I have vaped on and off for about a year but just got serious in the last month and a half. The first 2 weeks I only smoked 4 packs then I got stressed out with family problems and started smoking more analogs. I would love to vape only but I feel more secure if I have my analogs. I have thought about not buying analogs but I have not reached that point yet. I can't even go out of the house without them. Will I ever be secure enough to leave analogs alone? How do I ever get to the point of just wanting to vape? I have smoked for 34 years and I vape 24 mg. Would someone please help me!

I would jump to a higher mg level. That should do the trick. Hope you have better luck with that.

What device are you using? Some devices are better in giving an overall satisfactory experience. What works for others may not necessarily work for you, so I encourage you to explore more about the myriad choices of devices available to you.

I only recently was able to totally shun cigarettes, around two months ago. I had the devices I thought needed (mechs, rebuildable attys) but missed out on an important factor--nicotine strength of juice. I found it with 18mg and I now only need that strength a few times a day; I vape lower nicotine juice most of the time. Also, don't feel bad about not totally being analog-free. It may take some time and lots of patience. Experimentation, too.

I vaped when I could and smoked when I had to for awhile. One day I discovered I had forgotten to smoke the day before. There were two key points that made something like "forgetting to smoke" possible even if it remains unbelievable.

The first was getting the right level of nicotine. This took awhile because I started at 12mg/ml and slowly increased and ended up at a rather high level when I felt it was enough.

The next was finding a flavor that actual satisfied, made me feel satisfied much like a cigarette would. This took even longer because I knew what I like to smoke and was determined to find a vape that matched that. I wasted a bunch of time and had quite a collection of bottles of juice before I obtained a bottle of juice that was the weirdest flavor I could imagine and I knew I would hate it. Of course I discovered that I was an idiot and that weird stuff gave me a satisfied feeling from the first vape.

From that point my vaping increased and my smoking decreased. It was a shock to discover that the pack I put in my pocket that morning had the same number missing as it did the day before. I carried that pack around for a few more months just in case I wanted a cigarette. Ended up giving the pack to a homeless man, along with the lighter, when he asked me for a cigarette since I never did really want a cigarette.

For me...it was mostly a matter of making up my mind and sticking with it. Also telling a few friends (who's opinions matter to me) that I was going to quit smoking by using e-cigs was an added motivator. Rather like when I had to change cigarette brands due to rising prices. I'd try the cheap brand and simply tell myself "I can get used to this!". And I did. When I ordered my first e-cig kit I did my research, and looked forward to it's arrival. The day it arrived I gave it a go...and that was that. I'd made up my mind, people I cared about me were watching me and danged if I was going to look weak in front of them! I have been vaping nearly 2 years now...and never touched another cigarette from the day that first kit arrived.

I know about stress and family problems. My husband developed a life threatening and crippling illness and was forced into retirement because of it. My two grown sons got into a major shoving match in my kitchen (while husband was still in the hospital) and one of them got his ankle broken. It didn't heal properly and he still limps. It also put a kibosh on his going into the Navy..which he was supposed to be doing one month after the "incident". Now he's unemployed and living at home. (sigh). Meanwhile, I'm dealing with my own issues with a damaged back and severe arthritis in my hips and hands. Then I was tested and it looks like I'm going diabetic and have to do testing and go to a health coach. On top of that..my daughter's husband went into officer's school for a few months so she's moved in with us with her 11 month old baby in tow. A VERY fussy, willful, aggravating (but cute) baby. Our whole household is turned upside down and in turmoil with them here. All of this with only a very limited SS disability income. Yep. I know stress.

I'm not "better" or "stronger" than anyone else. Far from it. But I DID make up my mind. And I'm too proud to back off that decision.
I've gone through the whole gamut of devices from the original cigalike to egos to tube mods (both mechanical and variable voltage) and bottom feeders...and back to VV box mods. I've tried all sorts of things..cartomizers, atomizers, clearomizers. I've landed on carto tanks. I DIY my own juice. No one knows my "tastes" better than I do.

Going up in nic "may" help. Or not. For me...although I smoked between 2 and 2 1/2 packs of full flavor Clippers a day for years (and my smoking habit spanned 43 years in all) ...higher nic contributed to my anxiety. I gradually cut down and was more comfortable at 12mg. until I decided to decrease my nic all the way. Over the past year that's what I've been gradually doing. Not there yet...at 3.5mg. now...but I'm on my way. But I won't quit vaping. Need the hand to mouth thing. I can give up cigarettes...even nicotine. I can give up drinking. But I can't give up the hand to mouth thing. And figure why bother to try?

More information would help to let us help you.
What cartomizers and battery are you using?
Do you know the ohms of your cartomizer?
Your vaping experience will be very different with something like a variable volt twist than with a cig-alike you buy at a convenience store. So to give an answer we need to know what you are experiencing now.

What type of flavor are you vaping? What type of device are you using? I would suggest vaping tobacco flavors until you quit analogs. I can suggest some good tobacco flavors I've tried a lot of them.

Agreed. I also found salvation in tobacco flavors. They don't really taste enough like the real thing but I found them the most satisfying of all. I have 20 flavor concentrates (I bought that many trying to find what I wanted) and I can actually go without them, save for the tobacco ones. Give 'em a try. :)

My only advice would be to try and find that comfort zone needed. Increased Nic. Better control over stress situations. Whatever it is YOU feel needs to be done.

For me, it was No cigs in possession.
A nic that was comfortable in a Flavor I enjoyed.
A Nic Higher for overload situations.
The decision to walk away from anything creating undue stress. i.e. argumentative situations.
Coping is part of life - controlling your situation as best possible is a big part of coping.

Good luck

In my experience, it wasn't just the Nicotine that I craved. I think it was the psychological and other additive aspect of the analogs that I craved while vaping.

I believe the other additives are no longer present, so your body will crave for it, even though it's unknown, but your mind knows it lies within the analog brand that you used to smoke.

The other aspect is the "start" to "finish" aspect of a cigarette. When I extinguish my cigarette, I can see how much I smoked (half stick, down to the filter, etc.). With my vaporizer, unless I have the Kanger T3S tank on, I can't really tell how much mg I'm taking in.

Stronger Nicotine may not be a complete solution. You have to train your mind that the satisfaction is finished after vaping a few puffs, and try to fight the craving for the other additives by fooling your brain that the entire chemical addiction was satisfied with these Nicotine E-Juices...

:)

I've smoked for 28 years. I tried Chantix and easily quit for about 4 months but due to a serious personal issue I started back up. Tried the Chantix again about a year aftwards but just couldn't kick the habit as easliy as the first time. I did love the vivid dreams tho!
So this past Friday I was off due to furloughs and woke up and went and bought a Blu disposable. 400 puffs my &!#...
The thing only lasted a couple hours but in that time I didn't touch an analog! So I ended up here, did a little research and ordered the Ego-C from VaporTalk. I continued smoking analogs up until the drive home yesterday where I knew my new Ego was waiting.
I have not smoked an analog since! I only had 7 cigs in my pack when I was on my way home yesterday, there's no way I would have went home normally with only that many. Today, my smoking buddy was still smoking analogs and I had no desire whatsoever to have one. I just vaped =)
Sofar I'm having issues with one of the Ego's leaking a bit but other than that I'm pretty impressed...not so much with the Ego as the whole E-Cig thing. The cheapies at the gas station are nothing compared to the real thing.
So today I ordered a Provari! Maybe it's a little soon to jump the gun but I'm a firm believer in "Buy quality, cry once, buy cheap, cry all the time".
I didn't get the starter kit since I wanted a black one. I got 2 batteries, charger, Provari mod and the Protank. Is there anything else I need for this unit? I tried to get all the things listed in the starter kit.
Bottom line is I'm stoked! I spent all weekend on this forum learning as much as I could and built myself up mentally that this was exactly the thing to get me to quit. No more nasty ashes or smell and I get almost the same feeling as analogs.
...not to mention I like the whole paraphernalia aspect. I like toys :D

This is what has helped me the most. WTA e-Liquid
Getting the alkaloids instead of just the nicotine has made a big difference for me. You can add it to other juices you like, or add flavoring. WTA feels different from vaping, and even a little more intense than smoking because you actually "feel it." Hope it helps.

I have struggled to completely kick the analogs. Everyone I know smokes, so even though the vaping works for me, it's just too easy to bum one or grab one outta the wife's pack. I have confidence though, that if I stick with it, I will kick the stinkies aside. It ain't easy thats for sure. Just got a mod that might help me kick them forever, hoping it works.

Keep trying! And good luck!

Don't give up on your vaping just yet! Hang in there, try different juices, different nicotine levels, even different types of devices! I still cannot believe I quit smoking after 23 years. But I did!!! I love my vaping, and my liquid nicotine, but I FEEL so much better! My lungs love me again, and I can actually imagine myself eventually enjoying a walk or some exercise without coughing up a lung. Just hang in there, Don't view having a ciggarette as a fail, view it as a reminder of what you are moving away from. Give yourself time. <3 :)

How do I ever get to the point of just wanting to vape? I have smoked for 34 years and I vape 24 mg. Would someone please help me!

just my 2 cents:

deal with the 2 issues separately. you need to reduce analog use and increase vape use.

for analog, i posted my recommendation somewhere around here.

1- quit "storebought" cigs. a few reasons for this are that having a "pack of cigs around poses problems: you see the pack, you want a cig; you end deciding that the whole pack must be smoked. make your own, or RYO as it is called. get a cheap plastic cig injector, i recommend these:

Amazon.com: Cigarette Maker Rolling Machine 3 Cigarette At Once: Everything Else

get some dual use pipe tobacco, "the good stuff" or "kentucky select" at the least. $24 for 14 or 16oz, makes 2 cartons (or get a 6oz pack). tubes run 2.50 to 4 bucks. local pipe/cigar stores have these laying around for months, so the tobacco gets real dry; real dry equals harsh. a make-shift humidor, consisting of a 1 by 1 inch dampened sponge sitting in a little nappy dish, in an airtight container will suffice. once you tobacco is revived, it will taste better than any storeboughts. withthe triple, you can make 6 or 9 real quick when you go out. gradually, get to where you don't ever make more than 3 at once, then take it to make as you go.

2 -vapes: increase your vaping pleasure, a cheap vv or vw battery and a better clearomizer.

Ego-V MOD 1200mAh Variable Voltage Battery

or

Innokin iTaste VV v3 Variable Voltage / Wattage 800mAh Passthrough Battery - iTaste V3 Battery

and this is cheaper here, but out of stock:

Variable Voltage eGo-V v2 Mega Battery (1200mAh) with Built in Passthrough Function and LCD | eGo-V v2 Mega Battery

those are pass-throughs, so you can use them while charging

find someplace where they let you try their juices. get 2 or 3 that you like. i don't know what style of clearomizer you prefer. some choices here:

Variable Voltage eGo-V v2 Mega Battery (1200mAh) with Built in Passthrough Function and LCD | eGo-V v2 Mega Battery

others here:

Clearomizers

a 36mg juice may help you more, but need need to determine if you want tobacco flavors or just flavors that taste good. hit a local brick and mortar store and do some taste testing.

the advantage of combining RYO and vaping is that you save $$ on analogs and you get out of that "20 at a time mindset". eventually, instead of just deciding if you really want an analog, wanting to make one becomes a factor as well. you also remove that "buying a pack vrs quitting" dilemma. you have the stuff, make one if you want, don't if you don't.

try to get down to just "ritual cigs". eg, first in the morning, just after eating, having coffee, etc. plan to stop smoking in the house/apt. you want a cig, go for a walk. if "going out" is your problem, consider only smoking in the car.

view it as 2 different things: reducing/quitting analogs and "getting a better (or more enjoyable) vape.

consider each analog not smoked a victory. hopefully you will find you fav flavors and sweet spot on the vv or vw. once you look forward to your vaping more than you do smoking, it'll get much easier. don't be afraid to try flavors of you favorite "treats" as plain tobacco flavors tend to taste like ashtrays. flavored tobacco, as opposed to tobacco flavor taste way better when your are vaping. (try to get 2 or 3 flavors to use)

and remember, you are not a failure. you are trying to quit, for some it is a longer journey. find some local vapers. they can show you how to spend your money more wisely on gear. if you go RYO, you'll have more money for that gear.

good luck.

After almost three years of vaping things have turned around for me. Cigarettes just don't taste like the real thing anymore.
