Hi this is my first post here. I've been smoke-free for 11 months & vaping for 5 months. Within the past few weeks I've developed canker sores & blisters inside my mouth. They might not even be related to vaping but a recent search showed that high pg juices may cause mouth ulcers. Does anyone here have experience with this? Initially I stayed consistent with 3 or 4 juices, but recently I've started experimenting more. I've bought new brands & flavors & I rarely used just 1 at a time. I don't know which juice, if any, may be the culprit. I also don't know how to tell what the pg/vg ratio is in any of them. I know my mouth hurts, nothing tastes right, and vaping has become less enjoyable. Any ideas?

I had that happen. Turned out there was a tad of cinnamon in my juice, obviously, it burns me I guess.

The only other time....using a chrome drip tip God only knows what they make these out of, but always always always wash your drip tips several times a day......collects a lot of bacteria

stopped doing those 2 things and it never happened again

1. If you don't know the PG/VG ratio as well as the nicotine content - don't buy it!

2. Vaping can cause what dentists call dry mouth. Use an oral rinse or gargle several times a day. See your doctor or dentist if it doesn't clear up. :2c:

I was able to find pg/vg info on almost all of the juices I've used recently. Most are 30/70 so I doubt they're an issue. 2 are 50/50. Could that be an issue? The last is made local by a shop owner so I will contact them for that info. As for nicotine almost all my juices are 0% except one that is 12% which is why I started mixing them in the first place lol.

Is dry mouth common with vaping? I don't recall it being an issue for me until recently.

Thank you!

I'm sure I don't clean my drip tip often enough. What do you use?

Cold sores/canker sores are related to the herpes virus...a version that something like 80%+ people have. They can be contagious, even though ultimately they are just a minor annoyance. Did you let someone try your device?

I imagine that 80%+ people probably believe canker sores are the same thing as cold sores and so they too are caused by the herpes virus. Fortunately for my unsuspecting friends who have tried my device, that is not true.

You are somewhat near a great vape shop- The Vaper's Knoll in Pasadena. Check them out and you can try an assortment of PG/VG ratios to see which works best for you. I suggest PonPon Juice. It is delicious...

Thanks! I will definitely look into that. My area has 2 new vape shops that have been amazingly helpful but I think I've already sampled every juice they offer.

Hmmm well then that probably wouldn't be the case for me. I have been vaping more than I used to but I didn't just begin.

I still really think it is a flavoring. and/or tip. I didn't have one of those sores until 1.5 years into vaping. And the only thing that changed was one of those chromey tips that is on a protank II, AND/OR, the fact that there was some cinnamon or cardomom or something in my juice, a juice I had never ordered or vaped before.

But the bacteria thing....well you are putting something in and out of your lips all day, then sometimes you set it down, or it is in the console of your car, etc. it collects "stuff", exposed to air, then back in mouth, etc.

I really feel people UNDERESTIMATE this part. Wtih a cigarette, you smoked it, then tossed it out. With vape gear, you are using over and over again all day.

I just wipe it off with wipes, then wipe that off with some water. Or I detach the drip tip, several times a day, and wash it off.

The thought of NOT doing that kinda freaks me out to be honest.
