True that.... I still think the Sub tanks operate better with lots of airflow which feels strange to a new convert...But hey, I got off of smokes with a 3.7 V ego and a crappy CE4 clearo so anythings an improvement over that.
Hey, some of us got off cigarettes with a 510 model that uses cartridges.
Anybody remember those?

But yeah, I'm not going to pretend it wasn't a struggle for most of us who did so.
Hence the various old threads about things like blue foam.

I am glad that I started rather low since I learned more of the basics.
Nothing can replace the education you get from learning the basics first hand.
But I guess it can be argued that maybe people don't need to understand the basics with the new equipment available now.

I don't know.

I do know that I very much value the education I got from where I started.
But I also know that many smokers would be put off having to go through all that.

It comes down to the individual, and one size certainly does not fit all.
:)

There were still a few "blue foam" threads when I started vaping, but the consensus was that that those cartridges were best used to bait mouse traps by then.

Did seem like whatever kit you chose to buy still came with 2 SR atomizers & 5 cartridges tho'.

We should "absolutely" give people what they want, but if they want to quit smoking why give them something that is really-close to smoking?
What exactly defines "close to smoking" is the real question.
And the real answer is that it is kinda different for each person, because we all smoked for different reasons.

Nope. There are just people in the vaping community who are anti-sub-ohming and believe it's nothing more then adolescent cloud chasing.
To clarify, there are some that believe sub-ohming is a growing fad that is getting a bunch of non-smokers into vaping in a dangerous way.
It's not their fault, it is the vape shops fault when they don't follow through with proper education.

But such shops will go out of business soon enough, when they get their pants sued right off them.
And hopefully we'll be left with vape shops that do things the right way.

Noobs could have crawfish I guess but boiled crabs are definitely for the more experienced
I think soft-shelled crab is for the more experienced.
And I can't even imagine who likes those.

I bought a soft-shelled crab sandwich once in New Orleans, and I couldn't even eat it.
What a waste of money that was.

Yeah there's no doubt in my mind that if a person wants to quit smoking via vaping they can...It's simply that good these days. but I still worry about newbies putting a Sub-tank on a Istick mini and us having another "Mod Explodes" thread that goes 200 pages deep..

Well they didn't make an Istick30 in dec. of 2014, so I guess you would have been out of luck & stuck with cigarettes.

I started vaping before January 1 of this year and there were other things available other than the eGo I had bought when I started. Just sayin'. I probably would've quit smoking all together had the iStick 30 been around early last year. lol

I've been seeing this more and more. "Oh get a Subtank, it has such great flavor!"
A newly ex-smoker doesn't want a Subtank. They want to emulate a cigarette. Even with the airflow turned down to a quarter of one hole on my Subtank it's still waaaay more airy than I wanted when I started vaping. I've come to find that the Atlantis/Subtank are basically worthless if you aren't lung inhaling. Most smokers don't lung inhale, ergo most recently quit smokers won't either.

Sure these new cloudomizers (see what I did there? I want credit for that) are cool and lots of fun, but the great majority of people coming blindly into vaping will not be interested in them. Had you handed me a Subtank when I started vaping I would have found it unusable, not just because of wattage issues but because of the airflow.

Just something to consider when giving out advice, solicited or otherwise.

exactly man.i see it all the time. on a facebook groups the other day someone asked for advice on a new tank for there ego style mod. guy told him to get a subtank. why? these are way to advanced for a new vaper. but yet everyone feels the need to push them. oh i forgot to add the part about it not working on an ego... or it would blow up. one of the 2.

Funny. I had an encounter this afternoon, and this thread is back on the front page.

My boss vaped for awhile, but reverted back to cigarettes, all before I started vaping. He smokes A LOT!! He was talking to me about giving vaping another try today, but was complaining about the troubles he had with ego's, ce4's, etc. The first thing I suggested to him was my mvp3 and the subtank mini. That setup just works, works all day, and works well. I did not recommend a 150 watt box mod and a dripper. I really still fail to see what is soooo advanced about this tank, and why so many people are so riled up about it. Mods that can fire .5 safely are all over the place, cheap, and easy to use. The tank itself couldn't be easier. Pop on a head, fill, and vape. No fuss, no muss. If i didn't know how to rebuild and had never discovered drippers, this would be my dream vape. I understand that it's not going to be the same for everyone, but if someone expresses interest and the form factor isn't a problem, it's high on my recommended list.

That's true, but vaping at 1.2ohm is also not for everyone either. Sure, you can lower the wattage or voltage, and adjust for airflow, but....

You are absolutely right. Nobody said this is the ONLY tank out there for a newbie. I'm only arguing that it is certainly a viable option. The subject of the thread was that this should not be recommended to a new vaper. I wholeheartedly disagree. If he or she wants to start on an ego and a ce4, fine by me. If he or she wants something more, this is where i would send them.
