Maybe I can offer some encouragement. When I ordered my first e-cig I thought it would never work for me. The day I received my e-cig I tried really hard to avoid smoking a real cigarette. I lasted 12 hours before going outside to smoke at 2 AM. For those 12 hours all I could think about was smoking an analog. After I finished smoking the urge to smoke was just as strong as it had been before. Basically I discovered the urge to smoke an analog was all in my head. It's been over 5 months since I've had a cigarette, and the urge to smoke has dropped to almost zero. I think by putting pressure on myself made the transition harder than it had to be. I would take it easy on yourself and just take it at your own pace.

i quit cold turkey on analogs when i switched over ... and if it wasn't for me starting a thread about detoxing i don't think i would have made it through the next week. it helps to know that other people go through the same things as you are. switching to vaping as i have discovered is a choice ... one that you must think about constantly at first until you break yourself of the MENTAL addiction to analogs. once you make it through the mental side and the detox from the chemicals vaping becomes the easiest thing in the world to do and enjoy. i should probably mention that i had three days during my detox period that i slipped and bought a pack and smoked several out of it ... the last time i did this after 3 or 4 analogs i felt like i was going to throw up due to the nasty taste of them and the feel that someone was standing on my chest. after that instance i haven't had any trouble .... best thing that worked for me was staying ahead of my cravings because e-cigs work differently than analogs ... e-cig do not instantly cure your craving if you wait until you have to have nicotine and you try to vape to get this fix you may turn to an analog after 10 minutes of this craving not being satisfied. i personally vape very casually but usually 2 or three times an hour all day but i only take 3 or 4 hits each time ... this helps me feel like im not longer a smoker and helps me stay ahead of my cravings ..... different things work for different people you just have to keep trying until you get it right. vaping is a lifestyle change ... those don't happen over night but if your serious about doing it then in time and when your truly ready you will be able to make the switch with little to no problems. i hope this helps

Go 6v. That's what did it for me. If I had stayed on 3.7v I would probably have gone back myself

A bit about myself. I started chewing tobacco in college. Hated that after awhile and started to smoke to stop chewing. I knew that would work as I hated smoking - absolutely could not stand it. Flash forward 14 years and I am now a 1.5-2 PAD smoker.

Recently I had to go on a long car trip and could not stand the thought of having to go 14hrs without my American Spirits. I ran across the e cigs and almost bought one with the "only pay S&H". Right after i put in my CC I ran across this Forum - the thread I found was the one about the Shipping and Handling scams! I closed my CC and got a new one. I was convinced that I needed some local help - even though the posters here said don't do it - I went to a local cigar shop and purchased the mall e cig. Needless to say it did not do me a very good job the help was not there and wouldn't you know it the posters were right - the experience was bad.

Since that $200.00 wasted I now have an eGo t some ejuices and some 306 LR's on the way with a pyrex drip tip. (All that good stuff for under $100.00) I know I have better gear now. Its good stuff, TH is great, vapor production is great have juices in 24 and 36mg. I have what I need - I think.

My big problem is that I cannot stop smoking. I keep on buying smokes, and keep on smoking them. Yesterday I chain smoked a pack of American Spirits while reading a thread on there here about a gentleman that was having the same issue. (The thread was old 09'- but still some good stuff on MOAI, that nicotine does not equal tobacco etc, etc.) Honestly I like vaping more than smoking!

So why am i writing this? I am hoping to find out I am not alone, looking for advise, a kick in the ..., additional gear that may help, whatever it is I am open to suggestions, criticism, laughs, whatever. Maybe just the catharsis of venting I don't know. All I know for sure is that I want to stop smoking analogs.

vaping really is easy the switch can be difficult for some though ... i have gotten a few people to switch over since i started just a few weeks ago ... each person is different .. one person is still smoking 4 or so analogs a day but before trying to switch she was smoking 2 PAD ... so i would say she is doing great! .... just stick with it and before you know it analog smoking will be in the past for you.

Really? I really thought that e-cig can replace analog.. It could be worse to be addicted to both at the same time.. So do u suggest i start vap? I wanna quit smoke!!

You'll have to make the decision to quit smoking. Once you decide that you want to do this, the process of switching to vaping will be easier. Many people (myself included) simply stopped buying cigarettes when they started vaping. Many others couldn't stop smoking, but they found themselves cutting way back on their smoking intake. Don't be discouraged if you fall in the second category. Just set some goals for yourself and stick with them. Eventually, you will be smoke free. Hope this helps.

American Spirits use a tobacco(?) thats literally a crazy amount... like 9 more times addictive than normal cigarettes. forgot the specifics but a simple google search will find it...its astonishing..dont let that "natural tobacco" crap fool you. so id say convert analog brands for now first off...

didnt read the other posts but i would suggest HV vaping and upping your nicotine mg level...i really cant see how that combo wont get you off the analogs eventually

I would highly recommend trying vaping! It works to switch from analogs for a LOT of people. If you look in the Polls section of ECF, you'll find polls asking how many people stopped smoking and what it took for them to stop those last few analogs. Vaping has helped a lot of people, but you'll never know how it can help you if you don't try.

At worst, even if you have trouble quitting or still smoke a few cigarettes each day, if you vape more than you smoke, that's far less cigarette smoke in your lungs each day and that will still be better for your health.

Every cigarette you don't smoke is a victory!

I agree this can be helpful, however, I don't believe it is necessary. I didn't start vaping with the intention of quitting smoking entirely. Honestly, I didn't believe I could ever quit smoking!!!

I did want to stop smoking in my house and in my car, though. So I figured if I could switch to vaping in the house, that would be good enough. I didn't expect vaping to replace my habit entirely, but it did within a few weeks. I still do not tell myself I can never have another cigarette again ever. I leave that option open, if I choose it. But I haven't been choosing it.

So, maybe some people have to make the decision to quit in order for it to work. I'm just saying not all people need to do that, and in my case, I think it would have been counter-productive because there is something about saying "No, I can never smoke again" that just makes me want to smoke a lot!

In recently heard American spirits are higher nic but your post about the free based nic really threw me for a loop. They're 36% free based nicotine. My old brand camels were less than 3%. Funny how I changed to AS seeing as how the were additive free...

thats how they suck you into their BS .... they say additive free but then make sure that once you switch no other analog will cure your craving after that ..... its smart and evil at the same time

Wanted to give an update, was meaning to but then Beans called me out so I better get to it. :)

I am still not analog free, but down to 7 or 8 a day. I also switched yesterday to a different brand other than American Spirits. Basically from when this thread started I have stopped smoking at least a pack of smokes a day. Not too bad. The encouragement from you all was/is very appreciated.

I have some cartomizers now that I seem to like. Will have to get some LR cartomizers soon though as I would like some more vapor production. I have some 306 atty's now which I purchased along with a Pyrex drip tip. As soon as I put the drip on and hit the button it broke. The manufacture did replace it but the one they replaced it with is probably not first run quality.. Oh well i'll try another drip tip manufacturer anyone have a suggestion for a 306?

All in all I am making very good progress. I was putting a lot of pressure on myself to be one of the ones who just immediately was able to make the change completely. That's just not me and that's fine. I will be free soon.

What helped me quit was almost chain vaping 36mg of nicotine and a vg based liquid so it got lots of vapor and throat hit. I try all sorts of different mixtures of vg/pg and nicotine content now, but I still like the high content best. Though, ashamed of myself now, one of my batteries died and then totally ran out of liquid before I got paid again, so I smoked a bit. :( congrats though, for cutting back! Less cigarettes is better than lots. :)

Yes you will! Stay with it and just relax about smoking...the less you stress about it, the further you'll kick them!!

I still prefer the ultra-high nic as well. In fact I vape it almost exclusively. One day I'll start weaning myself off of it, but I'm not too worried about it now! The WORST thing you can do is be ashamed of yourself for smoking a few stink sticks. Work on getting all your equipment backed up...the key is at least triple redundancy...have three backups for everything and don't let your stock deplete past that point.

Definitely don't sweat it if you go to 36, there are people who use it long term. I was 24 with a little DIY 30 for a long time, just in the last handful of months dropped to 20, should be blending some 18 tonight.

HV or variable voltage (VV) can really kick things up nicely. I used a simple, non-regulated, no inline battery, passthrough, with 2A USB power supply, in both my car and at work, for a long time (a simple PT and power supply run about $25 total); at 5V I use around a 3 ohm cartomizer, 8W power. This Feb I picked up a Notcigs Infinity, really liked it a lot -- put everything else away. A month ago I picked up a Notcigs Buzz Pro, another excellent performing VV. Truth be told, with the 808s and Rivas I was replacing batteries or having to fiddle with them -- still excellent products, but after realizing some savings from having stopped smoking, it was worth spending the $120 - $160 to get a VV with three sets of batteries. I had one early correction done on the Infinity, zero problems since then, all batteries still running full day (based on my use, 6 ml/day). Simple use, HV/VV, take a beating :)
