I've managed to do the unthinkable and dropped my limited edition cartel mod. The damage was minimal thankfully, given that I dropped it on concrete. But, now the button sticks and I've found why. The problem is how do I fix it?

If any of you look at your Cartel, the bottom part seems to be made of a softer copper alloy than the tube part of the mod. The reason I say this is because that bottom piece bent just ever so much, enough to make the recessed area misshapen enough so that the button doesn't go into it anymore. I had to adjust the pins both top and bottom to allow for the now non-flush/non-recessed button to fire, which leads to many an accidental fire, and a burned leg when I put it in my pocket (I've stopped doing that for now)...

So my question is, how can I get the recessed area where the button is supposed to go into, back to it's original shape? I'll post a picture of what I'm talking about in the first comment.

To better describe it now that pictures are up, it's the indented area to the left of the "L" in the word "Limited" in the first 4 pictures, to the right of the same "L" in the 5th picture, and on the exact opposite side from the hole where the spring goes in the last picture.

What are my options for recreating that tiny little bit of gap that the button needs to smoothly go into the recess? Dremel? Circular file attached to a drill? Manual file? I'm at a loss...

File....

Soft copper and dremels dont mix......kinda like gunpowder and beer.

I'd either get a fine round file or a ceramic sharpening stick, get a good cold beer on the end table and a good movie on the tube and I'd work that area ever so gently......Circular motions....Dont let the file go too far over the indent. Id also masking tape the areas of the part that are good so as not to mar or file them.

test often, stop when its working and polish the whole thing when finished.
