outside of planes are there any rules and regulations prohibiting the use of E-cigs in indoor public places?

as we know smoking laws don't refer to electronic cigarettes..but some businesses/private property recently have adopted policies to restrict/prohibit ecigs...other than those instances could we virtually vape anywhere?

also could smoke detectors be virtually the only issue with smoking indoors? from my experience smoke detectors do detect vapor especially thick dense clouds my assumption is the clouds of vapor itself blocks the laser (optical sensor) setting off the smoke detectors as vaping doesn't emit anything that would be my only assumption here...would this possible be the only real reason why a Cafe or something wouldn't want vapers?

The employees of my local pub use to let me vape in the store, but since people have complained, I am no longer allowed to vape in their. I guess that would be the number 1 reason they won't allow you to vape in their shop.

Also in Canada they are passing/passed regulations that you can't vape anywhere where smoking is prohibited.

you mean they don't want you to vape there? or you can't like they made rules etc...?

Basically, you have to ask. I use to be able to vape in a local Smoke-free casino, but, not now. They changed the rules. Unfortunately, to some, if it looks like smoke, it must be smoke. Be courteous and ask. My local Hardee's just put up a sign, it says, No Smoking, No E-cigs.

Also, it does set off some smoke alarms on the boat I work on. We have particulate and heat alarms, the heat ones do not go off, but blow vapor at the particulate one and it goes off. It does it for hairspray too!
yeah i think it's the optical sensor in the detector not all detectors work the same...but the usual ones have a laser if anything disturbs it...it goes off

Wow, maybe I've been lucky so far. I travel a lot and vape in my hotel room all the time.

Well hotel ventilation is on another level o.0

but vapor dissipates quite quickly not exactly sure but i'd guess around 10-20 seconds i think you're safe as long as you don't blow the vapor pretty much directly to the detector or if you've got a window open or something...

but i've seen reddit posts tho of people being fined by hotels for vaping and setting off smoke alarms doing so : / but more than likely they'll have to remove the fine if you challenge it...most hotels don't have rules for vaping...the fine would be for smoking...but they can kick you out i'm sure o.0

as we know smoking laws don't refer to electronic cigarettes.

All depends on where you live. There's that thing called "local laws".
In Utah vaping was added to the state Clean Air Act in 2012. So basically the only places where it's legal to vape are where it's legal to smoke. (vape shops are the only exception)

oh wow...i think they JUST started that in Sacramento or SF not entirely sure tho...but i haven't really seen anything like that in LA.

But yeah you're totally correct! but most cities don't have any laws that pertain directly to E-cigs

In the absence of the FDA regulations, states (and local bodies) are taking it upon themselves to treat ecigs any way they choose. We fight for vaping wherever we see them bring up legislation. Some we win, some we lose.

More and more localalities are jumping on the 'vilify so they can justify' high taxation bandwagon.

    Huh!?!?

Wow, thought I had heard it all......till now.

In one regard I could see it. We now have boxes that have wifi, bluetooth and all sorts of various means of adjusting current.. Slot machines use current as well. What is to say some ingenious vaper is not also a computer whiz, finds a way to have an application amplify surrounding current, negative or positive and even on a timing cycle. This could be used to gain advantage over slot machines. Granted it is a little bit of a stretch. Given the Emacs motto though, rule 34 "If an emacs mode for it don't exist, somebody will make it," figure such an idea is being worked on. * uses his copy of Alt+time-travel-mode and enters time fifteen minutes later * Yep, they made that and six casinos got robbed by a group of e-cig hackers. :)

And um, now the FCC is wanting to close ECF for posting the idea that spawned the hacking.

"This just in, corporate banks cannot keep a pace of the e-cig hackers robbing their ATMs. Justice department called on to end wave of mass hysteria in light of e-cig hacker takeover of the world. Film at 11!"

"Flash: One e-cig hacker known as some mysterious combination of letters is heard to have said, "We need only the money, forget the laws if we get the money we got the win" ... Stay tune for further updates."

"dots and dashes ... This just in over teletype, it seems a rival e-cig hacking group has threatened to turn the Volume Up sending people to hide underground. They are using the frequency 9.7MgHz to block the mysterious letters guy from impuining on the direction of the e-cig hacking attacks. This new group chants "Dis is fer de family, eh! Cloudz We chuck fer ya! Woot mon, woot mon!"
