Thank you all for some great advice.

I know she is hitting it right, as I am watching her. I also told her how to do it. Slow (tiny) draw into mouth, then inhale it.

So, here is where I am going next.
First, I will buy a regular 510 battery. I will get some 3.0 ohm carto's. I will buy some 0mg and 24mg VG juice (something not too harsh). I will fill a morning (0mg), brunch (6mg), and maybe an afternoon delight (12mg) carto for her. I will make sure she stays hydrated and hope for the best.

Thanks, and if you think of anything else let me know.

Try a much lower nic level, my wife is the same way, on my 18mg juices, when your new and not used to it, it kicks the back of your throat pretty good regardless of the flavor. I've given her some juices that to me feel like nothing and even for her she ends up hacking a little bit. I do it a tad first thing in the morning when i wake up but after 3-4 pulls it feels normal again

I agree try the low nic level. You can mix it with your 18mg juices later if u want it stronger.

I read through all the responses but nobody else has mentioned this. I am in a position at my job where I am allowed by our Dr to demonstrate e-cigs to our patients. It's essential that they enjoy it within that first drag or two or they won't like it enough to give it a fair trial and I hated it when someone would start coughing like you describe. It took me a little while to figure it out but once I did, I haven't had a cougher since. As mentioned, she must draw it into her mouth first and then inhale, and here's where the change is made. I think she is inhaling it too deeply into her lungs. Tell her she only needs to inhale about as far as the indent between her collarbones. Nicotine in vapor form is mostly absorbed in the mouth and throat and doesn't need to be drawn into the lungs to be effective. Change the depth of her inhalation--I'm crossing my fingers!

I noticed the same thing when I first started, and it was definitely that I was inhaling too deeply into my lungs. I didn't really think about it until I read ths thread, but it took me a few days of trying to get used to the e-cig as opposed to my regular ones, and now I noticed that I do draw differently on the e-cig than I did on analog cigarettes.

I've been vaping and tobacco free for a little over 2 weeks now and trying to get my wife to switch with me but she coughs on every drag she takes so not really using it much. I have a Blu kit, I know I know Ive read a lot of bad things about it but I like it, and I also got an Ego kit with manual batteries both devices work great for me. I've had her use both the carto's and the carts with 510 atomizers and even tried dripping on both units she coughs no matter what combination I set up for her.

I find a cough a little in the mornings. I think it's partly due to my lungs are used to a dryer smoke where as the e-cigs vapor is moist. After a few puffs, my lungs start to adjust and I can vape fine. I think this will get better as my lungs heal from the smoke damage. Also, something in smoke paralyses the cilia in the lungs I'm told. This might help the lungs be able to handle the smoke better.

I also find inhaling in the mouth first then taking the vapor into my lungs SLOWLY helps a lot. After my lungs start to adjust and by taking it in slowly, I can inhale just as deeply as I did with cigarettes.
