This might not be of any significance, but here are photos of 3 different Caravela mechanical mod clones. They all have different designed end caps (obviously different Chinese manufacturers).

From you folks with experience in these clones ... Is there one here that's any better than the other?

Thanks,

Number 1 will probably have lowest voltage drop over time due to single piece larger hot pin. Some gold vela clones are gold plated SS; not brass. Contact surface area plays a critical role in voltage drop. When looking for voltage drop bottle necks start with small surface area contact points. When I have voltage drop issues it is usually dirty hot pins or dirty switch contacts; never had issue w/ SS body threads. My DIY SS hot pins have lower voltage drop than factory silver plated hot pins based on three tests.

If I was picking one based solely on those photos, I'd pick the middle SS version because of the insulator on the switch.

The top one I wouldn't bother with at all because of the possibility of it shorting with a battery that's wrap doesn't fold over on the bottom.

Thanks everyone for your opinions on this.

The top one (Ehpro) is the mod that I ordered from FastTech, but it is now backorder, and they have been telling me for 3 weeks that there is a "production problem" that has delayed the shipment to them. Here is the link to the one I ordered: $21.96 Mixed Caravela Style Mechanical Mod Full Kit - 18350&18500&18650 tubes at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
I didn't realize it was a Ehpro mod until 'Muggs' mentioned it.

The middle one that 'VaPreis' mentioned has an insulator around the switch is available from FocalEcig. Here is the link to it: $21.70 Caravela Sailing Type Electronic Cigarette Mechanical Mod - Silver (1 x 18350 / 18500 / 18650)
I have no idea who makes this clone for FocalEcig. Obviously, it's not Ehpro.

The Ehpro that is backordered from FastTech is stainless with a brass colored switch on the bottom, while the center one from FocalEcig is all stainless (no brass accents).

They both come with all 3 sizes of tubes. I don't know which one would have the nicest finish or the best etching of the Caravela ship logo ... so I am wondering if I should cancel my order with FastTech and order the all stainless model from FocalEcig (which is in stock) ? ?

BTW ... Neither FastTech or FocalEcig tell you who the manufacturers are on these clones there selling.

My focalecig 18350 (ehpro style) vela is a stunning 23 mm beauty w/ a smooth switch. May be polished SS under the beautiful mirror gold plating. It hits hard but I haven't done a volt drop test. The mirror SS body is breath taking perfect. Makes UD polished toppers look unfinished. I would prefer a 21 mm 18500; maybe one day. The switch has reasonable slop unlike some other clones. The engraving is as good as my best hcicar nemesis. Clones are not created equal.

I should add that FocalECig now has 2 Caravela versions for sale - one is 23mm, and the other is 21mm (I think). The 23mm is EHPro (V2), and it's available only in 18350, while the other one comes with multiple tubes, and I have no idea who makes it...

I saw a polished 18650 21 mm vela there. When they have that in 18500 I may throw the dart.

the HCigar is the top one, but with a silver plated brass contact on the bottom instead of just brass. Pin is the same.

And others say the top one is an Ehpro

I'm confused

I thought all these clones were 22mm in diameter ... Now I see some as 21mm and some as 23mm

Isn't 22mm the standard diameter? .... I know my Kayfun mod is 22mm too.

Don't feel bad. I don't even know if hcigar and tobeco manufacture or just resell. Nor do I know how many clones clone the clones they cloned.

I'm not saying those people are incorrect. I'm saying the HCigar is the same style, but with the difference I mentioned.

22mm is the "standard" size, but not all the clones/attys fit that description
