I've been having my juice turn to sludge in my richman rba - see http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...n/479480-juice-turns-sludge.html#post10965344 - and I think I've potentially found the culprit: when I vape, whatever open space in the tank exists, gets filled with vapor. I'm thinking it's condensing and sludging up the remainder - thus, I have a great vape at the start of a tank, and lousy sludge at the end.

My wicks (currently: ss-mesh-sleeved ekowool, but same occurs w/ straight ss-mesh, straight ekowool, or ekowool-sleeved ss-rope) are sized to fit the wick hole loosely enough to not bind and choke, they'll stay in place if raised out of the tank and let go. So, how's the vapor getting in there? If it only happened with ss-based builds, I'd say heat transfer is causing vaporization belowdeck, but it happens with straight ekowool as well, which I doubt conducts heat well enough to do that.

Is the simple answer that I'm going too loose? If so, how can I benchmark the right fit? I don't want to choke the wicks, after all. I thought that stays-in-place-when-released was the guideline =(

For that matter, does my diagnosis make sense, even? Is condensated vapor as culprit ridiculous?

in any genesis tank as you tilt the juice hits the coils and gets zapped, some of this juice goes back into the tank, its just the way it is. there are things you can do to reduce. too much wick oxidation helps this darkening of the juice, if one were to just oxidize by pulsing it wont be as bad. dark or sweet juices also helps this juice darkening, so the lighter the juice and less sugars will reduce the overall contamination. there are some that state they have eliminated this juice darkening all together by not tilting, this probably is possible with a different wick material. i don't really vape gennys anymore so don't worry about it as much. good luck

I think I've ameliorated the issue to a degree - I've been leaving the fill hole open on my rba's, and wondering if the condensate was the issue I plugged one up - don't have a proper plug, so I put a knot in a piece of ekowool and stuck that in the hole - and the problem is at least greatly lessened.

Next step is to tap the hole and put a screw in, I suppose. Not noticing any wicking issues with the hole plugged, thankfully.
