 also has same build deck and a few others....

Yyyeeeah now disintegrate your cotton with a dual 24ga parallel 7/6 (looks like 14/12!) coil setup! Do it.

As has been said... yes, you can. I do the same thing with my Orchid...
All that matters is that the coil has a positive connection and a negative connection... keep in mind that a short counts as a negative connection.........
