After 3 days of near constant vaping (I can't put this thing down!) I noticed the vapor production was falling off. Remembered that I normally clean my 510 atty and batt threads with a q-tip and a little rubbing alcohol and then use the other end of the tip to dry things out.

So I cleaned the atty threads and boom! the Protege roared back to life. I'm a little hesitant to do the same with the female threads on the adapter, although I know they have to be cleaned, because I didn't want to damage the black ring and wind up with a wiggly adapter. 8-o

So for the adapter, battery contacts, etc. what (and how often) does Puresmoker recommend for keeping the Protege clean and performing well?

I'm still trying to get my hands on some Everclear. We cannot buy it in our state.

I have been using plain old rubbing alcohol. It does a very good job of cleaning the juice off of the contacts. It might even work better than PGA because it is only 70% alcohol. Some solvents work better thinned out than they do pure strength.

I've found that I do have to clean the atty/batt connector quite often. It doesn't take much juice to create a resistance and the performance of the atty will drop off. It almost fells like the battery is getting weak when it is just the resistance dropping the voltage to the atty.

That's the first that I've heard about the thread connections to the tube. I haven't had an issue with that. The threads I clean are the atty connector and center contact. I didn't know that I might be losing ground contact through the tube connection threads. I'll have to look into that

What should be cleaned and how often?

Best methods?

Someone mentioned using a rubber eraser on the brass contacts?

Is rubbing alcohol ok?

This is such a good point. With all the fuss about cleaning atomizers I have found that just keeping the contacts nice and clean is the best maintenance you can do. I have even wondered how much of the benefit of soaking atomizers is just that it cleans the threads out well. I have gotten into the habit of cleaning them with out the solvent a couple times a day and only breaking out the hooch for a good weekly clean.
