I'll sell you mine....

I never understood why anybody would want to buy a clone/fake anything. I'd rather have one Rolex and one Hermes than ten cheap watches and bags. Same goes with mods, quality is everything. I can spot a ten feet away. I'm not judging just not my cup of tea.
that's exactly the mod i was thinking of when i saw the switch disassembled.... lol
either way, this clone is not a mod i would be interested in.
too many negatives in design....
The caravela is so simple, yet they still manage toit up
Because these aren't Rolex watches, they aren't luxury status symbols. (If) the clones work, and are made of similar materials, who cares.
Now let me get back to my yard work, where's my diamond studded gold rake at...
there are a crap ton of mods that would function a million times better than this one
Then some of these flippers can move on.
These are metal tubes with spring buttons for crying out loud....A mechanical mod isn't some complicated piece of machinery. It isn't rocket science to make one. If it has brass contacts and the switch works then there is nothing to make a "real" caravela any better than this. The difference is only cosmetic and it isn't even that much of a difference. I guess the real difference is hype and "rarity."
Can China mess up such a simple device? Of course. But it can be done if they decide to do it and not cut corners(i.e K100). I'm glad china has started to tackle the high end mech mods. I've been around awhile and the advent of the genisis was a double edge sword. The mod craze really reached a new level. These things have really poisoned the community bringing in a shroud of greed, elitism, and ignorance with their shiny finishes and high price tags. An ihybrid sells out in 5 seconds and then you see a bunch for $500 a week later on different flipping sites. I've seen fogattis and velas sell for $1000+ easy. All that money has brought in many unsavory people. I can only hope china can make some products to relieve some of this pressure for good gene devices. Then some of these flippers can move on.
I just typed a whole dissertation and deleted it. I am so sick of this topic. Don't get me wrong we are all entitled to our opinions and I respect that.
Do I want and have 25 genny attys? Yes. Am I going to spend $150+ on all of those? Hell no. I will buy 1 high ender to every 5 clones, or so. My RSST is identical to my AC9. My AGAs perform as good as any atty in my collection.
I have 3 or 4 sigelei mechs and w a few minor modifications here and there, they are as good as my Vela, 69, Roller, etc. A batt tube and threads are just that. They will last just as long as a higher quality steel, that cost 10 Xs the amount.
I have a clone mod from a co-op months ago, that has the same exact switch as this Vela clone. Its a decent switch. It just so happens that a while back I modded the switch to fit 1 of my real Vela tubes. I posted way back then that I liked the action and operation of the clone switch better than the original Vela switch. Kinda ironic that here we are months later and the 1st Vela clone comes w that switch.
People that cant and never will afford a vela are proud to have a clone that looks that nice. I think its great that they can hold their head high without spending a months worth of food $ to get it.
On second thought I'm not sick of this conversation, I am glad to represent those that are on the other side of this topic.

Maybe it's a bit to hard to grasp my post. I am NOT talking about status symbols BUT quality (do youwant amod that lasts a lifetime and WORKS or something that will be dented and broken in a few months? Your comment about "the diamond studded rake was not just infantile but also ignorant. Yeah, a diamond studded rake would sure be very functional...I have my watch since 1985 and never had to get it repaired; that's quality. Same with bags, clothes, Mont blanc pens AND mechanical mods such as a quality made Caravela. However, seems pointless to discuss quality if you have a different definition for it. I think your "similar" material comment spoke for itself since the materials make all the difference.

if this was directed at me... i'm not even talking about this mod with recent comments and more to the quality = expensive turn this discussion is taking. that is a very narrow minded over privileged mindset and is not true. I never said the vela clone was the best of the best and have clearly stated the flaws and downfalls of it in this thread. I happen to have a few other lower priced mods that are top notch on quality and can hold their own with $$$ mods.a well made mod, doesn't have to be expensive... they do exist.
this one just isn't one of them...
stop trying to be smug and convincing others that it is
