Can you vape at work?

In NYC they changed the law and made it illegal to vape anywhere you can't smoke analog cigarettes. I vape basically all day long at my desk at work. No one has said anything yet, but should I just start going outside with the smokers? I really don't want to, I get more done by staying in front of the computer (when I'm not on here lol) and just vaping then going on the elevator from the 23rd floor to outside. It takes like 30 minutes to go outside and smoke and come back, I know I did it for like 8 years.

I kinda of feel bad, what should I do?

I can vape at work... No one ever says anything. (I'm in Georgia) I tend to only vape on long conference calls though... I actually like to go outside with the smokers to get up from my desk. I'm just not a big fan of sitting down all day...

I was at a bar the other night though, and a women came up to me extremely upset telling me to quit vaping inside and said it was illegal. That conversation did not go too well. haha

I feel for your plight but I don't have much to offer in help I'm afraid. We have no laws specific to vaping here in Dublin, Ireland just yet but as we were "the first country to introduce fully smoke-free workplaces (March 2004)." as wikipedia confirms, the general response to vaping inside is negative and public transport companies are of course starting to talk about a ban.

I work on the 2nd floor and it sunny outside today I actually like going outside for a vape. Perhaps it's time for a career change or maybe take an evening class in stealth vaping?

Sooooo,

She came up to me and my buddy. We were both playing pool and taking a few puffs on our e-cigs. I believe I had my mech and he had an ego style.

She came up to us with a HUGE attitude and said, "I'm going to need you to stop smoking those in here." (think of the .....iest voice you can imagine)

We proceeded to explain that they are electronic and it is vapor.

She was not having it.... She proceeded to tell me how they are toxic and that I don't know what's in there and that is illegal to use them indoors. She and my buddy argued intensely for about 5 mins and she decided to get the manager of the bar, who laughed and told the lady to get over it haha. :D

I don't "ask for permission". I figure when/if someone says something to me, I'll "ask for forgiveness". I do have my own office (with a door!) that I typically leave mostly closed throughout the day. My close co-workers all know I do (they too are pleased that I've quit smoking), and they dig the "bakery smells" from my office. I also have a personal Keurig from which various coffee aromas fill the air. As long as I'm not blowing out some hazy cloud when a "big boss" enters (and they wouldn't if my door's closed, hell, they hardly ever even walk by my office) I doubt anyone would care. I think I'm lucky in that regard....

I'm in NY, but I work out on Long Island. Pretty sure there's the indoor ban out here too, but I just recently started openly vaping in front of my boss to test the waters and he's pretty psyched on it. I was leery at first cause I didn't want to get "icksnay" right off the bat. But he's seeing that I'm more productive and he certainly is into that. Also I think it helps that he isn't aware of any laws regarding vaping :p
