candle wicks for coils?

I think this may be a stupid question but I have some candle wicks that came from the craft store. Can I use them in coils?
It says on the package that they are a zinc core wick. If not I'll get some silica. Thank You.

Get some CelluCotton (Rayon) instead. Or silica, if you must!

Of goodness gracious NO!! Get some 100% cotton peaches and cream yarn at the Walmart, good for wicking tank coils.

Thank you. I thought since it had zinc I it it was questionable. I'll either go to Wall-Mart or order some silica on line.
