Electronic cigarettes are an alternative to smoking, not a smoking cessation device. That being said, many people use them to get themselves off of the dreaded analogs. I'm just wondering how others have fared with this. I will give you 5 examples of so called converts (the fifth being myself) and what happened after being introduced to e-cigs.

I introduced e-cigs to my band, my wife and her best friend.

Me: Took about 3 weeks to get off of the analogs. I started with Blu, but my Vapor Kings came a day after I quit for the first time. Status: As long as my liquid of choice is available, no cigs for me. Never going to quit vaping. They will take my PV when they pry it from my cold dead fingers.

My Wife: Never really took to it. Still smokes. Says she plans to quit after graduate school. Too much stress. Status: Uses PV when she runs out of analogs.

My wife's best friend: Never smoked another cigarette after her vapor Kings arrived. Status: Has said that she will eventually quit vaping. Is down to 4mg nicotine.

My wife's best friend's husband (the guitar player): Tried it for a month or so but was soon back on the analogs. Status: has since quit analogs cold turkey.

The drummer: Got both Vapor Kings and Blu. Hasn't had a cigarette since they came. Status: Not sure if he will keep vaping or eventually quit but doubtful he will return to analogs.

I guess the bottom line is when someone asks me about e-cigarettes and whether they help you to quit smoking, my response will be...

"Only if you want them to."

In my humble opinion the answer to your question is a definite and resounding YES!

On June 31st. I received my Stater Kit from V4L, I immediately charged up the batteries, Plugged in a PT with a Spearmint Nobacco Cartomizer and began vaping. To date I have gone from a 3 to 4 pack a day smoker to Zero Analogs since that very first day! I Do Not Crave a cigarette, Can Not Stand the smell of a cigarette, and I can smell a smoker from quite a few feet away! The smell absolutely makes me want to throw up! I can actually smell the Cigarettes that my neighbor is smoking on her back porch and that is about 50 feet away from my back porch!

I may be one of the lucky ones, but I sure feel happy about it and I feel much better with every day! :)

I quit smoking 2 days after I started vaping, and it wasn't cus I was trying to quit. Got into ecigs cus of the novelty and to have a hit of nic at my non-smoking workplace.
Bottom line for me is vaping is so much better than smoking every was,( almost 40 years), and I'm a happy vaper closing into my 2 year mark.
I smell better and feel better :)

I've never been one of those people who thought cigarette smoke smelled bad. Even before I smoked. And even though I vape in favor of smoking, I still don't think the actual smoke smells bad. What smells bad is when you put a cigarette out. I remember trying to save money once and only smoking half a cigarette at a time. I would put it out and put it back in the pack and go about my business. Then I would say "Ew... what's that horrible smell? Ugh... it's me."

I must say that I feel sorry for the people who I used to wait on at work. I would go outside and down 1 or 2 cigarettes and then come back in and talk to customers. I knew I absolutely reeked. Cigarette smoke? Not a bad smell. That stale smell that clings to your clothes, hair and rots your breath? Putrid.

Right you are, Firefox. I never smoked another cig after my first vape more than a year ago. My thought during my first minute of vaping was "I can do this." I wanted it to work, and it did. On the other hand, someone I know was dubious at first, and she soon went back to cigs for a few months. Eventually, about 9 months ago, when her cig-cough came back and ...... her off enough, she returned to vaping and never looked back.

Vaping may be the best way to quit, but timing is the key.

I was off of cigarettes by the 2nd day, after I got my V4L kit. And I haven't gone back to those dreadful analogs since. I would say a definate YES! You can quit...after 37 years of smoking, and up to almost 2 packs a day...I did! Sept. 11th will be 1 year for me. I don't even want to be around the smell of cigarettes anymore.

I bought the ecig because I thought it would be convenient to have when traveling and when I was in situations where smoking wouldn't work. After 2 weeks of vaping and smoking, I knew it had to be one or the other and if I ever wanted to quit, this would be my chance. It's been almost 7 months now and I still have 3 packs of smokes in the freezer. I have given out many v4l cards and set up about 5 ppl with batteries and varios cartos to try it, but so far, no one else I know has quit. But I have heard some great excuses as to why it didn't work. Bottom line is that this is a great quit smoking aid and alternative, but only if you want it to be

We did the research, talked it over between us and decided to wait to use our e-cigarettes after we ran out of analogs. Both my husband and i have quit completely using e-cigs. We quit immediately, never to return and we are 100% nicotine free as well as smoke free.

The key is to stop doing as they tell you to do... see it as an alternative and start doing what is best for you! See it as a method to quit. We opted to listen to our own opinions rather than the opinions of people who are unable to relate.

Note: since we quit we have found unopened packs of analogs in various places around the house and opted to toss them out (as recent as last weekend)

After 40 years smoking and up to 3 PAD, last 10 years, I vaped most of time with 2-3 analogs, every few days, with glass of wine for first month. Second month consumed less than one pack and chain vaping. Third month tried an analog a couple of times but couldn't finish one. Fourth month and on no desire to even pick up an analog. Coming up on ONE YEAR vaping next month.

First couple of months vaping I wanted only tobacco flavors and no sweet; now don't really like toacco flavors and like sweet.

DH, 55 year smoker, 2 PAD, started vaping same time. He uses only tobacco flavors but still uses about 2 packs analogs a week.

We look at it as "It's not how many analogs you smoke; it's how many you don't smoke."

I'll answer with a resounding YES! I was a 1.5 to 2 PAD smoker for 28 years who tried cold turkey a couple of times with no success. I had my last analog at 8:50 pm 12/31/10 and went straight to vaping. The first week on ecigs, I had a couple of urges to go get a pack of analogs, but no urges since then. I must admit, cig smoke still smells good to me at times, but not good enough to start back up and put up with the hacking cough. Eventually, I might even go down to 0mg nicotine, but for now I'm just happy to be rid of the other thousands of chemicals in analogs.
