Can I run a silica wick tank setup in a genny style RBA?

Vaporoo in San Diego (B&M).

Thanks eHuman, I hear they carry a lot of Pinoy mods, true?

Hey StaircaseWit, I spoke with someone at Vaperoo a few days ago and they are working on an online store. I'm on the other side of the Continent!

And thanks pdib for explaining ceramic wicks.

Yes they have a close "in" with many of the PI manufacturers and get some things in before they show up on current watch lists. I understand that even though they don't have a website yet, you can call in and place an order. They have a FB page and update pix of new items in stock.

so, I, personally, wanted to answer this question with a mouthful of silica/Genny vapor. YES.

I braided three pieces of Avidvaper's "3mm" silica (tight). Torched it stiff, to work with better. wrapped with 28 Nichrome (=27 Kanthal). don't have an ohm meter anymore, guessing .8Ω, cause its a fat, fat wick (and that's what it vapes like). (this AGA has a 5/32" wick hole {fancy that!}). Very, VERY nice vaping experience.

Do you wrap your coil directly on the silica or the drillbit method? Also have you wrapped the coils farther apart or does it seem to work better with the coils touching or close to touching?

Finally, does sillica remove hotspots from the equation or does it still take some futzing with?

Oh ya I do like my agt much better with silica,Once it starts wicking good it keeps going great! No need to tilt any more then you would with mesh and no hot spots! I have a Atom Bomb that i'm gonna drill the wick hole bigger and use silica in it as well,it also like to get hot spots so i'm sure the silica will make it better!

Just made a rockin' tank coil! It's in an old Smok R-Tank made for silica and wire with two wick holes. I took the 3mm silica, made a loop in the middle, pinched the loop so there are 3 rows of silica within the loop. I wrapped the 3 rows with my Kanthal A1 then ran the 2 tails down either hole. The thing puts out massive amounts of vapor due to the 3 rows of surface area all being hit at once by the coil! Try it, you will like it.
